X-ray imaging in differential interference contrast (DIC) with submicrometer optical resolution was performed by using a twin zone plate (TZP) setup generating focal spots closely spaced within the TZP spatial resolution of 160 nm. Optical path differences introduced by the sample are recorded by a CCD camera in a standard full-field imaging and by an aperture photodiode in a standard scanning transmission x-ray microscope. Applying this x-ray DIC technique, we demonstrate for both the full-field imaging and scanning x-ray microscope methods a drastic increase in image contrast (approximately 20x) for a low-absorbing specimen, similar to the Nomarski DIC method for visible-light microscopy.  相似文献

An airborne UV-visible spectrometer, the Gas Analyzer Spectrometer Correlating Optical Differences, airborne version (GASCOD/A4pi) was successfully operated during the Airborne Polar Experiment, Geophysica Aircraft in Antarctica airborne campaign from Ushuaia (54 degrees 49' S, 68 degrees 18' W), Argentina in southern spring 1999. The instrument measured scattered solar radiation through three optical windows with a narrow field of view (FOV), one from the zenith, two from the horizontal, as well as actinic fluxes through 2pi FOV radiometric heads. Only a few airborne measurements of scattered solar radiation at different angles from the zenith are available in the literature. With our configuration we attempted to obtain the average line-of-sight concentrations of detectable trace gases. The retrieval method, based on differential optical absorption spectroscopy, is described and results for ozone are shown and compared with measurements from an in situ instrument as the first method of validation.  相似文献

Studies in our laboratory have shown that as early as day 8.5 of development, mouse yolk sac cells can generate T cells when placed in a thymic microenvironment. At this stage, yolk sac cells can also differentiate into myeloid cells in vitro. B cell differentiation in vitro was achieved with day 9 yolk sac by providing a bone marrow stromal feeder layer. We have now established endothelial cell lines and clones from yolk sacs of day 8-12 mouse embryos. These vary in their ability to support stem cell maintenance and differentiation. Our principal work has been carried out with day 12 cloned endothelial cell lines. One clone supported the > 100 fold expansion of yolk sac hematopoietic stem cells that subsequently could generate B cells, T cells and myeloid cells both in vitro and in vivo. Preliminary experiments with endothelial cells from younger embryos are also described.  相似文献

The time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence of a series of polycyclic aromatic compounds (PAHs) and mixtures of these latter in aqueous solution was measured by means of an apparatus equipped with optical fibers, which allows their real time in situ monitoring. The potential of such spectroscopic technique, yielding 4-way fluorescence data arrays, together with the application of multi-way models to the matricized data, was tested for the resolution of complex aqueous mixtures containing low concentrations of PAHs, as typical fluorescent pollutants in aquatic systems. PARAllel FACtors analysis was employed for the qualitative resolution of PAHs mixtures and for calculating the fluorescence lifetimes of single PAHs; n-way partial least squares analysis was applied for evaluating the concentration of the single PAHs in the aqueous mixtures.  相似文献

Among emerging technologies, Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA) relies on innovative computational paradigms. For nano-scale implementation, the so-called processing-by-wire (PBW) paradigm in QCA is very effective as processing takes place, while signal communication is accomplished. This paper analyzes the defect tolerance properties of PBW for manufacturing tiles by molecular QCA cells. Based on a 3?×?3 grid and various input/output arrangements in QCA cells, different tiles are analyzed and simulated using a coherence vector engine. The functional characterization and polarization level of these tiles for undeposited cell defects are reported and detailed profiles are provided. It is shown that novel features of PBW are possible due to the spatial redundancy of the cells in the tiles that permits to retain at high probability the fault free function in the presence of defects. Moreover, it is shown that QCA tiles are robust and inherently tolerant to cell defects (by logic equivalence, also additional cell defects can be accommodated).  相似文献

Given an n-node edge-weighted graph and a subset of k terminal nodes, the NP-hard (weighted) Steiner tree problem is to compute a minimum-weight tree which spans the terminals. All the known algorithms for this problem which improve on trivial O(1.62 n )-time enumeration are based on dynamic programming, and require exponential space. Motivated by the fact that exponential-space algorithms are typically impractical, in this paper we address the problem of designing faster polynomial-space algorithms. Our first contribution is a simple O((27/4) k n O(logk))-time polynomial-space algorithm for the problem. This algorithm is based on a variant of the classical tree-separator theorem: every Steiner tree has a node whose removal partitions the tree in two forests, containing at most 2k/3 terminals each. Exploiting separators of logarithmic size which evenly partition the terminals, we are able to reduce the running time to $O(4^{k}n^{O(\log^{2} k)})$ . This improves on trivial enumeration for roughly k<n/3, which covers most of the cases of practical interest. Combining the latter algorithm (for small k) with trivial enumeration (for large k) we obtain a O(1.59 n )-time polynomial-space algorithm for the weighted Steiner tree problem. As a second contribution of this paper, we present a O(1.55 n )-time polynomial-space algorithm for the cardinality version of the problem, where all edge weights are one. This result is based on a improved branching strategy. The refined branching is based on a charging mechanism which shows that, for large values of k, convenient local configurations of terminals and non-terminals exist. The analysis of the algorithm relies on the Measure & Conquer approach: the non-standard measure used here is a linear combination of the number of nodes and number of non-terminals. Using a recent result in Nederlof (International colloquium on automata, languages and programming (ICALP), pp. 713–725, 2009), the running time can be reduced to O(1.36 n ). The previous best algorithm for the cardinality case runs in O(1.42 n ) time and exponential space.  相似文献

Most popular feature selection methods for text classification such as information gain (also known as “mutual information”), chi-square, and odds ratio, are based on binary information indicating the presence/absence of the feature (or “term”) in each training document. As such, these methods do not exploit a rich source of information, namely, the information concerning how frequently the feature occurs in the training document (term frequency). In order to overcome this drawback, when doing feature selection we logically break down each training document of length k into k training “micro-documents”, each consisting of a single word occurrence and endowed with the same class information of the original training document. This move has the double effect of (a) allowing all the original feature selection methods based on binary information to be still straightforwardly applicable, and (b) making them sensitive to term frequency information. We study the impact of this strategy in the case of ordinal text classification, a type of text classification dealing with classes lying on an ordinal scale, and recently made popular by applications in customer relationship management, market research, and Web 2.0 mining. We run experiments using four recently introduced feature selection functions, two learning methods of the support vector machines family, and two large datasets of product reviews. The experiments show that the use of this strategy substantially improves the accuracy of ordinal text classification.  相似文献

Magnesium silicide (Mg2Si)-based alloys are promising candidates for thermoelectric (TE) energy conversion in the middle–high temperature range. The detrimental effect of the presence of MgO on the TE properties of Mg2Si based materials is widely known. For this reason, the conditions used for synthesis and sintering were optimized to limit oxygen contamination. The effect of Bi doping on the TE performance of dense Mg2Si materials was also investigated. Synthesis was performed by ball milling in an inert atmosphere starting from commercial Mg2Si powder and Bi powder. The samples were consolidated, by spark plasma sintering, to a density >95%. The morphology, and the composition and crystal structure of samples were characterized by field-emission scanning electronic microscopy and x-ray diffraction, respectively. Moreover, determination of Seebeck coefficients and measurement of electrical and thermal conductivity were performed for all the samples. Mg2Si with 0.1 mol% Bi doping had a ZT value of 0.81, indicative of the potential of this method for fabrication of n-type bulk material with good TE performance.  相似文献
