Geometric optical reflectance models provide a physical linkage between image data and forest structure. We developed a "multiple-forward-mode" pseudoinversion modeling approach to produce structural lookup tables for Landsat Thematic Mapper images before and after 1993 partial harvests in New Brunswick, Canada. Modeling results validated for stand density, crown radius, and stem counts enabled simple forest structural change detection.  相似文献

Emitter pressures and flow rates were systematically and extensively sampled in one drip and one microspray field. The data distributions are presented. The accuracy of rapid (limited samples) evaluation pressure sampling procedures was found to be quite good if the pressure distribution was systematic, but erroneous if the pressure distribution throughout a field was random. A simple mathematical combination of two nonuniformity components (due to pressure differences, and other causes of flow variation) provided a better estimate of overall system distribution uniformity than more complex mathematics.  相似文献

A parallel simulated annealing algorithm that is problem-independent, maintains the serial decision sequence, and obtains speedup which can exceed log2P on P processors is discussed. The algorithm achieves parallelism by using the concurrency technique of speculative computation. Implementation of the parallel algorithm on a hypercube multiprocessor and application to a task assignment problem are described. The simulated annealing solutions are shown to be, on average, 28% better than the solutions produced by a random task assignment algorithm and 2% better than the solutions produced by a heuristic  相似文献

The general system of geomorphometry is composed of elevation, derivatives of elevation at a point, and moments of the distribution of elevation over some area. All of the point measures in this system can be obtained by computer processing of a digital elevation model (DEM), and they can be used as input to the analysis and classification of terrain. A suite of FORTRAN programs implementing this system for dense grid DEMs has been designed and used in various operating environments. Attention has been given to the methods used in the approximation of terrain concepts such as slope and relief. An area of high relief in subarctic Canada is used to illustrate the discussion.  相似文献

One of the persistently exciting control applications is that of disk drive servos. From the start in the early 1950s to the massive capacity commodity drives of the early 2000s, the problem of accessing data on rotating disk media has provided a wealth of control challenges to be solved. This survey paper traces the early history of disk drive control from the first disk drive in 1956 to the first commercial drive with Magneto-Resistive heads in 1990. Rather than the approach used in (Abramovitch and Franklin, 2002a) in which the histories of the components were outlined first, we will focus on the feedback loop itself in those early days. The paper will survey the different areas of the disk drive control problem and how they evolved.  相似文献

A number of methods to overcome the 2003 failure of the Landsat 7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper (ETM+) scan-line corrector (SLC) are compared in this article in a forest-monitoring application in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. The objective of this comparison is to determine the best approach to accomplish SLC-off image gap-filling for the particular landscape in this region, and thereby provide continuity in the Landsat data sensor archive for forest-monitoring purposes. Four methods were tested: (1) local linear histogram matching (LLHM); (2) neighbourhood similar pixel interpolator (NSPI); (3) geostatistical neighbourhood similar pixel interpolator (GNSPI); and (4) weighted linear regression (WLR). All methods generated reasonable SLC-off gap-filling data that were visually consistent and could be employed in subsequent digital image analysis. Overall accuracy, kappa coefficients (κ), and quantity and allocation disagreement indices were used to evaluate unsupervised Iterative Self-Organizing Data Analysis (ISODATA) land-cover classification maps. In addition, Pearson correlation coefficients (r) and root mean squares of the error (RMSEs) were employed for estimates agreement with fractional land cover. The best results visually (overall accuracy > 85%, κ < 9%, quantity disagreement index < 5.5%, and allocation disagreement index < 12.5%) and statistically (r > 0.84 and RMSE < 7%) were obtained from the GNSPI method. These results suggest that the GNSPI method is suitable for routine use in reconstructing the imagery stack of Landsat ETM+ SLC-off gap-filled data for use in forest-monitoring applications in this type of heterogeneous landscape.  相似文献

To provide a variety of new and advanced communications services, computer networks are required to perform increasingly complex packet processing. This processing typically takes place on network routers and their associated components. An increasingly central component in router design is a chip-multiprocessor (CMP) referred to as "network processor" or NP. In addition to multiple processors, NPs have multiple forms of on-chip memory, various network and off-chip memory interfaces, and other specialized logic components such as CAMs (content addressable memories). The design space for NPs (e.g., number of processors, caches, cache sizes, etc.) is large due to the diverse workload, application requirements, and system characteristics. System design constraints relate to the maximum chip area and the power consumption that are permissible while achieving defined line rates and executing required packet functions. In this paper, an analytic performance model that captures the processing performance, chip area, and power consumption for a prototypical NP is developed and used to provide quantitative insights into system design trade offs. The model, parameterized with a networking application benchmark, provides the basis for the design of a scalable, high-performance network processor and presents insights into how best to configure the numerous design elements associated with NPs.  相似文献

Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) and digital elevation model (DEM) data were used in a segmentation and classification procedure to classify slide scars in the northern Cascade Mountains of British Columbia, Canada. The area was stratified into features that were likely candidates for landsliding and those that were not; shape criteria were applied that were used to identify objects as slides; and finally, rules based on shape, texture and neighbouring features were used to separate soil‐dominated slides from bedrock‐dominated slides, an important distinction in mass movement inventories and for applied and theoretical studies. Approximately 65% classification accuracy was obtained. Slopes experiencing multiple failures, which can create less distinct features on the ground, may have contributed to some of the error in classification.  相似文献

During the period 1970-80, there were reported 146 cases of in-flight sudden incapacitation in the USAF. Of these, 62 involved pilots, 14 were navigators, and 70 were student pilots. The etiologies of sudden incapacitation included illness without loss of consciousness, loss of consciousness, spatial disorientation, and improper M-1 maneuver. Each of these categories is analyzed with emphasis upon prevention, for example, not flying with symptomatic preexisting disease, continued emphasis upon spatial disorientation training, and correct performance of the M-1 maneuver. Based upon the data, conclusions and recommendations are suggested to minimize the risk of episodes of in-flight sudden incapacitation.  相似文献
