The polyphosphoinositides fromTrypanosoma cruzi were isolated by preparative thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and identified. When myo-[3H]inositol was present in the culture medium for five days, analyses showed the presence of phosphatidylinositol (PI), lysophosphatidylinositol
(lysoPI), phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PIP) and phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2). Short-term incubation with32Pi led to higher percentages of incorporation into phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), lysophosphatidylethanolamine (lysoPE) and

The sustainability of agroforestry systems in Amazonia was assessed from their litter dynamics and decomposition. Litter fall and litter stocks were determined from July 1997 to March 1999 in four sites in central Amazonia: a primary rainforest, a 13-year-old secondary forest, and two sites of a polyculture forestry system which consisted of four planted tree species of commercial use amidst upcoming secondary growth. The average annual litter fall in the undisturbed primary rainforest (FLO) was 8.4 t ha–1 year–1, which is within the range of litter fall in other rainforests in the region. It was similar in one of the two polyculture sites (8.3 t ha–1 year–1), but lower in the secondary forest and in the second polyculture site. In the litter fall in secondary forest and agroforestry sites, the leaf portion was higher (76–82% of total litter fall) than in FLO, due to reduced fine matter and wood fall. Leaf litter fall variability was much lower in the plantation sites than in the forests, which is explained by the much more homogeneous stand structure of the plantations. The quality of the produced litter, measured as C/N ratio, differed significantly between the primary forest site and one polyculture and the secondary forest site. The cumulative input of nitrogen through litter fall was 144 kg ha–1 year–1 in FLO, and 91–112 kg ha–1 year–1 in the polycultures and the secondary forest. Litter fall was not correlated with soil parameters, but had a significant linear regression with canopy closure. For the primary rainforest, litter fall was also (inversely) correlated with monthly rainfall. Litter fall was higher in the first year (1997–1998; an El Niño period) than in 1998–1999. Litter stocks on the forest floor were highest in the secondary forest (24.7 t ha–1), and much lower in the polyculture sites (15.1–16.2 t ha–1) and the primary forest (12.0 t ha–1). There were no differences in the relative N content (C/N ratio) of the litter stocks between the sites, but the larger stocks led to higher absolute N contents in the litter layer in the secondary forest. From the monthly values of litter stocks (S) and litter fall (P), the decomposition coefficient k
e=P/S was calculated, which was, on average, highest for the primary forest (0.059), followed by the polyculture systems (0.040–0.042), and by the secondary forest (0.024). Thus, due to low decomposition rates, the secondary forest site showed large litter accumulations in spite of a relatively low litter fall. In contrast, the primary forest showed high litter fall but low stocks, due to high decomposition rates. The decomposition coefficients of the polyculture systems ranged between the primary and the secondary forest. The reduced decomposition rates in the man-managed agroecosystems indicate quantitative and/or qualitative changes in the decomposer communities of these systems that lead to a higher build-up of litter stocks on the forest floor. However, the decomposer systems in the polyculture sites still were more functional than in the site of non-managed secondary growth. Thus, from a soil biological viewpoint, ecologically sustainable low-input agroforestry in Amazonia will benefit from the application of these polyculture systems. 相似文献

The effect of hygrothermal aging on a particle‐filled, epoxy‐based adhesive was studied using a gravimetric sorption technique. This study has explored moisture sorption characteristics as well as the associated behaviors of swelling and the depression of the glass transition temperature (Tg). We observed that the diffusion of water in this adhesive has a non‐Fickian behavior, and the depression of Tg proceeds to a definite value that is independent of the final equilibrium water content of the system. Our observations suggest that water diffuses into the polymer in a dual‐sorption mode, in which water resides in two populations. In one population, water is considered to occupy apparent free volume of the adhesive, and the second population water infiltrates polymer structure and forms hydrogen‐bonded clusters. Our results show that hygrothermal aging temperature and swelling do not alter the apparent free volume of this adhesive. We conclude that the constant value of Tg depression at saturation implies that only water in the apparent free volume is responsible for the Tg depression, whereas the swelling proceeds through the formation of hydrogen bonds in the adhesive. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Three dinuclear coordination complexes generated from 1-n-butyl-2-((5-methyl-1H-pyrazole-3-yl)methyl)-1H-benzimidazole ( L ), have been synthesized and characterized spectroscopically and structurally by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Reaction with iron(II) chloride and then copper(II) nitrate led to a co-crystal containing 78 % of [Cu(NO3)(μ-Cl)( L’ )]2 ( C1 ) and 22 % of [Cu(NO3)(μ-NO3)( L’ )]2 ( C2 ), where L was oxidized to a new ligand L’ . A mechanism is provided. Reaction with copper chloride led to the dinuclear complex [Cu(Cl)(μ-Cl)( L) ]2 ( C3 ). The presence of N−H⋅⋅⋅O and C−H⋅⋅⋅O intermolecular interactions in the crystal structure of C1 and C2 , and C−H⋅⋅⋅N and C−H⋅⋅⋅Cl hydrogen bonding in the crystal structure of C3 led to supramolecular structures that were confirmed by Hirshfeld surface analysis. The ligands and their complexes were tested for free radical scavenging activity and ferric reducing antioxidant power. The complex C1 / C2 shows remarkable antioxidant activities as compared to the ligand L and reference compounds. 相似文献

A model‐based experimental design is formulated and solved as a large‐scale NLP problem. The key idea of the proposed approach is the extension of model equations with sensitivity equations forming an extended sensitivities‐state equation system. The resulting system is then totally discretized and simultaneously solved as constraints of the NLP problem. Thereby, higher derivatives of the parameter sensitivities with respect to the control variables are directly calculated and exact. This is an advantage in comparison with proposed sequential approaches to model‐based experimental design so far, where these derivatives have to be additionally integrated throughout the optimization steps. This can end up in a high‐computational load especially for systems with many control variables. The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of oil concentration and homogenization pressure on the emulsion and particle properties during the microencapsulation of basil essential oil by spray drying, using gum arabic as the wall material. Experiments were planned according a 22 rotational central composite design. The independent variables were oil concentration with respect to total solids (10–25%) and homogenization pressure (0–100 MPa). Emulsions were analyzed for droplet mean diameter, stability, and viscosity, and particles were analyzed for oil retention, moisture content, particle size, and morphology. Emulsion viscosity was not affected by any of the independent variables. The increase in the homogenization pressure from 0 to 100 MPa resulted in smaller emulsion droplet size (down to 0.40 µm) and, consequently, higher oil retention (up to 95%). On the other hand, higher oil loads (25%) resulted in poorer oil retention (51.22%). Microencapsulation of basil essential oil using gum arabic as the wall material proved to be a suitable process to obtain powdered basil essential oil, presenting great oil retention with the use of lower oil concentration and higher homogenization pressure. 相似文献

ABSTRACT Moisture sorption isotherms of okara soy milk were determined using the gravimetric method in the range 20 - 50 °C. The sorption isotherms exhibited hysteresis along all the water activity range (0·1 - 0·9). The amount of sorbed water increased as the temperature was decreased. The GAB and Halsey models gave a good fit for okara isotherms over the range of water activity 0·1 - 0·9. As temperature increased, GAB k-values increased towards unity where the GAB equation reduces to the BET equation. The influence of temperature on the constants of GAB and Halsey models was evaluated through Arrhenius-type equations. The Clausius Clapeyron equation was used to estimate the isosteric heats of sorption. 相似文献
