This work presents the fabrication and testing of a vibration-based single energy hybrid harvester (VSEHH). Electromagnetic and piezoelectric transduction mechanisms are utilized for energy extraction in the developed harvester. Electromagnetic portion of the device composed of a permanent magnet, planar coil and wound coil, however, for piezoelectric portion polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) membrane is used. In the harvester the PVDF membrane having the magnet is kept loose in order to exploit the spring softening nonlinearity. At lower base excitation levels (less than 0.5g) the response of the VSEHH is linear, however, from 0.5 to 2.5g the harvester exhibits spring softening nonlinearity and at acceleration levels greater than 2.5g, the spring hardening nonlinearity is invoked. Because of nonlinear behavior of the harvester, the shift of resonant frequency, the sudden jump-up and jump-down phenomena result in the enhancement of the harvester's frequency bandwidth. Under sinusoidal excitation and at 123 Hz frequency and 4g acceleration, the electromagnetic portion of the harvester produced 40.6 mV load voltage and 212.7 μW with planar coil and 73.5 mV load voltage and 319.1 μW power with wound coil. Moreover, under the same vibrations condition a load voltage of 2930 mV and power of 57.6 μW is generated by the piezoelectric portion of the harvester. Collectively, the harvester is capable of producing a power of 589.4 μW and a power density of 334.13 μW/cm3. Ground source heat pumps have high efficiency and high capital cost primarily due to borehole drillings. This research investigates the inclusion of high‐conductivity phase change material (PCM) in the borehole heat exchanger of a ground source heat pump to reduce the borehole length required and improve its coefficient of performance (COP). In the laboratory model, the borehole heat exchanger was represented by a cylindrical electrical heater having a total power of 9.216 W, operating for 1 hour while resting for 3 hours. Surrounding the heater in the annular region, either soil, PCM, or high‐conductivity PCM was used as grouting material. The annular region was surrounded by a large amount of soil enclosed in a large bin as a representation of ground soil. The high‐conductivity graphite was impregnated with the commercial PCM “PureTemp29.” Results from the experiments revealed that the PCM is able to decrease the temperature fluctuations in the annular and soil regions, while graphite increases the thermal conductivity of the annular region and hence increases the rate of heat dissipation from the heater to the soil surrounding it. The maximum COP values of a ground source heat pump calculated assuming ideal reversed Carnot cycle for cooling mode showed an increase of approximately 81% with PCM and by 112% with graphite‐enhanced PCM. 相似文献

A vibration isolator with energy harvesting abilities is presented in this work. The developed device is able to isolate the environment from vibration of appliances, such as household electrical generators, domestic refrigerators, microwave oven, and automobile's engine, and at the same time convert the vibration to electrical energy. The resulting energy produced by the device can be utilized to operate the wireless condition monitoring units. The developed device composed of piezoelectric disc embedded in silicone rubber and is able to exhibit a resonance at 56‐Hz frequency. When subjected to a sinusoidal force, an open circuit voltage of 1.7 V is generated by the devised harvester. Furthermore, the device generated an optimum power of 2.12 mW at a matching load of 340 kΩ and frequency (resonant) of 56 Hz. However, while operating in the isolation region, it is capable of producing a load voltage of 0.87 and 0.25 V and power of 1.8 and 0.51 mW at 1.4 and 3.5 frequency ratios, respectively. 相似文献

The removal of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solutions using sulfuric acid modified Cupressus semperirens cones (H2SO4-CSC), was investigated. Results showed that a pH value of 12 was favorable for the adsorption of MB and that the moisture and ash yields are suitable for industrial exploitation. A high porosity value was found, 68.1%. In agreement with its low content of basicity compared to its acidity, the H2SO4-CSC absorbent had an acidic behavior. Rate constants of pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, and nth kinetic model were determined to analyze the dynamic of the biosorption process; they showed that adsorption kinetics followed a pseudo-second-order and nth kinetic models. Ionic strength was shown to have a negative impact on the biosorption of MB onto H2SO4-CSC. The Sips isotherm model was found to be the most relevant to describe MB biosorption onto H2SO4-CSC with a correlation factor R2?>?0.999. The biosorption capacity of H2SO4-CSC was found to be 460?mg?g?1 at 10°C and 590?mg?g?1 at 25°C, confirming biosorbent efficiency for the removal of MB dye from aqueous solutions. Thermodynamic parameters indicated that the biosorption process of MB was endothermic and more effective at high temperatures. The values of ΔG° and ΔH° confirmed that the biosorption of MB onto H2SO4-CSC was spontaneous and endothermic in nature. An irregular increase in randomness at the H2SO4-CSC–solution interface during the biosorption process was suggested by the positive values of ΔS°. 相似文献

Rapid and accurate estimation of Ground Cover (GC) at regional and global scales for agricultural management application is only possible by using remote sensing (RS). In this study, two Vegetation Indices (VIs) including the Perpendicular Vegetation Index (PVI) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) were used for estimating GC. Since the parameters of the bare soil line have an important role in calculating GC based on PVI, this line was extracted based on the red-NIRmin (minimum near infrared) method with different intervals (0.0001, 0.0005, and 0.0010). In addition to traditional statistics such as Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), the sensitivity analysis (S) was also used to sharpen the accuracy of the models' estimations. The results indicated that the PVI-based method, in contrast to the NDVI-based approach, had a better performance in estimating GC of wheat. The highest correlation between the observed GC and the estimated GC based on PVI method was achieved in interval length of 0.0005 (R2 = 0.91) with RMSE equal to 8.82. This regression line (GCEST = -3.47 + 0.96 GCOBS) was not significantly different from the 1:1 line. As expected, the best estimation was achieved when the sensitivity of estimated GC based on PVI (length of the interval: 0.0005) was almost constant and low compared to the other models. 相似文献

A total of 12 glass-ionomer cement specimens were utilized in the present study. The specimens were divided into two equal groups. The first group was used after 10 minutes from setting, while the second was utilized after 24 hours from setting. Each group was divided into three equal subgroups (2 specimens each). The first subgroups were finished under wet condition (wet finished). The second subgroups were dry finished. On the other hand, the third subgroups were kept undisturbed (as set) under mylar strips. The specimens surfaces were then examined by a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). It was found that, finishing of the specimens after 24 hours from setting demonstrated more acceptable surface topography either in wet or dry conditions than finishing after 10 minutes from setting. Moreover, the dry finished specimens displayed more acceptable surface topography than the wet finished specimens. Nanocrystalline zinc oxide (ZnO) films were synthesized using cathodic reduction of Zn foil in aqueous electrolyte of different molar concentrations containing ZnCl2 and H2O2, followed by annealing at 400 °C in air. An X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) were used for characterization. The XRD patterns exhibited a set of well-defined diffraction peaks corresponding to the wurtzite phase of ZnO. SEM and TEM images clearly revealed the formation of randomly oriented ZnO nanowires having lengths of several microns and diameters less than 100 nm. From the field emission studies, the threshold field values, required to draw emission current density of ∼1 μA/cm2 were found to be 1.44, 1.36 and 1.5 V/μm for nanowires synthesized using 0.002, 0.004 and 0.016 M electrolyte concentrations, respectively. All Folwer–Nordheim (F–N) plots showed non-linear behavior indicating semiconducting nature of the emitters. The ZnO nanowires exhibited good emission current stability at the pre-set value of ∼10 μA over a duration of 6 h. The simplicity of the synthesis route coupled with the promising emission properties made the electrochemically synthesized ZnO nanowires a suitable candidate for high-current density applications. 相似文献
