The binding of Lewis bases to organoboron polymeric Lewis acids has been studied and the parameters that determine the complexation
equilibrium have been investigated, which include (i) the strength of the individual Lewis acids and Lewis bases, (ii) concentration,
and (iii) temperature. While the strongly Lewis acidic borane polymers poly(4-bis(pentafluorophenyl)borylstyrene) (PS-BPf) and poly(4-(di-2-thienylboryl)styrene) (PS-BTh) form isolable complexes with strong Lewis bases such as 4-t-butylpyridine (tPy), a temperature dependent equilibrium is established with weaker bases such as THF. Similarly, the weakly Lewis acidic
boronate polymer poly(4-diethoxyborylstyrene) (PS-BOEt) undergoes a temperature dependent equilibrium with the strong Lewis base 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP), while poly(4-pinacolatoborylstyrene)

Pneumocystis can transiently colonize healthy individuals without causing adverse symptoms, and most people test positive for exposure
to this organism early in life. However, it can cause Pneumocystis pneumonia (PcP) in people with impaired immune systems and is a major cause of death in HIV/AIDS. Although it has close affinities
to the Ascomycetes, Pneumocystis has features unlike those of any single group of fungi. For example, Pneumocystis does not synthesize ergosterol, which is consistent with the inefficacy of amphotericin B and some triazoles in clearing
PcP. Pneumocystis sterols include distinct Δ7 24-alkylsterols. Metabolic radiolabeling experiments demonstrated that P. carinii synthesizes sterols de novo. Cholesterol is the most abundant sterol in Pneumocystis; most, if not all, is scavenged from the mammalian host lung by the pathogen. The P. carinii erg7, erg6, and erg11 genes have been cloned, sequenced, and expressed in heterologous systems. The recombinant P. carinii S-adenosyl-l-methionine:C-24 sterol methyl transferase (SAM:SMT) has a preference for lanosterol over zymosterol as substrate, and the
enzyme can catalyze the transfer of either one or two methyl groups to the C-24 position of the sterol side chain. Two different
sterol compositions were detected among human-derived P. jirovecii; one was dominated by C28 and C29 sterols, and the other had high proportions of higher molecular mass components, notably the C32 sterol pneumocysterol. The latter phenotype apparently represents organisms blocked at 14α-demethylation of the sterol nucleus.
These studies suggest that SAM:SMT is an attractive drug target for developing new chemotherapy for PcP. 相似文献

Vapor transport equilibration (VTE) treatments were performed on a Y-cut bulk Er (1.6 mol%)-doped congruent LiNbO3 crystal and an X-cut pure congruent crystal, on one surface of which a 40 nm-thick film of erbium metal was coated before the VTE treatment. Scanning electron microscope, powder or single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), polarized infrared absorption/emission of Er3+ as well as micro-Raman spectroscopy were used to study the two VTE crystals. The results are discussed in comparison with a corresponding as-grown bulk Er-doped crystal, calcined ErNbO4 powder, and a locally Er-doped congruent LiNbO3 crystal prepared by using the standard Er-diffusion technique. The experimental results show that the VTE treatment induces the formation of micrometer-sized ErNbO4 precipitates with the crystallographic morphology of a flat polyhedron not only on the surfaces of both crystals but also in the bulk of the homogeneously Er-doped one. The optical absorption and emission studies show that the formation of the precipitates results in substantial spectral changes in both the 0.98 and 1.5 μm regions. The micro-Raman studies allow to resolve four additional Raman peaks around 800 cm−1 in the E(TO) spectra of the two VTE crystals. These additional Raman peaks are associated with the characteristic vibrations with respect to the NbO4 3− group. Characteristic XRD, optical absorption, and emission and Raman peaks for identifying the ErNbO4 phase are proposed. Finally, the formation mechanism and light-scattering effect of the precipitates are discussed. 相似文献

Well-crystallized bismuth tungstate (Bi2 WO6 ) powders with different morphologies were successfully synthesized via a low-temperature molten salt method. The powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and UV-Vis, respectively. It was found that the variation of morphology of the obtained Bi2 WO6 powder mainly depends on the different reaction temperatures and the weight ratio of LiNO3 –NaNO3 salt to precursor. In addition, the UV-Visible absorption spectra showed that the synthesized powders had strong light absorption properties not only in the ultraviolet light but also in the visible light region. 相似文献

PdOx/MnO2 has been examined as a catalyst for CO oxidation using a conventional flow reactor at reaction temperatures between 50 and 150°C. In the reaction conditions of GHSV (gashourlyspacevelocity) of 1.22 × 105/h and CO concentration of 2000 ppm, PdOx/MnO2 showed higher catalytic activity compared with PdOx/Mn2O3, which had been previously reported as an effective catalyst due to the cooperative action of Pd and Mn2O3 for this reaction. The reason for higher activity of PdOx/MnO2 than PdOx/Mn2O3 has been investigated using TPR (temperatureprogrammed reduction) and XPS studies. TPR showed that PdOx/MnO2 could be reduced by CO at much lower temperature than PdOx/Mn2O3. During the experiment of reduction and oxidation, XPS showed that the valence of Mn in the PdOx/MnO2 was between 4+ and 3+, which is higher than that of Mn in the PdOx/Mn2O3 catalyst of which the valence has been reported to be between 3+ and 2+. It is known that in this catalyst system the support supplies oxygen onto Pd, where the oxidation occurs with adsorbed CO, and the ability of the support to provide oxygen improves the performance of the catalyst. Therefore, it was concluded that the readiness of MnO2 to be reduced with maintaining a higher oxidation state showed higher CO oxidation activity than Mn2O3 as support for PdOx. 相似文献

CeO2 particles confined within the pores of an SBA-15 mesoporous silica host were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation (IMP)
and deposition precipitation (DP) methods. The materials were characterized by XRD, N2-adsorption and temperature programmed reduction (TPR) to evaluate the structure, texture, and redox properties. The preparation
procedure had significant impact on the assembling mode of CeO2 inside the SBA-15 mesopores. A high dispersion of CeO2 particles was achieved via DP, whereas the dispersion of CeO2 prepared by IMP was found to be inhomogeneous and CeO2 partially blocked the pores.
