Development of a small-scale power source not dependent on commercial power may result in various effects. For example, it may eliminate the need for long distance power-transmission lines, and mean that the amount of green energy development is not restricted to the dynamic characteristics of a commercial power grid. Moreover, the distribution of the independent energy source can be optimized with regionality in mind. This paper examines the independent power supply system relating to hydrogen energy. Generally speaking, the power demand of a house tends to fluctuate considerably over the course of a day. Therefore, when introducing fuel cell cogeneration into an apartment house, etc., low-efficiency operations in a low-load region occur frequently in accordance with load fluctuation. Consequently, the hybrid cogeneration system (HCGS) that uses a solid polymer membrane-type fuel cell (PEM-FC) and a hydrogen mixture gas engine (NEG) together to improve power generation efficiency during partial load of fuel cell cogeneration is proposed. However, since facility costs increase, if the HCGS energy cost is not low compared with the conventional method, it is disadvantageous. Therefore, in this paper, HCGS is introduced into 10 household apartments in Tokyo, and the power generation efficiency, carbon dioxide emissions and optimal capacity of a boiler and heat storage tank are investigated through analysis. Moreover, the system characteristics change significantly based on the capacity of PEM-FC and NEG that compose HCGS. Therefore, in this study, the capacity of PEM-FC and that of NEG are investigated, as well as the power generation efficiency, carbon dioxide emissions and the optimal capacity of a boiler and heat storage tank. Analysis revealed that the annual average power generation efficiency when the capacity of PEM-FC and NEG is 5 kW was 27.3%. Meanwhile, the annual average power generation efficiency of HCGS is 1.37 times that of the PEM-FC independent system, and 1.28 times that of the NEG independent system, respectively.  相似文献

We report the time-of-flight of quantized vortex rings generated by a vibrating wire in superfluid 4He which contains normal fluid component. A cover box of vibrating wires and slow cooling of superfluid reduce the number of vortices attached to wire surfaces, enabling us to study vortex rings propagating from a turbulent region. Using two vibrating wires as a generator and a detector of vortices, the time-of-flight of vortices propagating a distance of 0.88 mm was measured at 1.25 K. We find that the time-of-flights distribute from 0.06 s to 27.4 s, much larger than the lifetimes of circular vortex rings limited in the size of a generator amplitude. These results imply that large vortex rings with non-circular shape or vortex tangles are created by the generator, propagating slowly and colliding with the detector before complete disappearance.  相似文献

The hd-ald gene encoding aldehyde dehydrogenase (hd-ALDH) from an mixotrophic petroleum-degrading bacterium, strain HD-1 was cloned and sequenced. hd-ALDH (506 amino acids) is a member of the NAD+-dependent aldehyde dehydrogenase group. The hd-ald gene was expressed in Escherichia coli, and the recombinant enzyme was purified and characterized biochemically and enzymatically. The molecular weight of the enzyme was estimated to be 55,000 by SDS-PAGE, and 224,000 by gel filtration chromatography, suggesting that it acts as a tetramer. The CD spectrum suggests that the helical content of the enzyme is 10%. hd-ALDH was active on various aliphatic aldehyde substrates. The K(m) values of the enzyme were 6.4 microM for acetaldehyde, 4.2 microM for hexanal, 2.8 microM for octanal, and 0.84 microM for decanal, whereas the kcat values for these substrates were nearly equal (51-64 min(-1)). These results indicate that hd-ALDH acts preferentially on long-chain aliphatic aldehydes.  相似文献

RNase H is an enzyme that specifically cleaves RNA hybridized to DNA. The enzyme is ubiquitously present in various organisms. Single bacterial and eucaryotic cells often contain two RNases H, whereas single archaeal cells contain only one. To determine whether there is a physiological significance in the ubiquity and multiplicity of the enzyme, and whether all enzymes are evolutionarily diverged from a common ancestor, we carried out phylogenetic analyses of the RNase H sequences. In this report, we demonstrated that RNases H are classified into two major families, Type 1 and Type 2 RNases H, of which only the Type 2 enzymes are present in all living organisms, including bacteria, archaea, and eucaryotes, suggesting that they represent an ancestral form of RNases H. Based on this information, we discuss the evolutionary relationships and possible cellular functions of RNases H.  相似文献

We have studied phase transition of superfluid 3He at 2.4 MPa in cylindrical aerogel by NMR method. When the liquid is cooled down from the normal state, the A-like phase appears below superfluid transition temperature T c a which is suppressed in comparison with the transition temperature of the bulk liquid. With further cooling below the certain temperature T ab,c a , the A-like phase is converted into the B-like phase gradually. Both phases stably coexist within about 90 μK. When you keep the temperature constant in which both phases coexist, the A-B phase conversion stops. With furthermore cooling, the whole liquid becomes the B-like phase. The cwNMR spectra at the coexistence state suggest that the B-like phase is not uniformly distributed in the A-like phase like a large number of small bubbles in a liquid, but separated as a whole from the A-like phase. By applying a field gradient which changes as a function of square of radius, we found that the A-like phase is in the edge part with a cylindrical shape and the B-like phase is in the central part with a columnar shape.   相似文献

