A thermoelastic evaluation, based on simultaneous measurements of the mechanical work and of the concomitant heat of deformation by a stretching micro calorimeter, was performed on semicrystalline and glassy PEEK. The objective of this study was to utilize the sensitive technique to detect differences that would account for observed effects of micro structure on mechanical performance. A clear difference was detected beyond a 0.6% strain, where the behaviour of glassy PEEK began to exhibit inelastic features such as yielding and plastic deformation. This difference between the glassy and the semicrystalline polymers was considered the reason for the superior mechanical fatigue and fracture properties produced by the latter micro structure. 相似文献

The purpose of this work is to evaluate the effects of post-deposition heat treatments on high and low crystallinity hydroxyapatite coatings on Ti6Al4V alloy. HA layers were produced by the vacuum plasma spray (VPS) technique, and the desired degrees of crystallinity were obtained by changing the deposition parameters. An analysis of the mechanical properties of the coatings and their adhesion to the substrate has been done by shear strength test. X-ray diffraction analysis was used to detect the structure and the chemical components in which HA dissociates during the deposition process and heat treatments. The data obtained indicates that heat treatments can increase the crystallinity of HA, but they also introduce a mechanical degradation of the coatings. In recent years the development efforts for Siemens PWR fuel assemblies were mainly concentrated on reducing the fuel cycle costs and increasing the operational reliability of the fuel assemblies.The first objective was aimed at increasing the average discharge burnup to > 50 MWd/kgU and increasing the critical heat flux. The high envisaged burnup required to develop a corrosion resistant cladding tube outside the Zry-4 range. The decision was made to use a Duplex cladding tube consisting of a corrosion optimized outer layer on a Zry-4 base material. A ZrSnFeCr alloy with reduced tin content was chosen for the outer layer. The critical heat flux could be increased by introducing mixing vanes on the spacer grids within the active length.To reach the second objective, reliable avoidance of spacer grid damage during core loading and unloading and reduction of fuel rod defects by debris fretting, the spacer grid corners were improved and a debris separation grid was developed.These design improvements were introduced into the new FOCUS-type fuel assembly. A flow-cytometric method with fluorescence-labeled monoclonal antibodies (MABs) against the low density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor (C7A MAB) or 3,3'-dioctadecylindocarbocyanin-iodide (DiI) LDL has been developed that allows the quantification of LDL receptors on leukocytes and the identification of patients with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) within 48 hours. Leukocytes were isolated from 10 mL anticoagulated blood by density gradient centrifugation. To induce maximal expression of LDL receptors, mononuclear cells were preincubated with either phytohemagglutinine (PHA) or lipoprotein-deficient serum (LPDS). LPDS-treated monocytes provided a more homogeneous cell population with regard to LDL receptor activity than did the PHA-treated lymphocytes; they also provided a greater discrimination between the fluorescence of the receptor probes and cellular autofluorescence. The C7A MAB was able to compete for DiI LDL binding by about 40%. In competition with unlabeled LDL, DiI LDL revealed linear binding, indicating an affinity similar to native LDL. The binding characteristics of DiI LDL were also similar to 125I-LDL binding. LDL isolated from familial defective apolipoprotein B-100 was not able to compete for DiI LDL binding on monocytes, whereas native LDL reduced it by about 80%. In monocytes from FH heterozygous patients, the cellular mean fluorescence using either C7A MAB or DiI LDL at 4 degrees C was 30% to 70%; in FH homozygotes, cellular mean fluorescence was less than 20% of that in monocytes from normal individuals. In patients with familial defective apolipoprotein B-100 antibody binding was normal, but one patient's own LDL failed to compete with normal DiI LDL for 4 degrees C binding on U937 test monocytes. Patient monocytes having internalization defects showed normal 4 degrees C DiI LDL binding, but at 20 degrees C cell-associated fluorescence was reduced by about 40%. In our study 384 hypercholesterolemic patients (preselected according to serum cholesterol levels, clinical symptoms, and family history) were analyzed for LDL receptor expression using the C7A MAB-based assay. In 71.8% of the patients with cholesterol levels higher than 300 mg/dL, an LDL receptor deficiency was observed. Apolipoprotein E isoforms and lipoprotein[a] were found to be independent from the LDL receptor status. In some patients with high cholesterol levels but normal LDL receptor expression with the C7A MAB assay, LDL receptor defects could be diagnosed when either reduced binding or internalization of DiI LDL or familial defective apolipoprotein B-100 was detected.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 400 WORDS) 相似文献

We derive an effective single-band Hubbard type Hamiltonian for CuO2 planes. The Hamiltonian includes both electron-electron repulsion and electron-phonon coupling to oxygen vibrational modes. We start with first-principles density functional theory parameters and then map onto a single-band model. Unlike previous mappings to a single-band Hamiltonian, ours explicitly preserves the Fermi surface shape and matrix elements of the many-band Hamiltonian. We consider both in-plane oxygen breathing modes as well as out-of-plane tilting modes. The latter modes have a quadratic electron-phonon coupling, and are also highly anharmonic in La2CuO4 based superconductors. The coupling to breathing modes is too small to account for highT

Centralized and distributed automated guided vehicle system (AGVS) models for materials handling, and the model for part processing are integrated into a single coherent model. This formulation can be used to collectively schedule and control the entire flexible manufacturing system (FMS) as opposed to the traditional separate scheduling of part processing and material handling. The two AGVS models are based on Petri nets and can be directly used in the scheduling method that uses Petri nets for formulation and heuristic search for solution. This method employs a global search to seek the optimal operation of an entire FMS. The manufacturing message specification (MMS) is the ISO standard communication protocol specific to manufacturing. To analyze MMS design and performance, service unit automats are introduced to represent individual MMS services, while service connection Petri Nets (PNs) are constructed from these automats to describe MMS service connections and processes. This approach makes MMS protocol specification and analysis possible in terms of well-developed concepts and methods in PN theory. It leads to a distributed and hierarchical model of MMS software system by integrating service connection PNs. A generalized stochastic PN for MMS performance evaluation is obtained by incorporating service parameters and time factors into the model. The bistable field effect transistor (BISFET) is a novel inversion-channel switching device exhibiting abrupt current transitions and hysteresis in its output characteristics. The semiconductor structure of the BISFET is compatible with a range of electronic and optoelectronic devices. In this work, integration of a BISFET with an LED is reported. Both devices have been implemented on a single semiconductor substrate using a single fabrication sequence. The BISFET is used to current drive the LED. Enhanced performance is demonstrated in n-type metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors with channel regions formed by pseudomorphic growth of strained Si on relaxed Si1-xGex. Standard MOS fabrication techniques were utilized, including thermal oxidation of the strained Si. Surface channel devices show low-field mobility enhancements of 80% at room temperature and 12% at 10 K, when compared to control devices fabricated in Czochralski Si.
