Human serum contains a complex array of proteolytically derived peptides (serum peptidome) that may provide a correlate of biological events occurring in the entire organism; for instance, as a diagnostic for solid tumors (Petricoin, E. F.; Ardekani, A. M.; Hitt, B. A.; Levine, P. J.; Fusaro, V. A.; Steinberg, S. M.; Mills, G. B.; Simone, C.; Fishman, D. A.; Kohn, E. C.; Liotta, L. Lancet 2002, 359, 572-577). Here, we describe a novel, automated technology platform for the simultaneous measurement of serum peptides that is simple, scalable, and generates highly reproducible patterns. Peptides are captured and concentrated using reversed-phase (RP) batch processing in a magnetic particle-based format, automated on a liquid handling robot, and followed by a MALDI TOF mass spectrometric readout. The protocol is based on a detailed investigation of serum handling, RP ligand and eluant selection, small-volume robotics design, an optimized spectral acquisition program, and consistent peak extraction plus binning across a study set. The improved sensitivity and resolution allowed detection of 400 polypeptides (0.8-15-kDa range) in a single droplet (approximately 50 microL) of serum, and almost 2000 unique peptides in larger sample sets, which can then be analyzed using common microarray data analysis software. A pilot study indicated that sera from brain tumor patients can be distinguished from controls based on a pattern of 274 peptide masses. This, in turn, served to create a learning algorithm that correctly predicted 96.4% of the samples as either normal or diseased.  相似文献

A broad band VCO has been developed at Ka-band for FMCW Radar applications. To achieve a wide range of frequency variation, VCO has been designed in series configuration. Design steps have been presented. VCO exhibits a tuning range of 600 MHz with the power output of 50 mw, when the controlled varactor voltage varies from 7.5 volts to 15 volts. Frequency drift with temperature has been contained within 30 MHz using a proportionally controlled DC heater module over the temperature range of 0°C to +55°C. Phase Noise of the oscillator measured at the mid and extreme frequencies is about -70 dBc/kHz at 10 kHz away from the carrier. The experimental circuit and measured performance is also presented.  相似文献

The pseudospark (PS) discharge has been shown to be a promising source of high brightness, high intensity electron beam pulses. The PS discharge sourced electron beam has potential applications in plasma filled microwave sources where normal material cathode cannot be used. Analysis of the electron beam profile has been done experimentally for different applied voltages. The investigation has been carried out at different axial and radial location inside the drift space in argon atmosphere. This paper represents experimentally found axial and radial variation of the beam current inside the drift tube of PS discharge based plasma cathode electron (PCE) gun. With the help of current density estimation the focusing and defocusing point of electron beam in axial direction can be analyzed.  相似文献

System integration and miniaturization demands are driving component technologies towards integrated thin films with higher volumetric efficiencies and component densities. Among the various system components, achieving higher densities with capacitors, integrated in thin film form has been a major challenge for the past few decades. This paper reports the first proof-of-concept demonstration of a novel silicon-compatible high-density capacitor technology. The key novelty stems from the tremendous enhancement in surface area from thin and porous copper nanoelectrodes and conformal alumina dielectric on such nanoelectrodes. Atomic Layer Deposition was chosen as the dielectric process because of its self-limiting, defect-free and conformal deposition on 3-D structures. Alumina with its moderate permittivity and superior dielectric properties over large voltage ranges was employed as the representative dielectric. Thin copper particulate electrodes with conformal counter electrodes showed 10 times higher capacitance density compared to the planar devices, with similar leakage properties. Thicker electrodes showed enormous enhancement in surface area but inferior leakage properties. Combination of compositional and morphological techniques was used to show alumina conformality on complex 3-D structures of copper particulate electrode. Capacitance–Voltage and Current–Voltage characterizations were carried out to confirm the feasibility of the novel high density 3-D capacitor structure.  相似文献

