A computer program system was developed to predict carbohydrate-bindingsites on three-dimensional (3D) protein structures. The programssearch for binding sites by referring to the empirical rulesderived from the known 3D structures of carbohydrateproteincomplexes. A total of 80 non-redundant carbohydrateproteincomplex structures were selected from the Protein Data Bankfor the empirical rule construction. The performance of theprediction system was tested on 50 known complex structuresto determine whether the system could detect the known bindingsites. The known monosaccharide-binding sites were detectedamong the best three predictions in 59% of the cases, whichcovered 69% of the polysaccharide-binding sites in the targetproteins, when the performance was evaluated by the overlapbetween residue patches of predicted and known binding sites. Accumulating data indicates that certain microRNAs (miRNAs or miRs) are differently expressed in samples of tumors and paired non-tumorous samples taken from the same patients with colorectal tumors. We examined the expression of onco-related miRNAs in 131 sporadic exophytic adenomas or early cancers and in 52 sporadic flat elevated adenomas or early cancers to clarify the relationship between the expression of the miRNAs and the endoscopic morphological appearance of the colorectal tumors. The expression levels of miR-143, -145, and -34a were significantly reduced in most of the exophytic tumors compared with those in the flat elevated ones. In type 2 cancers, the miRNA expression profile was very similar to that of the exophytic tumors. The expression levels of miR-7 and -21 were significantly up-regulated in some flat elevated adenomas compared with those in exophytic adenomas. In contrast, in most of the miR-143 and -145 down-regulated cases of the adenoma-carcinoma sequence and in some of the de novo types of carcinoma, the up-regulation of oncogenic miR-7 and/or -21 contributed to the triggering mechanism leading to the carcinogenetic process. These findings indicated that the expression of onco-related miRNA was associated with the morphological appearance of colorectal tumors. 相似文献

Macroporous monoliths, composed of thermoresponsive, tertiary‐aminated, and crosslinking monomers, were prepared for continuous‐flow separation of palladium(II) ions. N ‐Isopropylacrylamide was required to form the porous structure in the monoliths, indicating that the mechanism of porous structure formation involved polymerization‐induced phase separation of the poly(N ‐isopropylacrylamide) gel. Tertiary‐aminated monoliths showed adsorption selectivity for palladium(II) ions in hydrochloric media, compared with copper(II) ions. The maximum capacities of the monoliths with tertiary amine contents of 10, 20, 30, and 70 mol % for palladium(II) ions were 0.6, 1.1, 1.3, and 2.3 mmol/g, respectively. Darcy's permeabilities of water through the macroporous monolith were 10?14 to 10?13 m2, and those were comparable to that through a commercially available membrane filter with a pore size of several micrometers. In the continuous‐flow process, the macroporous monolith with tertiary amine selectively adsorbed palladium(II) ions in the coexistence of copper(II) ions with 10 times higher concentration than the palladium(II) ions. The palladium(II) ions were eluted from the macroporous monolith, and the concentration of palladium(II) ions in the eluate was up to 45 times of that in the feed solution. Extraction of Rh(III) from a HCl solution with N,N-disubstituted amide–containing tertiary amine (ACTA) compounds (N,N-di-n-hexyl(N-methyl-N-n-octyl-ethylamide)amine (MonoAA), N-n-hexyl-bis(N-methyl-N-n-octyl-ethylamide)amine (BisAA), and tris(N-methyl-N-n-octyl-ethylamide)amine (TrisAA)) was investigated. The ACTAs extract Rh(III) more efficiently than tri-n-octylamine (TOA), and the extraction efficiency increases with increasing number of amide groups: TrisAA > BisAA > MonoAA ? TOA. For all ACTAs, the predominant Rh(III) complex extracted from 2 M HCl is probably {[RhCl5(H2O)]·(ACTA·H)2}. The apparent basicity of the ACTAs and TOA varies in the opposite order from that observed for the Rh(III) extraction efficiency. Ba β-alumina films were prepared by laser chemical vapor deposition. Mostly single-phase Ba β-alumina films were obtained at 1125–1200 K and for an Al/Ba molar ratio of 12.4–16.6. BaAl2O4 and α-Al2O3 were codeposited with Ba β-alumina under Ba- and Al-rich conditions, respectively. The Ba β-alumina films consisted of hexagonal grains, and the (1 1 0)-oriented Ba β-alumina films had a fin-like columnar structure. The highest deposition rate reached 120 μm h?1 at around 1200 K. A thin layer of Ba-rich superstructure was formed on the surface of the (1 1 0)-oriented columnar grains. 相似文献

Structure–property relationship in BaTiO3 (BT)-based dielectrics for multi-layer ceramic capacitors with nickel internal electrode was investigated using samples having various HoO3/2 concentrations by measuring temperature characteristics of capacitance, voltage–current characteristics, lifetime at highly accelerated life test, high-resolution analytical electron microscope, and frequency response at elevated temperature and ultra-low frequency. It was concluded that the addition of Ho affected the shell and grain boundary (GB) characteristics. Fabrications of micro-dot electrodes of LiCoO2 and Li4Ti5O12 on Au substrates were demonstrated using a sol-gel process combined with a micro-injection technology. A typical size of prepared dots was about 100 μm in diameter, and the dot population on the substrate was 2400 dots cm−2. The prepared LiCoO2 and Li4Ti5O12 micro-dot electrodes were characterized with scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, micro-Raman spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry. The prepared LiCoO2 and Li4Ti5O12 micro-dot electrodes were evaluated in an organic electrolyte as cathode and anode for lithium micro-battery, respectively. The LiCoO2 micro-dot electrode exhibited reversible electrochemical behavior in a potential range from 3.8 to 4.2 V versus Li/Li+, and the Li4Ti5O12 micro-dot electrode showed sharp redox peaks at 1.5 V. 相似文献

A novel photoreactive polymer with histidine polar groups was synthesized through the copolymerization of two types of methacrylic acid, one carrying histidine groups and the other carrying azidoaniline groups. The polymer was photoimmobilized on polyester disks for surface modification. The effect of the surface modification on the hydrophilic and biofouling properties was investigated. Static contact angle measurements showed that the polymeric surface was modified to be comparatively hydrophilic in the polymer‐immobilized region. Micropattern immobilization was carried out with a photolithographic method. Atomic force microscopy measurements showed that the polymer was formed on the disks in response to ultraviolet irradiation. Protein adsorption was reduced on the polymer‐immobilized regions, and in those regions, spreading and adhesion of mammalian cells were reduced in comparison with that in nonimmobilized regions. In conclusion, a novel histidine‐containing polymer was photoreactively immobilized on a conventional polymer surface, and it had reduced interaction with proteins and cells. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Enabling Electrocatalytic Fischer–Tropsch Synthesis from Carbon Dioxide Over Copper-based Electrodes
We report on the discovery that paraffins and olefins up to C6 hydrocarbons can be obtained in CO2 electroreduction at room temperature and atmospheric pressure by application of a commercially available Cu-electrode (Eurofysica), provided pretreatment by electropolishing is avoided. The product distribution follows the Schultz–Flory distribution and, depending on the applied potential, the chain growth probability (α) ranges from 0.23 to 0.31, values lower than those obtained in Fischer–Tropsch synthesis over heterogeneous Co- or Fe-based catalysts. 相似文献
