Diffuse pollution is usually temporally and spatially uncertain, and thus hard to analyze. In many cases, discretizing a diffuse source of pollution into individual point sources can ease diffuse pollution modelling and analysis, and therefore reduce high uncertainty especially in the spatial distribution of pollution loads. This is however a difficult task, since quite a number of sub-drainage areas, with complex structures and land-use properties, has to be delineated. Watershed models can be used to delineate the sub-drainage areas in a watershed with high accuracy and locate the related outlets which connect the sub-drainage areas to the main waterbody in a watershed. In this study, such an approach has been used on a case study to model the diffuse nutrient loads carried to streams that reach to a medium-sized lake in Turkey. The annual nutrient loads, which were calculated by using mathematical models, were then converted to a load-map with the help of a geographical information system.  相似文献

A new method for an on-line monitoring system for the nuclear power plants has been developed utilizing the neural networks and the expert system. The integration of them is expected to enhance a substantial potential of the functionality as operators support.

The recurrent neural network and the feed-forward neural network with adaptive learning are selected for the plant modeling and anomaly detection because of the high capability of modeling for dynamic behavior. The expert system is used as a decision agent, which works on the information space of both the neural networks and the human operators. The information of other sensory signals is also fed to the expert system, together with the outputs that the neural networks generate from the measured plant signals. The expert system can treat almost all known correlation between plant status patterns and operation modes as a priori set of rules.

From the off-line test at Borssele Nuclear Power Plant (PWR 480 MWe) in the Netherlands, it was shown that the neuro-expert system successfully monitored the plant status. The expert system worked satisfactorily in diagnosing the system status by using the outputs of the neural networks and a priori knowledge base from the PWR simulator. The electric power coefficient is simultaneously monitored from the measured reactive and active electric power signals.  相似文献

Online communities rely heavily on badges to incentivize users to participate in voluntary activities. We examine the relationship between earned badges/pursued badges and contributions in the Stack Overflow question and answer community. Our main results reveal that different levels of earned and pursued badges increase the amount of subsequent answering activity. In addition, earned gold badges are the most influential in the motivation of users while earned bronze badges are the least impactful. Furthermore, the effect of badges involves positive spillovers from higher levels of earned badges to lower ones. Our findings offer important theoretical and managerial implications for online communities.  相似文献

Nowadays, every firm uses telecommunication networks in different amounts and ways in order to complete their daily operations. In this article, we investigate an optimisation problem that a firm faces when acquiring network capacity from a market in which there exist several network providers offering different pricing and quality of service (QoS) schemes. The QoS level guaranteed by network providers and the minimum quality level of service, which is needed for accomplishing the operations are denoted as fuzzy numbers in order to handle the non-deterministic nature of the telecommunication network environment. Interestingly, the mathematical formulation of the aforementioned problem leads to the special case of a well-known two-dimensional bin packing problem, which is famous for its computational complexity. We propose two different heuristic solution procedures that have the capability of solving the resulting nonlinear mixed integer programming model with fuzzy constraints. In conclusion, the efficiency of each algorithm is tested in several test instances to demonstrate the applicability of the methodology.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the static and dynamic bifurcation phenomena exhibited by a nonlinear autonomous system in the vicinity of a double-zero eigenvalue. It is demonstrated analytically that such a coincident critical point is often located on the intersection of the divergence and flutter boundaries of the system. The analysis is performed via a new 'unification technique' which is based on an intrinsic perturbation procedure. The new approach is capable of yielding information about stability of solutions as well as incipient and secondary bifurcations. Indeed, the stability properties of the system and secondary Hopf bifurcations are discussed conveniently, and explicit results concerning post-critical solutions are presented. The stress-strain behavior of cast 319-T6 aluminum-copper alloys with three different secondary dendrite arm spacings (SDASs) was studied at high temperatures and under thermomechanical deformation, exposing marked cyclic softening. A two state-variable unified inelastic constitutive model proposed earlier was modified to describe the stress-strain responses of these alloys by considering the variation of hardening and recovery functions of back-stress and drag stress. The SDAS was incorporated in the model as a length-scale parameter, and the material constants were determined systematically from experiments on a cast 319-T6 aluminum with small and large SDASs. The capabilities of the constitutive model were checked by the comparisons of simulations to experiments in the small-strain regime (<0.005). The results show that the model provides successful simulations for material response after thermal exposure at high temperature and cyclic transient stress-strain behavior. The causes of mechanical behaviors at the macro scale are discussed based on microstructural changes during thermal exposure.  相似文献

This paper presents an experimental determination of energy requirement for greenhouse heating. The overall heat loss coefficient, heat input, the control factor for air‐tightness, the rate of heat loss and the thermal screen effectiveness were calculated. The relationships between the overall heat loss coefficient and the wind speed, and the outside temperature were modelled, including the measured and calculated values. It was found that the thermal screen effectiveness was 16 and 19.8% for the polyethylene (PE) and polyester screens, respectively. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
