Second-rank fabric tensors have been extensively used to describe structural anisotropy and to predict orthotropic elastic constants. However, there are many different definitions of, and approaches to, determining the fabric tensor. Most commonly used is a fabric tensor based on mean intercept length measurements, but star volume distribution and star length distribution are commonly used, particularly in studies of trabecular bone. Here, we investigate the effect of the fabric tensor definition on elastic constant predictions using both synthetic, idealized microstructures as well as a micrograph of a porous ceramic. We use an efficient implantation of a symmetric Galerkin boundary element method to model the mechanical response of the various microstructures, and also use a boundary element approach to calculate the necessary volume averages of stress and strain to obtain the effective properties of the media.  相似文献

The method of fundamental solutions is applied to the computation of stress intensity factors in linear elastic fracture mechanics. The displacements are approximated by linear combinations of the fundamental solutions of the Cauchy–Navier equations of elasticity and the leading terms for the displacement near the crack tip. Freeform optical surfaces embedded in three-dimensional space, without any symmetry, are tailored so as to solve the archetypal problem of illumination design: redistribute the radiation of a given small light source onto a given reference surface, thus achieving a desired irradiance distribution on that surface. The shape of the optical surface is found by solving a set of partial nonlinear differential equations. For most cases, a few topologically distinct solutions exist, given suitable boundary conditions.  相似文献

In the present study, we present the first steps of the development of a low power consumption GC microsystem for the analysis of benzene in the presence of butadiene, involved in petrochemical industrial applications. This system is made by coupling a low power consumption planar microhotplate based on a preconcentrator with good preconcentration capability and a spiral microchromatographic column that presents a separation capability of both compounds at room temperature, when tested in front of a gas sensor. The first characterization results of the device showed a successful injection of benzene and butadiene when placed in front of the micro-separation module.  相似文献

This paper presents INSYDER, a content-based visual-information-seeking system for the Web. The Web can be seen as one huge digital library offering a variety of very useful information for business analysts. INSYDER addresses these possibilities and offers powerful retrieval and visualisation functionalities. The main focus during the development was on the usability of the system. Therefore, a variety of well-established visualisation components were employed to support the user during the information-seeking process (e.g. visual query, result table, bar graph, segment view with tile bars, and scatterplot). Also, the retrieval aspects were developed with the goal of increasing the usability of the system (e.g. natural language search, content-based classification, relevance feedback). Extensive evaluations of the retrieval performance and the usability of the visualisation were conducted. The results of these evaluations offered many helpful insights into developing a new visual-information-seeking system called VisMeB.  相似文献

This paper presents a new perspective on the stability problem for uncertain LTI feedback systems with actuator input amplitude saturation. The solution is obtained using the quantitative feedback theory and a 3 DoF non‐interfering control structure. Describing function (DF) analysis is used as a criterion for closed loop stability and limit cycle avoidance, but the circle or Popov criteria could also be employed. The novelty is the combination of a controller parameterization from the literature and describing function‐based limit cycle avoidance with margins for uncertain plants. Two examples are given. The first is a benchmark problem and a comparison is made with other proposed solutions. The second is an example that was implemented and tested on an X‐Y linear stage used for nano‐positioning applications. Design and implementation considerations are given. An example is given on how the method can be extended to amplitude and rate saturation with the help of the generalized describing function, and a novel anti‐windup compensation structure inspired by previous contributions.
