Wound healing has long been recognised as a major clinical challenge for which stablishing more effective wound therapies is necessary. The generation of metallic nanocomposites using biological compounds is emerging as a new promising strategy for this purpose. In this study, four metallic nanoparticles (NPs) with propolis extract (Ext) and one without propolis including ZnO/Ext, ZnO/Ag/Ext, ZnO/CuO/Ext, ZnO/Ag/CuO/Ext and ZnO/W were prepared by microwave method and assessed for their wound healing activity on excision experimental model of wounds in rats. The developed nanocomposites have been characterised by physico‐chemical methods such as X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance UV–vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analyses. The wounded animals treated with the NPs/Ext in five groups for 18 days. Every 6 days, for measuring wound closure rate, three samples of each group were examined for histopathological analysis. The prepared tissue sections were investigated by haematoxylin and Eosin stainings for the formation of epidermis, dermis and muscular and Masson''s trichrome staining for the formation of collagen fibres. The monoclonal antibody Py was previously developed as a tool for the identification of subpopulations of hippocampal neurons. Here, the differential distribution of Py immunoreactivity in the mid-brain is described showing that Py also serves as a useful marker for other populations of neurons. Medium to strong immunoreactivity was observed in the cell body and dendrites of neurons of the oculomotor nucleus, superior colliculus and substantia gelatinosa reticulata. However, particularly intense Py-immunoreactivity was identified in the magnocellular neurons in the caudal pole of the red nucleus. Unilateral transection of the rubrospinal tract at Th9-10 induced a marked reduction of Py immunoreactivity in the ventrolateral territory of the caudal pole of the axotomised red nucleus. A small but statistically significant reduction of Py-immunoreactivity was first seen at 7 days after surgery and a maximal loss of immunoreactivity (reduced to 66% of control levels) was observed by 21 days after surgery. Immunoreactivity in the axotomised red nucleus was reduced for the duration of the experiment but at the longer survival times studied (3 and 6 months) a small degrees of recovery of staining was observed in small-medium diameter atrophic neurons. These results indicate that monoclonal antibody Py, may be a useful novel and sensitive tool for investigating the cell body reaction of particular populations of axotomised CNS neurons following spinal cord injury.  相似文献

In this paper, the implicit method of characteristics (IMOC) is extended to simulate the transient flow caused by load variation of hydroelectric power plants. The IMOC was proposed recently by the authors to remove the limitations of the commonly used conventional method of characteristics (MOC) and subsequently used for the simulation of transient flow caused by valve closure and pump failure. In the IMOC, an element-wise definition is used for all devices that may be used in a pipeline system and the corresponding equations are then assembled to form a system of equations that is solved for the unknown nodal heads and flows at each time step. In this paper, the IMOC is extended for the simulation of transient flow in the pipeline system upstream of a hydroelectric power plant. For this, an element-wise definition of the hydroelectric power plants and simple surge tank is proposed and their governing equations are derived in a matrix form required by the IMOC. Then these equations are assembled along with those of other devices of the pipeline system to construct a system of equations that is solved for the unknown head and flow. To further improve the convergence characteristics of the method, an improved formulation of the turbine is also proposed. In the proposed formulation, one of the turbine characteristic parameters, namely turbine net head, is used in addition to turbine head and discharges, to formulate the behavior of the turbine element. The method is applied to a problem of transient flow caused by load rejection and acceptance and the results are presented and compared with those of the explicit MOC. The results show the ability of the proposed method to accurately predict the variations of head and flow in the cases considered. It is also shown that the improved formulation of the turbine is computationally more efficient than the original formulation while producing the same results.  相似文献

Scaling is an important operation because of the iterative nature of arithmetic processes in digital signal processors (DSPs). In residue number system (RNS)–based DSPs, scaling represents a performance bottleneck based on the complexity of inter‐modulo operations. To design an efficient RNS scaler for special moduli sets, a body of literature has been dedicated to the study of the well‐known moduli sets {2n ? 1, 2n, 2n + 1} and {2n, 2n ? 1, 2n+1 ? 1}, and their extension in vertical or horizontal forms. In this study, we propose an efficient programmable RNS scaler for the arithmetic‐friendly moduli set {2n+p, 2n ? 1, 2n+1 ? 1}. The proposed algorithm yields high speed and energy‐efficient realization of an RNS programmable scaler based on the effective exploitation of the mixed‐radix representation, parallelism, and a hardware sharing technique. Experimental results obtained for a 130 nm CMOS ASIC technology demonstrate the superiority of the proposed programmable scaler compared to the only available and highly effective hybrid programmable scaler for an identical moduli set. The proposed scaler provides 43.28% less power consumption, 33.27% faster execution, and 28.55% more area saving on average compared to the hybrid programmable scaler.  相似文献

Tungsten carbide has both industrial and military applications, from high strength end mill dies and geological drilling, to kinetic energy penetrators. In these extreme environments, an understanding of the dynamic fracture properties and the potential influence of grade microstructure is necessary. The present work investigates fracture behavior of cobalt and nickel cemented tungsten carbide with varying grain size and binder content. Notched hardmetal WC-Co and WC-Ni samples are impacted under mode-I (opening) fracture conditions, and the dynamic stress intensity factor is determined from digital image correlation using ultra high-speed imaging, and compared with quasi-static values. In both grain size and binder content variants examined, the dynamic fracture toughness increased from the quasi-static by a factor of 1.51–2.44. In addition, a 7% increase in cobalt binder content (while maintaining nominally identical average grain size) resulted in a 20% increase in quasi-static fracture toughness, from 8.62 to 10.38 MPa\(\sqrt{\text {m}}\); while the same binder increase resulted in a 34% decrease in critical SIF from 21.07 to 15.72 MPa\(\sqrt{\text {m}}\). The 6% nickel binder WC was found to have a 4.5% higher quasi-static fracture toughness than the 6% cobalt binder WC of the same grain size, but a statistically insignificant difference under dynamic loading. Overall, there is a 28% increase in the quasi-static fracture toughness of tungsten carbide samples with an increase of average grain size from 1 to 3 \(\upmu \)m, and under dynamic loading the larger grain WC shows a nominally identical increase in fracture toughness. These findings are discussed within the theory of classical dynamic fracture mechanics, the implications of the experimental configurations pursued, and the microstructural features are examined using fractography.  相似文献

In order to optimize the aging treatment of Mg‐1.8Zn‐0.7Si‐0.4Ca alloy, different times and temperatures of solid solution and age hardening were applied to the alloy specimens. Microstructures and mechanical properties of the specimens were investigated using the optical microscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy equipped with an energy dispersive x‐ray spectrometer, x‐ray diffraction, hardness, and shear punch tests. The lowest hardness and strength were achieved by solution treating of the alloy at 500 °C for 8 h, presenting the optimal condition for solution treatment of the alloy. The microstructural examinations revealed three different precipitates consisting of CaMgSi, Ca2Mg6Zn3, and Mg2Si in the solid solution specimens. It was found that the highest peak hardness and strength are obtained by aging the alloy at 150 °C for 16 h. This condition was confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) tests performed on the solid solution and aged specimens.  相似文献
