A detailed long range restriction map of the region defined by markers D6S149 and D6S193 on chromosome 6q27 has been constructed. This was achieved by YAC cloning and contig assembling of the same region. Seven YAC clones were found to span the almost 1000 Kb region flanked by the two markers which on the genetic map resulted to be 1.9 cM apart. With some of the characterized YAC clones we undertook a molecular cytogenetic analysis of 20 benign ovarian tumors. The rationale for this was the recent mapping to a region of chromosome 6q27, flanked by markers D6281 and D6S133, of a locus for the SV40-mediated immortalization of human cells (SEN6 gene). Noteworthy we found that the the D6S149-D6S193 region (comprised in the larger D6S281-D6S133 physical interval) was altered in all samples analysed adding support to the occurrence of a immortalization step in this type of tumors. 相似文献

Restoration of a wild-produced lake trout Salvelinus namaycush population in Lake Ontario has not been successful despite the adult population often meeting or exceeding restoration targets. Lack of high-quality spawning habitat in Lake Ontario is suggested as one impediment to recruitment of wild lake trout, although the quantity and location of spawning habitat is poorly understood. If high-quality spawning habitat is limited in Lake Ontario, lake trout may be using uncommon spawning locations such as rivers. Anecdotal angler accounts point to the Niagara River as a lake trout spawning location. To better understand the potential of the Niagara River as a spawning location, egg and juvenile fish collections were conducted 12–14 river kilometers from the mouth of the Niagara River from 2010 to 2012; and mature female lake trout with surgically implanted acoustic tags were monitored from 2015 to 2019. Genetic analyses confirmed 60% of collected eggs and 93% of collected post-hatch juvenile fish in the Niagara River were lake trout. Tagged female lake trout returned to the Niagara River over consecutive years during the spawning season. The short duration of lake trout presence in the river (mean = 56 days/year) suggests female lake trout use the Niagara River primarily for spawning. Diversity in spawning locations may provide lake trout population’s resilience against environmental variability through a portfolio effect. Improved identification of riverine spawning locations, including their overall contribution to wild recruitment, may be a useful tool for managers to restore a wild-produced population of lake trout in Lake Ontario. 相似文献

This paper presents a model of labor participation calibrated on a weekly basis; part-time and full-time employments are also
considered. By applying the theory of random utility maximization we model households’ choices. In order to have a good temporal
and spatial coverage the model is calibrated on three datasets, extracted from both national and regional travel surveys.
The results are applied to synthetic households that reproduce the Belgian population. The proposed innovative methodology
simulates synthetic agents by accounting both for households’ and individuals’ characteristics, while not suffering from the
problem of the “zero cell value”. The results indicate that there is major day-to-day variability in working activity participation;
in particular, on Wednesdays and Fridays the number of households working part-time or not working is particularly high. This
is consistent with what was expected by the analysts. Working participation is a fundamental component in activity based models
where work is considered a skeletal activity. The tools developed here can be useful to study how changes in population characteristics
(i.e. increases of flexible working arrangements and of the number of women in the work force) affect activity participation

This study presents a new, simple and robust, pneumatically actuated method for the generation of liquid metal micro droplets in the nano- to picoliter range. The so-called StarJet dispenser utilizes a star-shaped nozzle geometry that stabilizes liquid plugs in its center by means of capillary forces. Single droplets of the liquid metal can be pneumatically generated by the interaction of the sheathing gas flow in the outer grooves of the nozzle and the liquid metal. For experimental validation, a print head was build consisting of silicon chips with a star-shaped nozzle geometry and a heated actuator (up to 280°C). The silicon chips are fabricated by Deep Reactive Ion Etching (DRIE). Chip designs with different star-shaped geometries were able to generate droplets with diameters in the range of the corresponding nozzle diameters. The StarJet can be operated in two modes: Either continuous droplet dispensing mode or drop on demand (DoD) mode. The continuous droplet generation mode for a nozzle with 183?μm diameter shows tear-off frequencies between 25 and 120?Hz, while droplet diameters remain constant at 210?μm for each pressure level. Metal columns were printed with a thickness of 0.5–1.0?mm and 30?mm height (aspect ratio >30), to demonstrate the directional stability of droplet ejection and its potential as a suitable tool for direct prototyping of the metal microstructures. 相似文献

Forced vibrations of moderately thick plates on two-parameter, Pasternak-type foundations are considered. Influence of plate shear and rotatory inertia are taken into account according to Mindlin. Excitations are of the force as well as of the support motion type. Formulation is in the frequency domain. An analogy to thin plates without foundations is given. This analogy to classical plate theory is complete in the case of polygonal plan-forms and hinged support conditions. In that case the higher order Mindlin-problem is reduced to two (second order) Helmholtz-Klein- Gordon boundary value problems. An advanced BEM using Green's functions of rectangular domains is applied to the latter, thereby satisfying boundary conditions exactly as far as possible. This problem oriented strategy provides the frequency response functions for the deflection of the undamped Mindlin plate with high numerical accuracy.