In this study, Listeria monocytogenes contamination in a cold-smoked fish processing plant in Osaka, Japan, was examined from 2002 to 2004. A total of 430 samples were collected and divided into five categories: raw fish, materials during processing, processing equipment, environment, and finished products. A total of 59 finished products were examined throughout this study. L. monocytogenes was isolated from four of these samples during summer and autumn but was not found during winter or spring. During the warmer seasons, L. monocytogenes was more prevalent on processing equipment, especially slicing machines (8 of 54 samples in summer and autumn versus 1 of 50 samples in winter and spring). L. monocytogenes was not detected on whole skins removed from 23 frozen raw fish. L. monocytogenes strains isolated from 56 samples were characterized by serotyping, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis, and three PCR-based methods. Seventy-seven L. monocytogenes strains were recognized as contaminants of the samples: 2 distinguishable strains were identified in each of 13 samples, 3 strains were identified in 2 samples, 5 strains were identified in 1 sample, and the other 40 strains were identified in 40 samples. Combining the results from these techniques, 77 strains were classified into 13 different types. Three of these types prevailed throughout the plant, and two of the three were also isolated from final products. The DNA subtype found in the product was also found on the slicing machines. Our findings suggest that the slicing machines at this plant were the source of the product contamination. Implementing an appropriate cleaning regime for the slicing machines was effective in preventing contamination.  相似文献

Because weaning is the point when the nutrient composition of feed changes for the neonatal ruminant, the present experiment was conducted to assess the developmental changes in the kinetics of glucose and urea over this period, using stable isotopes of glucose and urea, at 4, 13, and 24 wk in calves. Plasma concentrations of nonesterified fatty acids, amino-N, urea-N, and insulin-like growth factor-I increased, but that of growth hormone decreased with age. The plasma glucose concentration increased at 13 wk of age and thereafter decreased at 24 wk of age. The glucose irreversible loss and recycling rates were significantly higher at 4 wk of age than at 13 and 24 wk of age. On the other hand, the irreversible loss and recycling rates of urea, as well as the urea pool size, were higher at 24 wk of age than at 4 and 13 wk. It is concluded that weaning at 6 wk is the pivotal time for the alteration of glucose kinetics. However, the aging process, but not weaning, is important for changes in the kinetics of urea in calves.  相似文献

The liver directly accepts blood from the gut and is, therefore, exposed to intestinal bacteria. Recent studies have demonstrated a relationship between gut bacteria and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Approximately 10–20% of NAFLD patients develop nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and endotoxins produced by Gram-negative bacilli may be involved in NAFLD pathogenesis. NAFLD hyperendotoxicemia has intestinal and hepatic factors. The intestinal factors include impaired intestinal barrier function (leaky gut syndrome) and dysbiosis due to increased abundance of ethanol-producing bacteria, which can change endogenous alcohol concentrations. The hepatic factors include hyperleptinemia, which is associated with an excessive response to endotoxins, leading to intrahepatic inflammation and fibrosis. Clinically, the relationship between gut bacteria and NAFLD has been targeted in some randomized controlled trials of probiotics and other agents, but the results have been inconsistent. A recent randomized, placebo-controlled study explored the utility of lubiprostone, a treatment for constipation, in restoring intestinal barrier function and improving the outcomes of NAFLD patients, marking a new phase in the development of novel therapies targeting the intestinal barrier. This review summarizes recent data from studies in animal models and randomized clinical trials on the role of the gut–liver axis in NAFLD pathogenesis and progression.  相似文献

Listeria monocytogenes contamination of ready-to-eat seafood products commercially available in Osaka was examined between 1999 and 2000. L. monocytogenes was isolated from 12 (13%) of the 95 products tested. All positive samples were from cold-smoked fish with 9 being obtained during the summer. Thirteen isolates of L. monocytogenes were typed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based typing methods. Isolates of the same serotype originating from the same manufacturer gave similar DNA profiles, irrespective of the type of sample or date of isolation. The finding suggest that persistent strains in each manufacturing facility proliferate during the summer and contaminate products during manufacturing processes.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Sevoflurane is a useful anesthetic for inhalational induction in children because of its low solubility in blood and relatively nonpungent odor. Clonidine has sedative and anxiolytic properties and reduces the requirement for inhalation agents. Nitrous oxide (N2O) also decreases the requirement of inhaled anesthetics, but the effect is variable. The minimum alveolar concentration for tracheal intubation (MAC(TI)) of sevoflurane was assessed with and without N2O and clonidine premedication. METHODS: Seventy-two patients, aged 3-11 yr, were assigned to one of six groups (n = 12 each). They received one of three preanesthetic medications (two groups for each premedication): placebo (control), 2 microg/kg oral clonidine or 4 microg/kg oral clonidine. In one group of each premedication, anesthesia was induced with sevoflurane in oxygen; in the other group, anesthesia was induced with sevoflurane in the presence of 60% N2O. Each concentration of sevoflurane at which tracheal intubation was attempted was predetermined according to Dixon's up-and-down method and held constant for at least 20 min before the trial RESULTS: The MAC(TI) of sevoflurane in the absence of N2O (mean +/- SEM) was 3.2 +/- 0.2%, 2.5 +/- 0.1%, and 1.9 +/- 0.2% in the control, 2-microg/kg clonidine, and 4-microg/kg clonidine groups, respectively. Nitrous oxide (60%) decreased the MAC(TI) of sevoflurane by 26%, 24%, and 27% in the control, 2-microg/kg clonidine, and 4-microg/kg clonidine groups. CONCLUSIONS: Oral clonidine premedication decreased the MAC(TI) of sevoflurane. Nitrous oxide also decreased the MAC(TI). The combination of clonidine and N2O lessened the MAC(TI) of sevoflurane more than did either drug alone.  相似文献
