Sampling of piecewise constant stochastic processes with smooth distributions of stay time in states

In the solution of sampling problem, a requirement is that the probability of skipping a state must not exceed a prescribed value. A general solution is obtained that makes it possible to construct approximate procedures of various accuracy. Formulas for the Erlang distribution of the stay times and formulas based on the recalculation of the first two moments are obtained. Computed characteristics are presented and an illustrative example is discussed.     

An imaging spectroradiometry system for measuring spatial temperature distributions in microscopic objects

An imaging-spectrometry method for measuring the spatial distributions of the temperature of microscopic objects with nonuniform spectral-emissivity distributions over their surfaces is described. An acousto-optic imaging spectrometer that allows measurements of the temperature distributions in the range of 500–5000 K with an error of ~1% and a spatial resolution of 500 × 500 elements over the surfaces of objects with dimensions of at most 5 mm was developed and manufactured. The efficiency of the instrument was demonstrated experimentally in measurements of the spatial distribution of the temperature of a laserheated tungsten plate.     

Solving problems in the welding of large structures made of molybdenum alloys

This article describes the determination of the stress state of cylindrical couplings, couplings with unloading rings used for restoring the load-carrying capacity of sections of transmission pipelines with metal losses of different origin, and also of sheltering branch pipes, branch pipes with a ring-shape strap and a split T-branch, used as repair jackets preventing unsealing of fittings.     

Coalescence of Two Regular Singularities into One Regular Singularity for the Linear Ordinary Differential Equation

The process of coalescence of two regular singular points of linear ODE into a single regular singularity is studied. This problem is examined in terms of connection matrices and solutions of the corresponding equations.     

Investigations of BOR-60 Structural Materials and Prospects for Further Work

Since its startup in December in 1969, the BOR-60 reactor has been used effectively for irradiation of structural and fuel materials in a wide range of dose–temperature parameters. Analysis of the actual computational-experimental parameters (irradiation temperature, damage rates) shows that the irradiation conditions are highly reproducible and can be maintained accurately.The investigations made it possible to study phenomena which are important for building reactors using domestic structural materials and to choose the optimal composition and heat treatment of the materials.New directions are indicated for scientific-research work, for improving and increasing the service life of VVÉR type reactors, and for developing new-generation structural materials for fusion reactors being designed.     

Sampling-reconstruction of Markov processes with a finite number of states

Statistical procedure for sampling-reconstruction of Markov processes with a finite number of states is developed. Special features of the sampling-reconstruction procedures for such processes compared to continuous processes are discussed. The problem of determining the sampling interval is formulated and solved under the following two constraints: on the variance of the jump moment estimate and on the probability of missing a transition. An example illustrates the application of the described methodology.     

Production of >16-mm strip after reconstruction of the 2000 mill

Efficient hot rolling of broad strip thicker than 16.0 mm is developed, so as to ensure high product quality and rational cell loading in the 2000 mill at OAO MMK. Simulation by the finite-element method indicates that intensifying the unit reduction in the finishing group increases the likelihood of crack formation. Rolling of strip thicker than 16.0 mm with five finishing passes is proposed.
