Effects of Fining Agents on Antioxidant Capacity of Red Wines   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The antioxidant capacity of wine depends not only on the grape variety but also on the wine processing steps. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of different fining agents, used at different concentrations, on the antioxidant status of fined wines. The results demonstrated that the use of a combination of gelatin and Kieselsol led to the highest total phenol value (3,491 mg/L GAE) and antioxidant activities (29%) among the tested fining agents. Wines were mostly negatively affected by the use of egg white as an agent and led to the lowest value of total phenol (3,038 mg/L GAE) and the lowest rate of antioxidant activity (26%). Significant differences (p<0.05) were determined between gelatin, egg white, and the control groups. The results of the grouping of analyzed parameters in n‐dimensional space, with different fining agents at different concentrations, demonstrated the importance of a low concentration of fining agents for high antioxidant activity and total phenols.  相似文献

Social media has emerged as a significant and effective means of assisting and endorsing activities and communications among peers, consumers and organizations that outdo the restrictions of time and space. While the previous studies acknowledge the role of agents of culture change, it largely remains silent on the role of social media in influencing acculturation outcomes and consumption choices. This study uses self-administered questionnaire to collect data from 514 Turkish-Dutch respondents and examines how their use of social media affects their acculturation and consumption choices. This research makes a significant contribution to consumer acculturation research by showing that social media is a vital means of culture change and a driver of acculturation strategies and consumption choices. This study is the first to investigate the role of social media as an agent of culture change in terms of how it impacts acculturation and consumption. This study presents a method to develop an efficient and economical system for cleaning home laundry on a commercial scale with both water and chemical (detergent) reuse. The experiments were done using an industrial-type horizontal-axis machine, two leading consumer heavy-duty liquid laundry detergents, one I&I detergent formulation, and chlorine bleach. The technical feasibility of reusing laundry water at high levels without significant deterioration in detergency was established in this study. Warm water (40 °C) was used in the wash cycle, and cold water (29 °C) was used for three rinse cycles. In the integrated process, waters from wash and rinse steps were treated using tubular microfiltration units with 0.1 μm pore size to remove particles and emulsion droplets. These recovered waters were recycled to be reused. In addition, water recycled from the wash step contains surfactants that can be reused. In order to simulate a large-scale industrial laundry operation at steady-state, the batch process used here was operated six times in sequence; wash and rinse waters were filtered after each cycle and reused in the next wash cycle. The surfactant recovery is over 40%. Soiled test strips were used to measure the percentage of soil removal after the wash/filtration sequence for stains and various liquid or particulate soils. The soil removal remained practically constant under simulated steady-state conditions even with water recoveries of nearly 90%. Softness of towels remained unchanged when recycled water was used in this process. Chlorine carry-over from white laundry to the wash process was shown to be minimal. This is important to avoid color fading in mixed loads upon reuse since water is not segregated for colored laundry versus white laundry. Hardness ions can precipitate fatty acids which reduce flux during filtration and decrease surfactant recovery. Preliminary analysis of the different formulations used indicates that an all-nonionic formulation may be best suited to this recycling process.