This paper aims at understanding the interaction of intrinsic conducting polymer, PEDT, with ALD-deposited Al2O3 and thermally oxidized Ta2O5 dielectrics, and the underlying mechanisms for increase in leakage currents in PEDT-based capacitors. Conducting polymers offer several advantages as electrodes for high surface area capacitors because of their lower resistance, self-healing and enhanced conformality. However, capacitors with in situ polymerized PEDT show poor electrical properties that are attributed to the interfacial interaction between the organic electrode and the oxide dielectric. This study focuses on characterizing these interactions. A combination of compositional, structural and electrical characterization techniques was applied to polymer-solid-state-capacitor to understand the interfacial chemical behavior and dielectric property deterioration of alumina and tantalum-oxide films. XPS and impedance studies were employed to understand the stiochiometric and compositional changes that occur in the dielectric film on interaction with in situ deposited PEDT. Based on the observations from several complimentary techniques, it is concluded that tantalum-pentoxide has more resistance towards chemical interaction with in situ polymerized PEDT. The thermally oxidized Ta2O5-PEDT system showed leakage current of 280 nA μF−1 at 3 V with a breakdown voltage of 30 V. On the other hand, Al2O3-PEDT capacitor showed leakage current of 50 μA μF−1 and a breakdown voltage of 40 V. The study reports direct evidence for the mechanism of resistivity drop in alumina dielectric with in situ polymerized PEDT electrode.  相似文献

Fully flexible metal-insulator-metal (MIM) capacitors fabricated on 25 microm thin polyimide (PI) substrates via the surface sol-gel process using 10-nm-thick zirconium-silicate (ZrSixOy) and hafnium-silicate (HfSimOn) films as gate dielectrics. The surface morphology of the ZrSixOy and HfSimOn films were investigated using atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy, which confirmed that continuous and crack-free surface growth had occurred on the PI. Both the films treated with oxygen (O2) plasma and annealing (ca. 250 degrees C) consisted of amorphous phase; confirmed by X-ray diffraction. We employed X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) at high resolution to examine the chemical composition of the films subjected to various treatment conditions. The shift of the XPS peaks towards higher binding energy revealed the O2 plasma-pretreatment followed by annealing was the most effective process to the surface oxidation at relatively low-temperature, for further passivate the grease traps and making dielectric films thermally stable. The ZrSixOy and HfSimOn films in sandwich-like MIM configuration on the PI substrates exhibited the low leakage current densities of 7.1 x 10(-9) and 8.4 x 10(-9) A/cm2 at applied electric field of 10 MV/cm and maximum capacitance densities of 7.5 and 5.3 fF/microm2 at 1 MHz, respectively. In addition, the ZrSixOy and HfSimOn films in MIM capacitors showed the estimated dielectric constants of 8.2 and 6.0, respectively. Prior to use of flexible MIM capacitors in advanced flexible electronic devices; the reliability test was studied by applying day-dependent leakage current density measurements up to 30 days. These films of silicate-surfactant mesostructured materials have special interest to be used as gate dielectrics in future for flexible metal-oxide-semiconductor devices.  相似文献

Cobalt–polymer magnetic nanocomposites have been synthesized and characterized for their microstructure and properties such as permeability, permittivity, dielectric and magnetic losses from 100 MHz to 2 GHz to study their suitability as antenna dielectrics. Oxide-passivated cobalt nanoparticles were dispersed in epoxies to form nanocomposite toroids and thin-film resonator structures on organic substrates. Permeabilities of 2.10 and 2.65 were measured up to 500 MHz, respectively, with 25-nm to 50-nm and 5-nm nanoparticles in the nanocomposites. The loss tangent ranged from 0.02 to 0.04 at these frequencies. A combination of stable permeability of ~2 at 1 GHz to 2 GHz and permittivity of ~7 was achieved with nanocomposites having 5-nm nanoparticles. The magnetic nanomaterials described in this paper can overcome the limitations from domain-wall and eddy-current losses in microscale metal–polymer composites, leading to enhanced frequency stability. The paper also demonstrates integration of metal–polymer nanocomposites as thin-film build-up layers with two-metal-layer structures on organic substrates.  相似文献

We report an easy and versatile one-step synthesis route for a newly discovered Fe based LaFeAsO1−δ compound with 0.0≤δ≤0.15. Instead of widely used high-pressure-high-temperature (HPHT) synthesis, we applied the normal atmosphere solid-state reaction route. The stoichiometric mixtures of Fe, La2O3, La, and As in ratio LaFeAsO1−δ with 0.0≤δ≤0.15 are sealed in an evacuated quartz tube and further heated at 500, 850, and 1,100 °C in Ar for 12, 12, and 33 hours, respectively, in a single step. The resulting compounds are single phase LaFeAsO crystallized in tetragonal P4/nmm structure. These samples showed the ground state spin density wave (SDW) like metallic behavior below around 150 K. In conclusion, the ground state (non-superconducting) of newly discovered Fe based superconductor is synthesized via an easy one-step solid-state reaction route.  相似文献
