The influence of genotype, pST and stress reactivity on carcass composition, meat and fat quality was investigated in 57 growingfinishing pigs. Pietrain pigs contained more meat and less fat in carcass in comparison to Schwerfurter breed. Exogenous pST improved the carcass composition with regard to leaness. The inhibitory effect of pST on fat synthesis caused a reduced chemical fat in adipose tissue, reduced size and number of fat cells and an increase of relative content of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Halothane reactivity mainly influenced the composition of carcass. Stress-positive pigs were leaner than H'pigs. The factors pST, breed and halothane reactivity slightly affected the meat quality. 相似文献

The possibility of providing multimedia services to mobile users has led to interest in designing broadband wireless networks that can guarantee quality of service for traffic flows. However, a fundamental problem in these networks is that severe losses may occur due to the random fading characteristics of the wireless channel. Error control algorithms which compensate for these losses are required in order to achieve reasonable loss rates. In this paper, the performance of error control based on forward error correction (FEC) for MPEG-2 video transmission in an indoor wireless ATM LAN is studied. A random bit error model and a multipath fading model are used to investigate the effect of errors on video transport. Combined source and channel coding techniques that employ single-layer and scalable MPEG-2 coding to combat channel errors are compared. Simulation results indicate that FEC-based error control in combination with 2-layer video coding techniques can lead to acceptable quality for indoor wireless ATM video.Work performed while the author was at AT&T Bell Laboratories on a D.O.E. fellowship program. 相似文献

Effects of different types and shapes of titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and magnetite nanofillers on the rheological behavior of polyol/nanofiller suspensions, on the rigid polyurethane foam formation reaction, and hence on the final microstructure were investigated. The rheological percolation threshold of polyol/nanofiller suspensions decreased as the aspect ratio of nonspherical nanoparticles (platelet or rod) increased, regardless of the nanofiller type. The results of reaction kinetics showed that above a critical surface area (≈30 m2), independently of nanofiller type, the reaction rate increased as the surface area increased. The introduction of oxide surfaces reduced the final cell size until a critical surface area (≈30 m2). However, above this critical value cell size distribution gets wider and the cell size can no longer be correlated with the surface area. In the latter case, an increase of the reaction rate and the polymerization reaction being exothermic may facilitate uncontrolled cell nucleation, growth, and hence coalescence which results in an uncontrolled foam structure. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Incidence of cardiovascular diseases in the patients having chronic kidney disease (CKD) is between 25% and 60%. This increased rate is proposed to be associated with “accelerated atherosclerosis.” Increased carotid intima‐media thickness (CIMT) is a subclinical atherosclerosis marker. Small‐dense low‐density lipoprotein particles are a strong risk factor for atherosclerosis. It was shown that atherogenic index of plasma (AIP = log(TG/HDL‐c)) is correlated with size of the lipoprotein particles. We investigated the correlation between AIP and CIMT which is a subclinical atherosclerosis marker, in hemodialysis (HD) patients. A total of 62 persons with 31 patients under HD therapy and 31 volunteers were included in the study. In all the participants, CIMT was measured and AIP were calculated. AIP and CIMT values of the participants were compared with blood pressures, lipid profiles and the other risk factors. AIP (0.39 ± 0.32) and CIMT (0.57 ± 0.13) were found significantly higher in the patient group than in the controls (0.04 ± 0.36 and 0.45 ± 0.119, respectively); (P = 0.0001 and 0.0001, respectively). There was a significant correlation between AIP and increased CIMT in the patient group (P = 0.0001, r = 0.430). Among the lipid parameters, the strongest correlation was found between CIMT and AIP. We demonstrated the significant increase of AIP and CIMT in HD patients. A correlation was found between AIP and CIMT. AIP was found to show a correlation with a greater number of risk factors, both classical and CKD specific, than CIMT. These data suggest that AIP might be a method which can be used both in diagnosis of subclinical atherosclerosis and in deceleration processes of its progression. 相似文献

After comparing fresh and degraded performances of Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM) based components of a hydrogen cycle with the help of computational fluid dynamics simulations, recently established stand-alone solar energy system producing hydrogen for energy storage is investigated focusing on the effects of degradation of fuel cells on the overall performance of the system. A complete model of the system has been developed using TRNSYS, and a degraded PEM Fuel Cell Subsystem has been incorporated into the model. Then, the effects of the PEM fuel cell degradation on the overall performance of the energy system are estimated. After reviewing the simulation results, the model shows that the PEM Fuel Cell degradation has a substantial impact on the overall system performance causing a system down time of approximately one month in a typical simulation year. Consequently, the stand-alone system is not capable of operating continuously for a complete year when the PEM fuel cells are degraded. Furthermore, an economic analysis is performed for a project lifetime of 25 years and the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCE) value of the degraded system is found to be 0.08 $/kWh higher than the newly established system. Nevertheless, LCE calculations that are repeated for declining PV panel costs show that the considered hybrid system may be an economically competitive alternative to conventional diesel generators, even when the degradation of PEM based components and their regular maintenance are considered. 相似文献

The reaction of dialdehyde starch with casein and field-bean globulin leads to a blocking of the protein amino groups and to a decrease of free lysine, arginine and histidine. Maximum values are reached at high protein concentrations and great molar reagent excess. At best 80-93% of the amino groups or of the available lysine may be blocked in this way. For 1% casein and I and 5% globulin solutions, the pH optimum of the reaction lies at approximately 8; for 5% casein solutions, it is shifted towards the neutral to weakly acidic range. The value for the proportion of unblocked lysine is higher (approximately 5%) when determined by amino-acid analysis after acid total hydrolysis than when measured by means of the colorimetric method according to Carpenter (20%). The difference is designed as reversibly blocked lysine proportion. There is a linear correlation between the proportion of blocked lysine and the relative nutritional value as determined by means of the test organism Tetrahymena pyriformis. Dependently on protein concentration and reagent excess, gel chromatographically detectable cross-linking products of higher molecular weight are formed by the reaction of dialdehyde starch with casein. In 5% protein solutions, such products with molecular weights of less than or equal to 900 000 are the sole detectable components. 相似文献

This paper describes the design and performance of a link-layer protocol for indoor and outdoor wireless networks. The protocol is asymmetric to reduce the processing load at the mobile, reliability is established by a combination of automatic repeat request and forward error correction, and link-layer packets are transferred appropriately during handoffs. The protocol is namedAIRMAIL (AsymmetrIc Reliable Mobile Access In Link-layer). The asymmetry is needed in the design because the mobile terminals have limited power and smaller processing capability than the base stations. The key ideas in the asymmetric protocol design consist of placing bulk of the intelligence in the base station as opposed to placing it symmetrically, in requiring the mobile terminal to combine several acknowledgments into a single acknowledgment to conserve power, and in designing the base stations to send periodic status messages, while making the acknowledgment from the mobile terminal eventdriven. The asymmetry in the protocol design results in a one-third reduction of compiled code. The forward error correction technique incorporates three levels of channel coding which interact adaptively. The motivation for using a combination of forward error correction and link-layer retransmissions is to obtain better performance in terms of end-to-end throughput and latency by correcting errors in an unreliable wireless channel in addition to end-to-end correction rather than by correcting errors only by end-to-end retransmissions. The coding overhead is changed adaptively so that bandwidth expansion due to forward error correction is minimized. Integrity of the link during handoffs (in the face of mobility) is handled by window management and state transfer. The protocol has been implemented. Experimental performance results based on the implementation are presented. 相似文献
