Abstract

The efficiency of the partitioning of trivalent actinides from a PUREX raffinate is demonstrated with a TODGA+TBP extractant mixture dissolved in an industrial aliphatic solvent TPH. Based on the results of cold and hot batch extraction studies and with the aid of computer code calculations, a continuous counter‐current process is developed and two flowsheets are tested using miniature centrifugal contactors. The feed solution used is a synthetic PUREX raffinate, spiked with 241Am, 244Cm, 252Cf, 152Eu, and 134Cs. More than 99.9% of the trivalent actinides and lanthanides are extracted and back‐extracted and very high decontamination factors are obtained for most fission products. The co‐extraction of zirconium, molybdenum, and palladium is prevented using oxalic acid and HEDTA. However, 10% of ruthenium is extracted and only 3% is back‐extracted using diluted nitric acid. The experimental steady‐state concentration profiles of important solutes are determined and compared with model calculations and good agreement is generally obtained.  相似文献

Meso-structured and ladder organic–inorganic hybrid materials functionalized with ammonium carboxylate groups were prepared. These materials were obtained by the sol–gel process starting from the cyanopropyltriethoxysilane precursor as a building block. Hydrolysis of CN to COOH groups followed by treatment with triethylamine gives rise to cationic exchange materials. These materials exhibit a high chelating capability towards cations and can be used for water treatment. Lead ion (Pb2+) was tested as example; and, some tests were made on the meso-structured and ladder material for further comparison in efficacy of extractions.  相似文献

Lubricant‐treated ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) composites were prepared by compression molding. Composites were made from mixtures containing up to 5.0 wt % of lubricant. Two solid lubricants, molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), and carbon black (CB), and one liquid lubricant, perfluoropolyether (PFPE), were used in the study. UHMWPE and the lubricants formed 3D networks, where the lubricant was evenly spread over the UHMWPE particles. The amounts of MoS2 and CB were determined by thermogravimetric analyses, and the amounts of PFPE by ATR‐IR spectroscopy. All the lubricant treated composites showed better friction properties than pure UHMWPE. The addition of PFPE to UHMWPE improved the hydrophobicity of the surface, whereas the addition of solid lubricant had little effect. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Pharmacogenomic studies in epilepsy are justified by the high prevalence rate of this disease and the high cost of its treatment, frequent drug resistance, different response to the drug, the possibility of using reliable methods to assess the control of seizures and side effects of antiepileptic drugs. Candidate genes encode proteins involved in pharmacokinetic processes (drug transporters, metabolizing enzymes), pharmacodynamic processes (receptors, ion channels, enzymes, regulatory proteins, secondary messengers) and drug hypersensitivity (immune factors). This article provides an overview of the literature on the influence of genetic factors on treatment in epilepsy.  相似文献

The methyl ester mixture obtained from rape oil, and the mixture of butyl esters produced from animal fatty acids, were converted into mixtures of ketones with a total yield above 65%. The experiments were performed at atmospheric pressure in a temperature range of 300–400 °C using a standard flow system, with an iron catalyst modified with silicon, chromium, and potassium oxides, in the molar ratio of 100 : 2 : 1 : 0.1. Current research suggests that wine contains substances that may reduce the mortality rate from coronary diseases. The oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is thought to be a key step in the development of atherosclerosis. Phenolic fractions of a Petite Syrah wine were evaluated for their antioxidant activity in inhibiting LDL oxidation in vitro . The more active fractions contained components of the catechin family. The catechin oligomers and the procyanidin dimers (B2, B3, B4, B6, B8) and trimers (C1, C2) were extracted, isolated and purified from grapes seeds. These compounds were tested for their inhibition of LDL oxidation, along with other monomeric wine phenolics. The procyanidin dimers B2 and B8, and trimer C1, and the monomers catechin, epicatechin and myricetin had the highest antioxidant activity. The procyanidin dimers B3, B4 and C2 and the monomers gallic acid, quercetin, caffeic acid, and rutin, and a group of compounds that included the dimer B6, ellagic acid, sinapic acid, cyanidin had lower antioxidant activity and α-tocopherol had the least activity. Thus, the numerous phenolic compounds found in wine are potent antioxidants in inhibiting LDL oxidation in vitro .  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of candelilla (CAN) or carnauba wax (CAR) incorporation on functional properties of edible sodium caseinate (CAS) films. Glycerol and Tween-80 were used as the plasticizer and the emulsifier, respectively. The results showed that the incorporation of waxes increased film opacity, total color differences (∆E), and mechanical resistance and reduced film lightness, water vapor permeability (WVP), and elongation at break. Scanning electron microscopy showed heterogeneous structure of emulsion films with regular distribution of lipid particles. A different internal arrangement was observed as a function of the film composition with both layered and incorporated film structure. Films containing candelilla wax exhibited more regular lipid reorganization, which resulted in better water vapor barrier efficacy and mechanical resistance in comparison to control films. The presence of Tween-80 resulted in better dispersion of lipid particles in film-forming solutions and lower water solubility, lightness, film opacity, and water vapor permeability, whereas the total color differences (∆E) were significantly larger and the improvement in mechanical properties was also achieved.  相似文献

Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is a hereditary genetic disorder caused by the lack of motile cilia or the assembxly of dysfunctional ones. This rare human disease affects 1 out of 10,000–20,000 individuals and is caused by mutations in at least 50 genes. The past twenty years brought significant progress in the identification of PCD-causative genes and in our understanding of the connections between causative mutations and ciliary defects observed in affected individuals. These scientific advances have been achieved, among others, due to the extensive motile cilia-related research conducted using several model organisms, ranging from protists to mammals. These are unicellular organisms such as the green alga Chlamydomonas, the parasitic protist Trypanosoma, and free-living ciliates, Tetrahymena and Paramecium, the invertebrate Schmidtea, and vertebrates such as zebrafish, Xenopus, and mouse. Establishing such evolutionarily distant experimental models with different levels of cell or body complexity was possible because both basic motile cilia ultrastructure and protein composition are highly conserved throughout evolution. Here, we characterize model organisms commonly used to study PCD-related genes, highlight their pros and cons, and summarize experimental data collected using these models.  相似文献

GPR18 receptor protein was detected in the heart and vasculature and appears to play a functional role in the cardiovascular system. We investigated the effects of the new GPR18 agonists PSB-MZ-1415 and PSB-MZ-1440 and the new GPR18 antagonist PSB-CB-27 on isolated human pulmonary arteries (hPAs) and compared their effects with the previously proposed, but unconfirmed, GPR18 ligands NAGly, Abn-CBD (agonists) and O-1918 (antagonist). GPR18 expression in hPAs was shown at the mRNA level. PSB-MZ-1415, PSB-MZ-1440, NAGly and Abn-CBD fully relaxed endothelium-intact hPAs precontracted with the thromboxane A2 analog U46619. PSB-CB-27 shifted the concentration-response curves (CRCs) of PSB-MZ-1415, PSB-MZ-1440, NAGly and Abn-CBD to the right; O-1918 caused rightward shifts of the CRCs of PSB-MZ-1415 and NAGly. Endothelium removal diminished the potency and the maximum effect of PSB-MZ-1415. The potency of PSB-MZ-1415 or NAGly was reduced in male patients, smokers and patients with hypercholesterolemia. In conclusion, the novel GPR18 agonists, PSB-MZ-1415 and PSB-MZ-1440, relax hPAs and the effect is inhibited by the new GPR18 antagonist PSB-CB-27. GPR18, which appears to exhibit lower activity in hPAs from male, smoking or hypercholesterolemic patients, may become a new target for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.  相似文献
