The Japan Atomic Energy Agency has been conducting research and development on the thermo-chemical iodine–sulfur (IS) process, which is one of the most attractive water-splitting hydrogen production methods that uses nuclear thermal energy. The sulfuric acid decomposer is one of the key components of the IS process. The boiling heat transfer coefficients of sulfuric acid solutions are required to design the sulfuric acid decomposer. These coefficients were measured in aqueous solutions where the mole fraction of H2O ranged from 0.17 to 0.37 (heat flux range from 16.9 kW/m2 to 5.6 kW/m2) and compared with the empirical correlations formulated for binary mixtures. A combination of the Stephan–Körner correlation, using the empirical constant A0 = 2.00, and the Nishikawa–Fujita correlation was used to predict the experimental results with an accuracy of ±10%. 相似文献

Structure and properties of starch and water soluble polysaccharides (WSP) from sugary (su) endosperm of rice were examined. The su starch contained more amylose and had a somewhat higher ratio of the short chains to the long chains of amylopectin than normal starch. The WSP consisted of short α-1, 4-chains and their average degree of polymerization was 8.6 glucose units. Susceptibility of the su starch to crude Rh. glucoamylase was higher than that of the normal. The initial and final temperatures and heat of gelatinization of the su starch granules were much lower than those of the normal ones. 相似文献

The applicability of Monte Carlo techniques, namely the Monte Carlo sensitivity method and the random-sampling method, for uncertainty quantification of the effective delayed neutron fraction βeff is investigated using the continuous-energy Monte Carlo transport code, MCNP, from the perspective of statistical convergence issues. This study focuses on the nuclear data as one of the major sources of βeff uncertainty. For validation of the calculated βeff, a critical configuration of the VENUS-F zero-power reactor was used. It is demonstrated that Chiba's modified k-ratio method is superior to Bretscher's prompt k-ratio method in terms of reducing the statistical uncertainty in calculating not only βeff but also its sensitivities and the uncertainty due to nuclear data. From this result and a comparison of uncertainties obtained by the Monte Carlo sensitivity method and the random-sampling method, it is shown that the Monte Carlo sensitivity method using Chiba's modified k-ratio method is the most practical for uncertainty quantification of βeff. Finally, total βeff uncertainty due to nuclear data for the VENUS-F critical configuration is determined to be approximately 2.7% with JENDL-4.0u, which is dominated by the delayed neutron yield of 235U. 相似文献

Immunoglobulin G (IgG) adopts a modular multidomain structure that mediates antigen recognition and effector functions, such as complement-dependent cytotoxicity. IgG molecules are self-assembled into a hexameric ring on antigen-containing membranes, recruiting the complement component C1q. In order to provide deeper insights into the initial step of the complement pathway, we report a high-speed atomic force microscopy study for the quantitative visualization of the interaction between mouse IgG and the C1 complex composed of C1q, C1r, and C1s. The results showed that the C1q in the C1 complex is restricted regarding internal motion, and that it has a stronger binding affinity for on-membrane IgG2b assemblages than C1q alone, presumably because of the lower conformational entropy loss upon binding. Furthermore, we visualized a 1:1 stoichiometric interaction between C1/C1q and an IgG2a variant that lacks the entire CH1 domain in the absence of an antigen. In addition to the canonical C1q-binding site on Fc, their interactions are mediated through a secondary site on the CL domain that is cryptic in the presence of the CH1 domain. Fine-tuned, molecular-composite, organosilica membranes were fabricated via the co-condensation of organosilica precursors bis(triethoxysilyl)acetylene (BTESA) and bis(triethoxysilyl)benzene (BTESB). Fourier transform infrared and UV–vis spectra confirmed the co-condensation behaviors of BTESA and BTESB. The evolution of the network structure indicated that the incorporated BTESB decreased the membrane pore size, which was determined by a modified gas translation model according to the steric effect of the phenyl groups. The incorporation of BTESB to BTESA finely tuned the membrane structure and endowed the resultant composite membrane with improved separation properties. The BTESAB 9:1 membrane (molar ratio of BTESA/BTESB was 9:1) exhibited high C3H6 permeance at 4.5 × 10−8 mol m−2 s−1 Pa−1 and a C3H6/C3H8 permeance ratio of 33 at 50°C. One of the most important developments of this study involved clearly defining the relationship between membrane pore size and C3H6/C3H8 separation performance for organosilica membranes in single and binary separation systems. 相似文献

