An extensive study of rheological characteristics of coal tar and petroleum pitches with and without additives, namely, petroleum coke, natural graphite and carbon black has been made. It is found that all pitches, pure or mixed with a carbon additive are not Newtonian as reported in the literature, but behave Theologically as Bingham plastics with certain yield stress and plastic viscosity at all temperatures of measurement between 85–180°C. The yield stress and plastic viscosity both decrease with increase in temperature of the pitch. A pure petroleum pitch having the same softening point as that of a coal tar pitch is found to have a lower viscosity compared to that of the latter at all temperatures of measurement. This suggests that the criterion of softening point as a measure of suitability of a coal tar pitch binder in the manufacture of artificial carbon is not sufficient for petroleum pitches. Addition of ten parts of carbon black by weight of pitch results in a considerable decrease in viscosity change with temperature of the coal tar pitch compared to almost insignificant change in the case of the petroleum pitch of the same softening point. However, the addition of petroleum coke or natural graphite makes the pitch more viscous but does not change the temperature dependence of viscosity of either of the two types of pitches. This paper describes the investigations carried out on the kinetics of the solid-gas reaction between terephthalic acid and methyl alcohol in presence of phosphoric acid as the catalyst. As phosphoric acid itself reacts with the alcohol forming methyl phosphates, the kinetic data obtained have been analysed taking this reaction into account. The rate of formation of monomethyl phosphate has been found to be proportional to the square of the mole fraction of the acid present at any instant. The activation energy involved in this reaction is 11.3 kcal/g mole. The data obtained on terephthalic acid esterification show that; (i) the conversion sharply increases with an increase in the catalyst concentration between 30–35 per cent (w/w), (ii) the ‘shrinking particle’ model, proposed by Levenspiel for solid-gas reactions, can be conveniently adapted to represent the reaction, and (iii) the temperature dependency of the reaction follows the Arrhenius law, with activation energy being 11.5 kcal/g mole.  相似文献

Mixing time studies have been carried in a 0.3m diameter and 0.9m tall vessel equipped with three impellers. Conductivity measurement technique has been used for the measurements of mixing time. Effect of the various parameters i.e. tracer density, tracer volume, speed of rotation and impeller combination on mixing time has been studied for two impeller combinations used viz. PTD‐PTD‐PTD and PTD‐PTD‐DT. A compartment model (with one fitted parameter, the exchange flow rate QE) with single compartment per agitation stage has been used to predict the conductivity response and the exchange coefficients are calculated from the model parameter. An attempt has been made to explain the experimental results on the basis of the liquid phase axial dispersion coefficient and cell residence time, calculated from the model parameter QE  相似文献

Propylsulfonic acid-functionalized partially crystalline silicalite-1 materials were synthesized via one step co-condensation technique by varying the molar ratio of organosilane source, 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (3MP) to tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) in the range of 0.05–0.30, and subsequent oxidation of thiol group to propylsulfonic acid using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). These materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and nitrogen adsorption–desorption method. The structure of these materials was determined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and 29Si and 13C solid state NMR. XRD results show that % crystallinity of the materials decreased with the increase in 3MP concentration in the synthesis mixture. Selected area electron diffraction (SAED) showed the presence of crystalline and amorphous phases in the samples. An amorphous phase was formed when 3MP concentration was 30 mol% of the total silica source. After elimination of the structure directing agent (SDA) by calcination at 420 °C, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) shows that the structure was thermally stable up to 550 °C. Ammonia temperature-programmed desorption (NH3-TPD) shows that the acid capacity of these materials was in the range of 1.19–1.83 mmol H+/g, which shows that these materials could be used as potential heterogeneous acid catalyst.  相似文献

