Thermotropic liquid‐crystalline (LC) electrolytes for lithium‐ion batteries are developed for the first time. A rod‐like LC molecule having a cyclic carbonate moiety is used to form self‐assembled two‐dimensional ion‐conductive pathways with lithium salts. Electrochemical and thermal stability, and efficient ionic conduction is achieved for the liquid crystal. The mixture of the carbonate derivative and lithium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide is successfully applied as an electrolyte in lithium‐ion batteries. Reversible charge–discharge for both positive and negative electrodes is observed for the lithium‐ion batteries composed of the LC electrolyte.  相似文献

The amount of evaporation residue was investigated as an index of total amount of non-volatile substances that migrated from plastic kitchen utensils into four food-simulating solvents (water, 4% acetic acid, 20% ethanol and heptane). The samples were 71 products made of 12 types of plastics for food contact use. The amount was determined in accordance with the Japanese testing method. The quantitation limit was 5 μg/mL. In the cases of polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, acrylonitrile styrene resin, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene resin, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, polymethylpentene, polymethylmethacrylate and polyethylene terephthalate samples, the amount was highest for heptane and very low for the other solvents. On the other hand, in the cases of melamine resin and polyamide samples, the amount was highest for 4% acetic acid or 20% ethanol and lowest for heptane. These results enabled the selection of the most suitable solvent, and the rapid and efficient determination of evaporation residue.  相似文献

The effects of cytoplasmic and periplasmic chaperones on the secretory production of an anti-bovine ribonuclease A single-chain variable fragment (scFv) 3A21 in Escherichia coli were investigated. Co-expression of a cytoplasmic chaperone, GroEL/ES, DnaK/DnaJ/GrpE, trigger factor, or SecB with 3A21 scFv affected the proportions of antigen-binding activity in the cytoplasmic soluble fraction, the periplasmic fraction, and the extracellular medium, but there was no significant difference in the total activity compared to the control without chaperone co-expression. On the other hand, co-expression of a periplasmic chaperone, Skp or FkpA, with the exception of DsbC, greatly increased the binding activity in all the soluble fractions. Co-expression of both Skp and FkpA had no synergistic effect. Combinations of cytoplasmic and periplasmic chaperones decreased the productivity. In shake-flask cultures of cells co-expressing Skp or FkpA, considerable amounts of 3A21 scFv were detected in the extracellular medium by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Western blot, and the extracellular production level of 3A21 scFv was calculated to be around 40mg/l. The binding activity of 3A21 scFv co-expressed with Skp was slightly higher than that with FkpA. These results indicate that the co-expression of periplasmic chaperones Skp and FkpA is extremely useful for the secretory production of scFvs in a culture medium using E. coli, but cytoplasmic chaperones and multiple-chaperone combinations may not be effective.  相似文献

It has been proposed that bottom-fermenting yeast strains of Saccharomyces pastorianus possess at least two types of genomes. Sequences of genes of one genome [S. cerevisiae (Sc)-type] have been found to be highly homologous (more than 90% identity) to S. cerevisiae S288C sequences, while those of the other [Lager (Lg)-type] are less so. To identify and discriminate Lg-type from Sc-type genes expressed during lager beer fermentation, normalized cDNA libraries were constructed and analysed. From approximately 22 000 ESTs, 3892 Sc-type and 2695 Lg-type ORFs were identified. Expression patterns of Sc- and Lg-type genes did not correlate with particular cell functions in KEGG classification system. Moreover, 405 independent clones were isolated that have no significant homology with sequences in the S288C database, suggesting that they include the bottom-fermenting yeast-specific (BFY) genes. Most of BFY genes have significant homology with the S. bayanus genome.  相似文献

