The proliferation of glioma cells requires cholesterol, which could be provided by synthesis within the cells or by uptake of cholesterol esters in particles of Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL). Cholesterol esters and cholesterol were therefore analysed in human glioma tissue, its surrounding areas and serum from 40 patients. The analyses revealed an increased concentration of cholesterol esters up to 100 times (0.1-10 mumol/g) in both tumour-tissue and surrounding areas compared with control material (< 0.1 mumol/g). The analyses also demonstrated that cholesterol esters in tumour tissue eminated mainly from serum. The cholesterol concentrations were significantly lower in tumour tissue compared with surrounding areas as expected. These results indicate that tumour cell proliferation utilises serum derived cholesterol esters presumably carried by LDL particles. 相似文献

The hmc operon of Desulfovibrio vulgaris subsp. vulgaris Hildenborough consists of six genes (hmcA to hmcF) that encode structural components of the high-molecular-mass cytochrome redox protein complex (the Hmc complex). Two genes (rrf1 and rrf2) encoding regulatory proteins are present downstream of hmcF. Expression of the hmc operon, monitored by incubating protein blots with HmcA-specific or HmcF-specific antibodies, was found to be highest when hydrogen was the sole electron donor for sulfate reduction. Use of lactate or pyruvate as electron donor reduced expression of the hmc operon. A mutant with a deletion of the rrf1 and rrf2 genes was generated with the sacB mutagenesis method. This mutant overexpressed the hmc operon approximately threefold. It grew more rapidly than the wild type when hydrogen was used as the electron donor for sulfate reduction, but more slowly than the wild type when lactate was used. The results indicate that a physiological function of the Hmc complex is in electron flow from hydrogen to sulfate. At least one redox carrier is shared competitively by the hydrogen and lactate oxidation pathways in D. vulgaris. 相似文献

Pharmacokinetics was studied of kefsole administered by intravenous and endolymphatic routes to patients (n = 23) with acute pancreatitis. The studies made showed that intravenous route for the drug administration makes for a quicker entering of the antibiotic into the peritoneal exudate. Apart from these reasons, endolymphatic antibacterial therapy does not appear to avert the development of complications involving pus-formation/discharging in acute pancreatitis and does not seem to be essential in the complex of therapeutic measures to be applied for treating the above patients. 相似文献

Ultra-wideband (UWB) is a booming technology in the field of wireless communication. This paper presents a brief idea related to the various coherent and non-coherent IR-UWB detectors. Due to the limitation in transmit power spectral density of UWB system, the major challenges faced by UWB system includes, achieving Quality of Service, system performance and coverage area. So, the combination of UWB system with cooperative communication will not only improve the system performance, but also help in expanding coverage area of signals. A brief review of the work done by various researchers in the field of cooperative impulse radio (IR) UWB communication is also presented in this paper. The working principle and performance analysis of the various coherent and non-coherent IR-UWB detectors using cooperative relay strategies are also discussed at large in this paper. The various fixed cooperative relay strategies used for cooperative UWB communication is Amplify and Forward, Decode and Forward and Detect and Forward. From the simulation results it can be inferred that, even though IR-UWB DTR receiver gives a much better BER performance than IR-UWB ED receiver using both cooperative and non-cooperative strategies, yet ED receiver is preferred because of its less complexity and low power consumption. Chemical vapour deposition (CVD) is emerging as a popular method for growing large-area graphene on metal substrates. For transferring graphene to other substrates the technique generally used involves deposition of a polymer support with subsequent etching of the metal substrate. Here we report a simpler one-step transfer process. Few-layer graphene (FLG) grown on a Cu substrate were transferred to a silanized wafer by just pressing them together. Hydrogen bonding between the hydroxyl group on FLG and the amine group on silane molecules facilitate the transfer. 相似文献

Undoped nanocrystalline p-type TiO2 thin film was deposited by sol–gel method on a thermally oxidized p-Si (2–5 Ω cm resistivity and $ \left\langle {100} \right\rangle $ orientation) substrate. The thin film was characterized by two-dimensional X-ray Diffraction (2D-XRD) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) to confirm the formation of stable nano crystalline anatase titania and to determine the grain size (~10 nm). Optical absorption spectroscopy was carried out to ascertain the band gap of the material. Two lateral Pd contacts were used as the metal electrodes to TiO2 thin film to study the electrical conductivity. A clear p- to n-type transition was observed at 240 °C and a bias voltage of 0.83 V and the effect was enhanced on exposure to H2 gas. The thin film showed fully n-type conductivity at 275 °C and 0.1 V. However, the reversal of the type of conductivity from n- to p-type was observed below 240 °C during lowering the temperature. The creation of oxygen vacancy and the diffusion of lattice oxygen to the surface of TiO2 thin film might be the most possible mechanism of such transitions.