Polytitanocarbosilane (TiPCS)-derived ceramic membranes were fabricated using a pre-ceramic polymer. Special attention was focused on a process of thermal-oxidative curing that was used to induce cross-linking and the effect of this process on the ceramic yield, thermal stability, oxidation resistance, and microstructure of TiPCS. The cross-linked TiPCS powders showed a ceramic yield and thermal stability that were higher than that from the non-cross-linked version. In addition, the cross-linked TiPCS with uniform micropores showed higher levels of N2 and CO2 adsorption capacity, BET surface area, and micropore volume than the non-cross-linked versions, and the cross-linking process enhanced the stability of the pore structure at high temperature. The cross-linked TiPCS membranes showed high H2 permeance (1.49 × 10−6 mol/(m2 s Pa)) with sub-nanopores (H2/SF6 selectivity: 12 000, H2/N2: 10), and in addition higher oxidation resistance than their non-cross-linked counterparts. Furthermore, the influence of the concentration of the TiPCS precursor coating solution was optimized and the hydrothermal stability of the membranes at high temperatures was also evaluated. The optimized membrane demonstrated great performance for the pervaporation removal of methanol in binary azeotropic systems of either MeOH/butyl acetate or MeOH/toluene, and it also showed high hydrothermal stability with excellent dehumidification performance under high temperatures. 相似文献

Therapeutic vascular catheterization techniques are sometimes hampered by the frictional forces between the blood vessel and the catheter, when contact points of the vessel are changing and deforming during the movement of the catheter. The goal of the present study was to characterize frictional interactions between the blood vessel wall and the catheter using experimental and numerical analysis. First, the frictional force was measured with an experimental apparatus that uses a ball and flattened porcine aorta to simulate frictional forces between the catheter and the vessel. Second, catheter motion was characterized by two-dimensional numerical calculations based on the experimental results. Experimental analysis demonstrated that slip occurred and that friction coefficient between the vessel and the catheter and the deformation of the specimen were small when the contact between the ball and the aorta occurred at a small angle. The compliance of the specimen in the normal direction obtained by the experiment was by far larger than that calculated according to the Hertzian contact theory. Numerical analysis shows that this difference of the parameter of the vessel, which must be determined accurately in surgical simulator, could affect the trajectory of the catheter. 相似文献

Epoxy/vapor grown carbon nanofiber composites (VGCF) with different proportions of VGCF were fabricated by the in situ process.The VGCFs were well dispersed in both of the low and high viscosity epoxy matrices, although occasional small aggregates were observed in a high viscosity epoxy of 20 wt.%. The dynamic mechanical behavior of the nanocomposite sheets was studied. The storage modulus and the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the polymer were increased by the incorporation of VGCFs.The electrical and mechanical properties of the epoxy-VGCFs nanocomposite sheets with different weight percentages of VGCFs were discussed. The results were that both had maximum tensile strength and Young’s modulus at 5 wt.% for both materials and reduced the fracture strain with increasing filler content. The electrical resistivity was decreased with the addition of filler content. Mechanical, electrical and thermal properties of low viscosity epoxy composites were resulted better than that of the high viscosity composites. 相似文献

The pseudocapacitance of nanocrystalline RuO2 with BET surface area of 42 m2 g−1 was evaluated using a RuO2 modified Glassy Carbon (RuO2/GC) thin film electrode. The charge storage behavior of the RuO2/GC thin film electrode was studied from fast to slow scan cyclic voltammetry between various potential windows. The utilization of the thin film electrode method for nanocrystalline RuO2 with known specific surface area allowed a semi-quantitative understanding of the electric double-layer capacitance (Cdl), adsorption related charge (Cad), and the irreversible redox related charge (Cirr) per unit mass and surface area of RuO2. Comparison of the cyclic voltammograms between different voltage windows revealed that the contribution from Cirr is especially dominant below 0.4 V (versus RHE) at slow scan rates. 相似文献