In this study, high refractive index polymer (HRIP) [poly(pentabromobenzyl methacrylate-co-glycidyl methacrylate)] was investigated to obtain its optical and electrical performance for optoelectronic applications. UV characteristics of the polymer in solution of tetrahydrofuran were obtained and optical band gap energy of the polymer was calculated as 3.8 eV. I–V characteristics of the polymer were investigated after HRIP thin film was prepared using spin coating technique. The electrical parameters such as barrier height ΦBo, ideality factor n and reverse saturation current Io were extracted from the forward biasing I–V characteristics. At the same time, series resistance Rs and ΦBo were determined by using a modified Norde function combined with conventional forward I–V method.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Effect of pH on recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) production by Pichia pastoris hGH‐Mut+ was investigated at pH = 4.2, 5.0, 5.5, and 6.0. RESULTS: The highest cell concentration was obtained at pH = 6.0 with 53 g L?1, while the highest rhGH concentration was attained at pH = 5.0 as 0.27 g L?1. Total protease secretion increased with increase in pH and with the cultivation time. Oxygen uptake rate increased with increasing pH up to pH = 6.0, having the maximum value, 37 mmol m?3 s?1, at pH = 5.5. KLa values were similar at all the conditions, having a maximum value of 0.14 s?1 at pH = 5.0. Taking the final rhGH concentration into account, the most favourable pH was 5.0; where AOX1 expression level showed a similar trend to AOX activity profiles, having the highest value of 9.4 × 1010 copy mg?1 CDW at t = 15 h; in parallel to AOX1 expression profile, hGH expression level increased until t = 15 h, with the highest value of 4.0 × 1010 copy mg?1 CDW, where a sharp increase in rhGH concentration was obtained. The expression levels of pep4, prb1 and prc1 genes, responsible from the production of proteinase A, proteinase B and, carboxypeptidase Y, were parallel to each other. CONCLUSION: Since it was shown that pH is a crucial operating parameter in fermentation processes using P. pastoris, keeping pH constant at its determined optimum value, pH = 5.0, during the bioprocess is vital in terms of recombinant protein production. The ternary copolymerization of maleic anhydride (MA), vinyl acetate (VA), and acrylic acid (AA) [P(MA‐co‐VA‐co‐AA)], which is considered to be an acceptor–donor–acceptor system, was carried out in 1,4‐dioxane with benzoyl peroxide as an initiator at 70°C under a nitrogen atmosphere. Constants of complex formation for the monomer systems in the study were determined by UV–visible (hydrogen‐bonding complex) and 1H‐NMR (charge transfer complex) methods, respectively. The results show that polymerization of the P(MA‐co‐VA‐co‐AA) system proceeds by an alternating terpolymerization mechanism. It is shown that the synthesized copolymers have typical polyelectrolyte behavior, ability for reversible hydrolysis–anhydrization reactions, and semicrystalline structures. In these cases, including radical polymerization, and formation of semicrystalline structures, the hydrogen‐bonding effect plays a significant role. The in vitro cytotoxicities of the synthesized terpolymer and alternating copolymer were evaluated using Raji cells (human Burkitt lymphoma cell line). The antitumor activities of prepared anion‐active copolymers were studied using methyl–thiazol–tetrazolium colorimetric assay and 50% of the cytotoxic dose of each copolymer and terpolymer were calculated. Hydrolyzed P(MA‐co‐VA‐co‐AA) and P(MA‐alt‐AA) copolymers have sufficiently high antitumor activity, which depends on the amount of hydrogen‐bonding carboxylic groups and their regular distribution in the side chain of functional macromolecules. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The crystallization of highly isotactic polypropylene confined in self-ordered nanoporous alumina is studied by differential scanning calorimetry. A transformation from a predominantly heterogeneous to predominantly homogeneous nucleation takes place if the pore diameter is smaller than 65 nm. Crystallization is suppressed with decreasing pore size, and the absence of nucleation below 20 nm pores indicates the critical nucleus size. The results reported here might enhance the understanding of nanocomposites containing semicrystalline polymers and reveal design criteria for polymeric nanofibers with tailored mechanical and optical properties.  相似文献

This contribution summarizes efforts in designing, assembling/synthesizing, and structurally and functionally characterizing nanostructured materials using anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) as a thin-film template. Optical waveguide spectroscopy, using a nanoporous template as the guiding structure, is a particularly powerful analytical tool. The layer-by-layer approach for the fabrication of multilayer assemblies is shown to allow the fabrication of nanotube arrays. In addition to using dendrimers as building blocks, semiconducting nanomaterial (e.g., quantum dot) hybrid architectures with very interesting photophysical properties can be assembled. These can be employed, for example, in biosensing applications. Other strategies for using the AAO layers as templates include the growth of polymeric nanorod arrays from different functional monomers, which, after the dissolution of the template, are still able to guide light. This opens up novel concepts for integrated optics platforms with nanostructured materials.  相似文献

The highest values of antioxidant activity (AOA), inhibition of low‐density lipoproteins (LDL‐diene, LDL‐MDA) and total phenols were determined in pomace (82.30 and 82.60%), grapes (68.91%) and must [2750 mg L?1 gallic acid equivalents (GAE)], respectively. For all parameters (AOA, iLDL‐diene, iLDL‐MDA, total phenols) the highest values were obtained in Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grape varieties. Positive correlations were determined between AOA and iLDL‐diene (r = 0.809); AOA and total phenols (r = 0.528); total phenols and iLDL‐diene (r = 0.451) with significance of P < 0.005. The results of principal component analysis demonstrated that the location of iLDL‐diene and AOA is the same for pomace, must and red wines. The total phenols are found in the same place in red wines, red grapes, pomace and must. The results emphasize the importance of must, pomace and red wine for inhibiting LDL‐oxidation.  相似文献