A two separate phase‐enzymatic membrane reactor is an attractive process since it has a large interfacial area and exchange surfaces, simultaneous reaction and separation and other benefits. Many factors influence its successful operation, and these include characteristics of the enzyme, membrane, circulating fluids and reactor operations. Although the operating conditions are the main factor, other factors must be considered before, during or after its application. At the initial stage of reactor development, the solubility of substrates and products, type of operation, membrane material and size, enzyme preparation and loading procedure, and cleanliness of the recirculated fluids should be specified. The immobilization site, reactor arrangement, dissolved or no‐solvent operation, classic or emulsion operation and immobilized or suspended enzyme(s) are determined later. Some factors still need further studies. Utilization of the technology is described for use from multigram‐ to plant‐scale capacity to process racemic and achiral compounds. The racemates were resolved primarily by kinetic resolution, but dynamic kinetic resolution has been exploited. PIN-FORMED (PIN) genes play a crucial role in regulating polar auxin distribution in diverse developmental processes, including tropic responses, embryogenesis, tissue differentiation, and organogenesis. However, the role of PIN-mediated auxin transport in various plant species is poorly understood. Currently, no information is available about this gene family in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). In the present investigation, we identified the PIN gene family in wheat to understand the evolution of PIN-mediated auxin transport and its role in various developmental processes and under different biotic and abiotic stress conditions. In this study, we performed genome-wide analysis of the PIN gene family in common wheat and identified 44 TaPIN genes through a homology search, further characterizing them to understand their structure, function, and distribution across various tissues. Phylogenetic analyses led to the classification of TaPIN genes into seven different groups, providing evidence of an evolutionary relationship with Arabidopsis thaliana and Oryza sativa. A gene exon/intron structure analysis showed a distinct evolutionary path and predicted the possible gene duplication events. Further, the physical and biochemical properties, conserved motifs, chromosomal, subcellular localization, transmembrane domains, and three-dimensional (3D) structure were also examined using various computational approaches. Cis-elements analysis of TaPIN genes showed that TaPIN promoters consist of phytohormone, plant growth and development, and stress-related cis-elements. In addition, expression profile analysis also revealed that the expression patterns of the TaPIN genes were different in different tissues and developmental stages. Several members of the TaPIN family were induced during biotic and abiotic stress. Moreover, the expression patterns of TaPIN genes were verified by qRT-PCR. The qRT-PCR results also show a similar expression with slight variation. Therefore, the outcome of this study provides basic genomic information on the expression of the TaPIN gene family and will pave the way for dissecting the precise role of TaPINs in plant developmental processes and different stress conditions.  相似文献

This study deals with the utility of mini spray dryer process to improve the dispersibility, of graphene oxide(GO) and its application for high-performance supercapacitor. Initially, the neutral solution of GO was obtained using the modified Hummer's method. After this, the prepared GO solution was processed by mini spray dryer to obtain a more purified, lighter, and dispersed form of GO which is named as spray dryer processed GO (SPGO). The SPGO thus obtained showed excellent dispersibility behavior with various solvents, which is not found in case of conventional oven drying. Furthermore, utility of SPGO and its reduced form (r-SPGO) for supercapacitor applications have been investigated. Results obtained from the cyclic voltammetry(CV) analysis, impedance, and charge-discharge behavior of supercapacitor fabricated using r-SPGO shows enhanced features. Therefore, the simple spray dried GO and its reduced form, that is, r-SPGO can be utilized as a potential candidate for the supercapacitor application. Herein, as synthesized SPGO exhibited the specific capacitance of 12.07 and 37.6 F/g with PVA-H3PO4 and 1 mol/L H3PO4, respectively, at a scan rate of 5 mV/s. On the other hand, reduced form of SPGO, that is, r-SPGO showed the specific capacitance of 27.16 and 230 F/g with PVA-H3PO4 and 1 mol/L H3PO4, respectively.  相似文献

The steam generation processes at the steam-assisted gravity drainage facilities result in huge quantities of wastewater streams, which are characterized by high pH and high silica levels. These concentrated streams need to be neutralized before their disposal via down-hole injection. The neutralization of these high-pH brines results in the formation of a gel-like substance, which makes it difficult to filter the amorphous silica gel. The wastewater used in this study was synthetically prepared using sodium metasilicate to mimic high-concentration silica solutions. Our experiments did not show any advantage of a two-step pH-neutralization process over the single-step process for suppressing silica gelation. A systematic experimental campaign was undertaken to investigate the effects of SiO2 concentration, NaCl:SiO2 ratio, and pH on the residual silica concentration, percent silica removal, filtration rate, and filtration effectiveness. For NaCl:SiO2 ratios higher than 4.5, silica precipitation during pH reduction did not lead to the formation of gel or sol. The response surface methodology (RSM), based on the Doehlert design of experiments, was implemented to optimize the responses and provide high efficacy with fewer experiments. The results from the analysis of variance (ANOVA) analyses of the experimental data were used to evaluate the significance of each term in the quadratic model. 3D response surfaces and 2D contour plots were generated for determining the optimal ranges of independent factors for achieving the maximum silica removal, the highest filtration rate, the best filtration effectiveness, and the minimum residual silica concentration. An optimum operating region was established from the RSM analysis and overlay plot.  相似文献
