In order to improve the thermal efficiency of building thermal energy storage (TES) systems, the feasibility of using encapsulated phase change materials (EPCMs) as heat storage media is analysed in this work. Specifically, the finite element method is used to perform thermal behaviour analyses of several EPCMs. These analyses include technical and economic assessments in order to identify the best combination of PCM and shell material, using as main parameters: thermal energy storage, heat transfer rate, materials cost, among others. The results show that EPCMs composed by Na2SO4·6H2O as PCM and covered by stainless steel highlight as TES materials.  相似文献

Abstract

The presence of an alkali such as sodium hydroxide (NaOH) within a process of enhanced recovery of crude oil having certain acidity allows the formation of surfactants with the ability of enhancing the separation of the crude oil from the reservoir rock where it is adsorbed due to a change of wettability. This work focused on studying the effect of NaOH on the enhanced recovery, in terms of the SARA composition, of two different API gravity crude oils (38.5 and 24.1°) having different total acid number. The results showed the existence of acid components with high and low reactivity to NaOH in the crude oil, where the first group is responsible of the in-situ synthesis of the surfactant. Moreover, it was found that the utilization of the alkali improved the recovery of the SARA fractions for each crude oil, especially for the 24.1°API crude oil for which the recovery resulted twice or three times higher to the evaluated for the 38.5°API crude oil. Additionally, it was found that a minimum of 0.2?wt% of NaOH reduced up to 4 times the value of the interfacial tension between the crude oil and the brine, regardless of the type of crude oil.  相似文献

The effect of colloidal silica on the hydration reaction of the Portland cement system and its effect on the resulting mechanical properties are not completely understood. Silica nanoparticles can affect the behavior and performance of fiber–cement, such as the calcium–silicate–hydrate gel of the matrix and the fiber–matrix interface bonding. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of various contents of colloidal silica (0, 1.5, 3, 5, and 10 % w/w) on the microstructure and mechanical performance of cement composites reinforced with cellulosic pulp. Fiber–cement composites with unbleached eucalyptus Kraft pulp as the micro-fiber reinforcement were produced by the slurry dewatering technique followed by pressing. The average values of the modulus of rupture of the fiber–cement decreased with increasing colloidal silica content. However, the pullout of the fibers increased significantly in the fiber–cement composites with additions between 3 and 10 % w/w of colloidal silica suspension, as indicated in the scanning electron microscopy images and by the improvement in the energy of fracture values.  相似文献

Understanding and controlling the chemical reactivity of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is a fundamental requisite to prepare novel nanoscopic structures with practical uses in materials applications. Here, we present a comprehensive microscopic and spectroscopic characterization of carbon nanotubes which have been chemically modified. Specifically, scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) investigations of short-oxidized single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) functionalized with aliphatic chains via amide reaction reveal the presence of bright lumps both on the sidewalls and at the tips. The functionalization pattern is consistent with the oxidation reaction which mainly occurs at the nanotube tips. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), steady-state electronic absorption (UV-vis-NIR), and Raman spectroscopic studies confirm the STM observations.  相似文献

A detailed study of the thermal and strain sensitivities of a long-period grating when the device is immersed in different external media is presented. The range of refractive indices analyzed are within 1.000 to 1.447, corresponding to samples of air, water, ethanol, naphtha, thinner, turpentine, and kerosene. Within the same range of refractive indices, the strain sensitivity is between (-0.24 +/- 0.03) and (-0.94 +/- 0.11) pm/microepsilon. For the grating immersed in these fluids, the refractive index sensitivity ranges from -3 to -1035.6 nm per refractive index units. The coupling thermo-optic coefficients and the strain-optic coefficients are also measured, resulting in the range from (2.45 +/- 0.04)x10(-5) to (15.89 +/- 0.82)x10(-5) deg C(-1) and (-1.15 +/- 0.04) to (-1.61 +/- 0.04) microepsilon(-1), respectively. A noticeable nonlinear behavior of the thermal sensitivity is found for external media with refractive indices higher than 1.430.  相似文献

As achieving Brazil’s National Policy on Solid Waste-based goals effectively is not simple, there are alternatives such as intermunicipal cooperation by consortium or privatization. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the Greenhouse Gas emissions and energy use of six scenarios in two landfills contexts (private and consortium) for small municipalities (less than 100,000 inhabitants as per Brazilian standards) located in São Paulo, Brazil. Through the technique of scenario building and method of Waste Reduction Model was possible to obtain the total energy, the amount of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2E) and carbon equivalent (CE) emissions. The best scenario integrates composting and recycling, reducing 72 % for CO2E and CE emissions, and saving about 410 % in energy. The landfill consortium will only take advantage, if the location is the most ideal as far as possible. Small municipalities that do not dispose their waste in landfills compatible with regulatory standards may seek for intermunicipal cooperation and adopt integrated waste-management programmes to reduce their environmental impacts.  相似文献

In recent years, near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy has been investigated as a tool for monitoring anaerobic digesters, but several adversities in its application have been reported. This study proposes the application of NIR for the determination of alcohols and volatile organic acids from H2 production bioreactors and evaluates different approaches to optimize the prediction models. Partial least squad (PLS) models were developed using samples from anaerobic batch reactors fed with crude glycerol for wastewater treatment. The analytes predicted were: methanol, ethanol, 1-butanol, acetic, propanoic, butyric, isocaproic and total volatile organic acids (VFA). The optimization of the predictive capacity of the models was achieved through the orthogonal signal correction (OSC) preprocessing and the selection of variables performed by the genetic algorithm (GA). The application of the proposed models were based on the following figures of merit: accuracy, precision, linearity, limits of detection and quantitation, measurement interval, sensitivity, selectivity, signal-to-noise ratio and bias. Despite the low selectivity (maximum of 0.12%), the models presented high sensitivity [γ?1 = 0.19 (mg L?1)?1], low LOQ (1 mg L?1) and correlation between reference and predicted values (r) at least 0.93, except for propanoic acid (rpred = 0.85). The F-test revealed that the selection of variables by GA significantly improved the accuracy and linearity of the prediction models for methanol, acetic acid, isocaproic acid and VFA. NIR spectroscopy has proved to be a powerful tool for monitoring H2 production bioreactors since provides fast, low cost and multicomponent information.  相似文献

This study evaluated the effects of different gastrointestinal digestion models in vitro on the bioaccessibility of phenolics and antioxidant activity in juçara frozen pulp. In the sequence, method 3 was applied to juçara fruit in three different stages of maturation (vitrin – reddish fruits, mature – purple fruits, tuíra – deep purple fruits). In the method applied, the final pH adopted was 5.0, in order to avoid interference in the assay used to determine the antioxidant activity, and BHT was used to prevent excessive oxidation in the system. In this method, higher values for antioxidant activity were obtained (3574.95–3719.10 μmol L?1 Trolox 100 g?1 pulp) compared with the other two methods tested (1969.14–3034.74 μmol L?1 Trolox 100 g?1 pulp). In relation to juçara fruit, the mature stage was found to be ideal for processing, showing generally higher values of the bioaccessibility for phenolics and antioxidant activity compared to other maturation stages.  相似文献
