Evaluation of the properties of carbon fibre packing in use applied to sealing technology

The specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity of packing made of carbon fibres were determined. The friction coefficients of the carbon fibre packing in conditions of friction without lubrication and with lubrication with water and oil were found. The sealing properties of the packing were investigated. and it was found that it ensures reliable sealing.Uvikom TOO. Mytishchi. Firing dolomite in a rotary kiln at the cherepovets metallurgical plant

Conclusions Experience with the operation of a rotary furnace for firing dolomite is complex with a waste-heat boiler KU-60U and the electric filter DGP-42-3 show that this assembly is successful, permitting the attainment of excellent technical and economic factors with satisfactory degrees of purification of the flue gases.Translated from Ogneupory, No.2, pp.25–28, February, 1967.     

Diffusion welding of heaters made of molybdenum disilicide

Conclusions It has been established that with diffusion welding in a vacuum and under optimal conditions, a physical interface is completely absent between the welded materials, i.e., the structure of the welding zone does not differ from the structure of the starting molybdenum disilicide. The porosity is 2.1%. The size of the pores varies from 2 to 70, and the zone of the welded bond of molybdenum disilicide is equal in strength to the base material.Tests under industrial conditions showed that the molybdenum disilicide heater, welded by diffusion welding in a vacuum, worked on a par with those imported, and lasted 3000 h at a temperature of 1650–1700°C.As a result of developing and introducing the new technology of producing molybdenum disilicide heating rods, the Moscow Hard Alloys Combine has obtained a great economic saving, of the order of 350,000 rubles in 1961–1962.
