This paper extends the capabilities of previous BST and EBST rotation‐free thin shell elements to the analysis of kinked and branching surfaces. The computation of the curvature tensor is first redefined in terms of the angle change between the normals at the adjacent elements. This allows to deal with arbitrary large angles between adjacent elements and to treat kinked surfaces. A relative stiffness between elements is introduced to consider non‐homogeneous surfaces. This idea is latter generalized to deal with branching shells. Several linear and non‐linear examples are presented showing that the formulation leads to the correct results. In this paper we analyze the monitoring of p Poisson quality characteristics simultaneously, developing a new multivariate control chart based on the linear combination of the Poisson variables, the LCP control chart. The optimization of the coefficients of this linear combination (and control limit) for minimizing the out-of-control ARL is constrained by the desired in-control ARL. In order to facilitate the use of this new control chart the optimization is carried out employing user-friendly Windows© software, which also makes a comparison of performance between this chart and other schemes based on monitoring a set of Poisson variables; namely a control chart on the sum of the variables (MP chart), a control chart on their maximum (MX chart) and an optimized set of univariate Poisson charts (Multiple scheme). The LCP control chart shows very good performance. First, the desired in-control ARL (ARL0) is perfectly matched because the linear combination of Poisson variables is not constrained to integer values, which is an advantage over the rest of charts, which cannot in general match the required ARL0 value. We present three velocity‐based updated Lagrangian formulations for standard and quasi‐incompressible hypoelastic‐plastic solids. Three low‐order finite elements are derived and tested for non‐linear solid mechanics problems. The so‐called V‐element is based on a standard velocity approach, while a mixed velocity–pressure formulation is used for the VP and the VPS elements. The two‐field problem is solved via a two‐step Gauss–Seidel partitioned iterative scheme. First, the momentum equations are solved in terms of velocity increments, as for the V‐element. Then, the constitutive relation for the pressure is solved using the updated velocities obtained at the previous step. For the VPS‐element, the formulation is stabilized using the finite calculus method in order to solve problems involving quasi‐incompressible materials. The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), through the MAP kinase and PI3K-Akt-mTOR axis, plays a pivotal role in colorectal cancer (CRC) pathogenesis. The membrane-associated NEU3 sialidase interacts with and desialylates EGFR by promoting its dimerization and downstream effectors’ activation. Among the targeted therapies against EGFR, the monoclonal antibody cetuximab is active only in a subgroup of patients not carrying mutations in the MAP kinase pathway. In order to better understand the EGFR-NEU3 interplay and the mechanisms of pharmacological resistance, we investigated the role of NEU3 deregulation in cetuximab-treated CRC cell lines transiently transfected with NEU3 using Western blot analysis. Our results indicate that NEU3 overexpression can enhance EGFR activation only if EGFR is overexpressed, indicating the existence of a threshold for NEU3-mediated EGFR activation. This enhancement mainly leads to the constitutive activation of the MAP kinase pathway. Consequently, we suggest that the evaluation of NEU3 expression cannot entirely substitute the evaluation of EGFR because EGFR-negative cases cannot be stimulated by NEU3. Furthermore, NEU3-mediated hyperactivation of EGFR is counterbalanced by the administration of cetuximab, hypothesizing that a combined treatment of NEU3- and EGFR-targeted therapies may represent a valid option for CRC patients, which must be investigated in the future. 相似文献

One of the open problems to control a parallel robot in real-time is the larger number of parameters to be incorporated in the control model when compared to serial robots. This paper presents an innovative vision-based method to control a delta-type parallel robot based on Linear Camera-Space Manipulation. The proposed method is a simple and robust technique capable of achieving real-time control of robots without relying on the calibration of either the robot or the environment parameters. To document the robustness of this technique, a sensitivity analysis was performed in simulation where the effect of two sources of error on the end-point positioning are considered. Such sources are the variability of each link’s parameters, and the uncertainty of the visual measurements. Experimental results on a Clavel’s delta parallel robot show that end-point positioning errors obtained with Linear Camera-Space Manipulation are less than 1.5 mm, demonstrating a low sensitivity to parameter uncertainty in qualitative agreement with the simulation results. The results show that the developed approach is advantageous to control parallel robots for industrial applications in real-time and can obviate to a number of open problems common with the control of parallel robots. 相似文献

The sequential nature of action ensures that an individual can anticipate the conclusion of an observed action via the use of semantic rules. The semantic processing of language and action has been linked to the N400 component of the event-related potential (ERP). The authors developed an ERP paradigm in which infants and adults observed simple sequences of actions. In one condition the conclusion of the sequence was anticipated, whereas in the other condition the conclusion was not anticipated. Adults and infants at 9 months and 7 months were assessed via the same neural mechanisms—the N400 component and analysis of the theta frequency. Results indicated that adults and infants at 9 months produced N400-like responses when anticipating action conclusions. The infants at 7 months displayed no N400 component. Analysis of the theta frequency provided support for the relation between the N400 and semantic processing. This study suggests that infants at 9 months anticipate goals and use similar cognitive mechanisms to adults in this task. In this paper, we describe the development of the variable dimension and variable sample size T2 control chart (VSSVDT2), which is an enhancement of the variable dimension T2 chart (VDT2). In the VDT2 control chart, the number of variables that are measured to compute the T2 statistic is made variable. Some of the variables are easy or inexpensive to measure and are always monitored. The variables that are more difficult or expensive to measure are measured only when the T2 value from the previous sample exceeds a specified threshold. The VDT2 control chart performs well for moderate and large shifts in the mean vector. However, its performance for small shifts is poor. To improve the chart’s performance in detecting such shifts, we propose the application of the variable sample size technique to the VDT2 control chart, resulting in the VSSVDT2 control chart. To promote the use of the VSSVDT2 chart, a user-friendly software has been developed, which the final user can use to find the best parameters of the VSSVDT2 chart for a particular process. 相似文献

The influence of the presence of CaCO3 on the cure reaction of the epoxy network diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A with isophorone diamine has been studied. The total enthalpy of reaction, the glass transition temperature and the partial enthalpies at different isothermal temperatures have been determined using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) in dynamic and isothermal mode. A kinetic model accounting the influence of the diffusion of the reactive groups at high conversions was used.
