Clustering algorithm for the topological design of hierarchical,multidrop data networks

Imulec, a clustering algorithm for the interactive design of hierarchical centralized data networks is presented. The algorithm locates potential concentrator sites of various levels using a clustering procedure. It is capable of handling different types of concentrators and provides a multidrop line layout of the network considering various constraints, such as line capacities, maximum traffic per concentrator, maximum number of input ports to a concentrator etc. The designs obtained are compared with previous published results.     

Creep correlations of metals at elevated temperatures

Creep data for pure metals at temperatures above those at which rapid recovery occurs (above about 0.45 the melting temperature) are correctable by means of the equations ? = f (te^?ΔH/RT, σ) and σ = f (?&#x0307 _s e^ΔH/RT). These correlations were applied successfully to data for aluminum, iron, nickel, copper, zinc, platinum, gold, and lead as well as for simple alloys. For a given metal, ΔH is a constant about equal to the activation energy for self-diffusion.     

Mechanisms of group psychotherapy: Processes and dynamics.

"Some 300 articles in the literature of group psychotherapy were examined to locate expressions referring to effecting dynamic processes of therapy. Some 200 items were obtained and reduced by inspection to nine general classes and a miscellaneous class. The nine general classes appear to reduce to three factors: an intellectual one, consisting of universalization, intellectualization, and spectator therapy; an emotional one, consisting of acceptance, altruism and transference; and an actional factor, consisting of reality testing, interaction, and ventilation." Cattell replies to Becker's "comments."

A reply to comments made by Becker (see record 1962-03097-001) regarding R. B. Cattel's original article (see record 1962-03095-001). The positive conceptual and experimental contributions of my paper appearing since his comments, he either misses or ignores, since they show: (a) that it was impossible for him to reach any intelligible conclusion on the theory without recognizing and developing the necessary corrections for attenuation and perturbation, and (b) that the facts which he says I must and do recognize are those chosen by Becker from experiments with older techniques. Science moves on, and the new facts which I present from technically more advanced designs show that the same factor simultaneously loads on the hypothesized markers for both the rating and the questionnaire factors. The fracture toughness of a ferrous maraging alloy containing manganese

A Fe-20 pct Co-15 pct Mn-5 pct Mo maraging alloy has been found to exhibit low toughness and brittle fracture throughout its response to age-hardening. Intergranular embrittlement associated with segregation of manganese and with residual oxygen (15 to 300 ppm) in the early stages of aging was replaced by brittle inter-lath separation as aging progressed, the latter mode being associated with intermetallic precipitation and, possibly, the presence of finely-dispersed austenite. Tensile,fracture toughness and crack growth properties of a roll-extruded HP 9Ni-4Co-25C steel alloy

A section of internal roll-extruded HP 9Ni-4Co-25C steel alloy was obtained from an experimental 120-in. rocket motor case for Titan III and sent to the Air Force Materials Laboratory for evaluation by the Space and Missile System Organization (SAMSO). Tensile and fracture toughness properties were obtained at room temperature and at ?65°F. Crack growth properties were obtained at room temperature in laboratory air and in distilled water. An increase in tensile strength and a decrease in ductility were observed to occur with increased cold forming reduction. Fracture toughness properties appeared to decrease with increased rolling reduction. Fatigue crack growth properties in laboratory air were compatible with other high strength steels for the lower ΔK values. Fatigue crack growth properties in distilled water showed no acceleration due to aqueous environment influences. Statically loaded stress corrosion crack (SCC) growth properties were an improvement over available D6ac steel alloy data.