Mitsui and Ohshima (2008) criticized the power-stroke model for muscle contraction and proposed a new model. In the new model, about 41% of the myosin heads are bound to actin filaments, and each bound head forms a complex MA(3) with three actin molecules A1, A2 and A3 forming the crossbridge. The complex translates along the actin filament cooperating with each other. The new model well explained the experimental data on the steady filament sliding. As an extension of the study, the isometric tension transient and isotonic velocity transient are investigated. Statistical ensemble of crossbridges is introduced, and variation of the binding probability of myosin head to A1 is considered. When the binding probability to A1 is zero, the Hill-type force-velocity relation is resulted in. When the binding probability to A1 becomes finite, the deviation from the Hill-type force-velocity relation takes place, as observed by Edman (1988). The characteristics of the isometric tension transient observed by Ford, Huxley and Simmons (1977) and of the isotonic velocity transient observed by Civan and Podolsky (1966) are theoretically reproduced. Ratios of the extensibility are estimated as 0.22 for the crossbridge, 0.26 for the myosin filament and 0.52 for the actin filament, in consistency with the values determined by X-ray diffraction by Wakabayashi et al. A binary photocontrolled nucleic acid probe that contains a nucleotide modified with one photolabile nitrobenzyl unit and two hybridization-sensitive thiazole orange units has been designed for area-specific fluorescence imaging of RNA in a cell. The synthesized probe emitted very weak fluorescence regardless of the presence of the complementary RNA, whereas it showed hybridization-sensitive fluorescence emission at 532 nm after photoirradiation at 360 or 405 nm for uncaging. Fluorescence suppression of the caged probe was attributed to a decrease in the duplex-formation ability. Caged fluorescent nucleotides with other emission wavelengths (622 and 724 nm) were also synthesized in this study; they were uncaged by 360 nm irradiation, and emitted fluorescence in the presence of the complementary RNA. Such probes were applied to area-specific RNA imaging in a cell. Only probes in the defined irradiation area were activated by uncaging irradiation, and subnuclear mRNA diffusion in a living cell was monitored.  相似文献

In this study, the friction of eight kinds of poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogel (PVA-H) samples has been studied under various load and velocity conditions to elucidate the effects of PVA factors such as the degree of polymerization (DP) and the saponification value (SV) on the tribological behavior of PVA-H. Results showed the variations of the friction properties due to the PVA factors in the two friction conditions found for the hydrogels: elastic friction and hydrodynamic lubrication. In the elastic friction, the larger frictions were induced by the higher values of DP and SV. In the hydrodynamic lubrication, on the other hand, PVA-Hs with lower SV showed larger friction. The results can then be used to adjust the parameters of PVA-H in order to get given friction properties, for instance for the friction between catheter or scalpel and PVA-H, which can be used as a biomodel material of artery or oral mucosa, for the training of surgeons.  相似文献

Rationalization of the maintenance of gas‐insulated equipment under operation and lifetime extension based on the results of appropriate diagnosis are necessary to reduce the cost of gas‐insulated equipment. Therefore, condition‐based maintenance (CBM) is required and accurate methods for observing the inside of equipment are important. In this report, we describe a diagnosis method that can be used for actual gas‐insulated equipment, such as to assess the deterioration of the spacers made of epoxy resin and to detect loose connections in the central conductor. The principal results are summarized as follows: (1) The quantity of decomposition gases depends on the moisture and magnitude of the partial discharge. However, decomposition gases were detected even if SF6 had low moisture content (less than 100 ppm) similar to that used in actual equipment. This means that our method can be applied to actual equipment. (2) It became clear that CF4 is a typical gas generated by partial discharge on the spacer surface. Therefore, it is possible to diagnose spacer deterioration by monitoring CF4. (3) Decomposition gases (SF4, SO2, SO4, SO2F2) were generated by impulse breakdown, which was assumed to be due to repetition discharge caused by insulation failure and loose connections. (4) SF6 gas was assumed to be exposed to a loose connection and was heated from room temperature to 800 °C, and the generated decomposition gases were analyzed by FTIR in real time. As a result, the decomposition gases were generated at temperatures above approximately 500 °C in a heating time of 1.5 minutes. The results of an experimental study on transient phenomena in a closed cycle disk MHD generator are described in this paper. The transient phenomena were caused by a steplike change of load resistance during testing of the shock‐tube driven disk MHD generator. The load resistance was varied by using an IGBT (insulated gate bipolar transistor) installed in the load circuit. When the load resistance was changed from 0.096 Ω to 2.5 Ω, overshoot of the Hall output voltage and of the Hall electric field was observed, and a large fluctuation of static pressure was also observed. At the same time, a spikelike increase of the cesium recombination continuum and line spectrum appeared just after the load change. The results of quasi‐one‐ dimensional numerical simulation indicate that the observed overshoot was caused by the following phenomena: (1) a steep reduction of the Hall current and a steep increase in both the Faraday current and the electrical conductivity and (2) a slow reduction of the gas velocity due to the enhanced retarding force. Furthermore, the measured spikelike increase of the radiation intensity was ascribed to an increase of electron temperature and electron number density due to a steep increase of Joule heating. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Reactive power supply plays an important role in active power supply with adequate system voltages. Various pricing mechanisms for reactive power supply have been developed and some of them have been adopted in some power systems, but they are in a trial stage. The authors also focus on development of a pricing method for reactive power ancillary services. This problem involves two technical issues: rational estimation of the cost associated with reactive power supply, and fair and transparent allocation of the estimated cost among the market participants.
