On‐the‐Spot Immobilization of Quantum Dots,Graphene Oxide,and Proteins via Hydrophobins

Class I hydrophobin Vmh2, a peculiar surface active and versatile fungal protein, is known to self‐assemble into chemically stable amphiphilic films, to be able to change wettability of surfaces, and to strongly adsorb other proteins. Herein, a fast, highly homogeneous and efficient glass functionalization by spontaneous self‐assembling of Vmh2 at liquid–solid interfaces is achieved (in 2 min). The Vmh2‐coated glass slides are proven to immobilize not only proteins but also nanomaterials such as graphene oxide (GO) and quantum dots (QDs). As models, bovine serum albumin labeled with Alexa 555 fluorophore, anti‐immunoglobulin G antibodies, and cadmium telluride QDs are patterned in a microarray fashion in order to demonstrate functionality, reproducibility, and versatility of the proposed substrate. Additionally, a GO layer is effectively and homogeneously self‐assembled onto the studied functionalized surface. This approach offers a quick and simple alternative to immobilize nanomaterials and proteins, which is appealing for new bioanalytical and nanobioenabled applications.

A Distribution‐freeCUSUMChart for Monitoring Variability of AutocorrelatedProcesses

We present a distribution‐free tabular cumulative sum chart for monitoring the variability of an autocorrelated process. A quantity known as the asymptotic variance parameter is employed as a measure of the variability, and a distribution‐free tabular cumulative sum chart is applied to variance estimates calculated from batches of nonoverlapping samples. The proposed chart is applicable to a stationary process with a general marginal distribution and a general autocorrelation structure. It also determines control limits analytically without trial‐and‐error simulations. The performance of the proposed chart is tested on stationary processes with both normal and nonnormal marginals with various autocorrelation structures. 一种基于Spark的不确定数据集频繁模式挖掘算法

如何在海量不确定数据集中提高频繁模式挖掘性能是目前研究的热点.传统算法大多是以期望、概率或者权重等单一指标为数据项集支持度，在大数据背景下，同时考虑概率和权重支持度的算法难以兼顾其执行效率.为此，本文提出一种基于Spark的不确定数据集频繁模式挖掘算法（UWEFP），首先，为了同时兼顾数据项的概率和权重，计算一项集的最大概率权重值并进行剪枝；然后，为了减少对数据集的多次扫描，结合Spark框架的优点，设计了一种具有FP-tree特征的新颖的UWEFP-tree结构进行模式树的构建及挖掘；最后在Spark环境下，以UCI数据集进行实验验证.实验结果表明本文的方法在保证挖掘结果的同时，提高了效率.     

On the performance of band-limited asynchronous DS-CDMA over nakagami-m channels

In this paper we investigated the BER performance of DS-CDMA using various chip-waveforms, which include three time-limited chip-waveforms and two band-limited chip-waveforms. Closed-form formulae were derived for evaluating the achievable bit-error rate performance with the aid of the standard Gaussian approximation, when communicating over a Nakagami-m channel. The time-limited waveforms impose a low implementational complexity, since they maybe over sampled and read from a look-up table. However, they are outperformed by the frequency-domain raised-cosine waveform as well as the optimum waveform specifically designed by Cho and Lehnert for achieving the lowest possible bit error rate

Inhibition of microbial growth in ready‐to‐eat food stored at ambient temperature by modified atmosphere packaging

This study was undertaken to develop a modified atmosphere package to control microbial growth in ready‐to‐eat (RTE) products stored at ambient temperature. Ethanol and/or limonene associated with modified atmosphere (CO₂ : O₂ : N₂ = 30% : 5% : 65%) was used to inhibit the growth of total air‐borne microorganisms and Escherichia coli in RTE products stored at 25°C. The results indicated that 0.05% ethanol vapour in the headspace was effective to inhibit the growth of air‐borne microorganisms and E. coli at 25°C for 72 h in a model study, and the effectiveness was related to ethanol content. Both 73 ppm limonene and 0.05% ethanol vapour enhanced the bacteriostatic effect of modified atmosphere in RTE sushi roll products, and no off‐flavour was detected using this formulated gas; however, no significant inhibitory effect was observed for RTE cold noodle products. This study concludes that combinations of carbon dioxide, ethanol or limonene vapours are effective to inhibit microbial growth in RTE food at ambient temperature, and the outcome may be due to the hurdle effect.
