For a long time, store-and-forward had been the transport mode in network communications. In other words, information had been regarded as a commodity that
only needs to be routed through the network, possibly with replication at the intermediate nodes. In the late 1990’s, a new
concept called network coding fundamentally changed the way a network can be operated. Under the paradigm of network coding, information can be processed
within the network for the purpose of transmission. It was demonstrated that compared with store-and-forward, the network
throughput can generally be increased by employing network coding. Since then, network coding has made significant impact
on different branches of information science. The impact of network coding has gone as far as mathematics, physics, and biology.

Smectite is usually used as buffer clay for contaminant of high level nuclear waste canisters. Corrosion of the canisters will expose the buffer clay to Cu2+ ions as one of the corrosion products. This study investigates the effect of Cu2+ cations in a smectite, with and without addition of sodium carbonate in the clay, on its consolidation behavior and transmission characteristics. Characterization experiments conducted in the study included determination of changes in the buffering capacity and permeability properties of the clay in relation to the presence of varying concentrations of Cu2+, and consolidation experiments. Double-layer swelling forces and buffering capacity are seen to be dominant factors in the performance of the clays—apparently through their influence on formation and restructuring of microstructures in the overall smectite clay mixtures. 相似文献

Fouling in membrane coupled photocatalytic reactors was investigated in the case of greywater treatment by establishing the link between product type, dose, irradiation time and fouling rates in a cross flow membrane cell fitted with a 0.4 μm pore sized polyethylene membrane. Rapid fouling occurred only with shower gels and conditioners and was linked to changes in the organo-TiO2 aggregate size postulated to be caused by polymers within the products. Fouling was reduced to a negligible level when sufficient irradiation was applied demonstrating that the membrane component of the process is not the issue and that scale up and implementation of the process relates to effective design of the UV reactor. 相似文献

Trihydroxamate siderophores have been proposed for use as mediators of actinide and heavy metal mobility in contaminated subsurface zones. These microbially produced ligands, common in terrestrial and marine environments, recently have been derivatized synthetically to enhance their affinity for transuranic metal cations. However, the interactions between these synthetic derivative and adsorbed trace metals have not been characterized. In this paper we compare a natural siderophore, desferrioxamine-B (DFO-B), with its actinide-specific catecholate derivative, N-(2,3-dihydroxy-4-(methylamido)benzoyl)desferrioxamine-B (DFOMTA), as to their effect on the adsorption of Pb(II) and Eu(III) by goethite and boehmite. In the presence of 240 microM DFO-B, a strongly depleting effect on Eu(III) adsorption by goethite and boehmite occurred above pH 6. By contrast, almost total removal of Eu(III) from solution in the neutral to slightly acidic pH range was observed in the presence of either 10 or 100 microM DFOMTA, due primarilyto the formation of metal-DFOMTA precipitates. Addition of DFOMTA caused an increase in Pb(II) adsorption by goethite below pH 5, but a decrease above pH 5, such that the Pb(II) adsorption edge in the presence of DFOMTA strongly resembled the DFOMTA adsorption envelope, which showed a maximum near pH 5 and decreasing adsorption toward lower and higher pH. 相似文献
