Static indentation and unloading response of sandwich beams   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This paper deals with analysis of foam core sandwich beams subject to static indentation and subsequent unloading (removal of load). Sandwich beams are assumed continuously supported by a rigid platen to eliminate global bending. An analytical model is presented assuming an elastic-perfectly plastic compressive behaviour of the foam core. An elastic part of indentation response is described using the Winkler foundation model. Upon removal of the load, an elastic unloading response of the foam core is assumed. Also, finite element (FE) analysis of static indentation and unloading of sandwich beams is performed using the FE code ABAQUS. The foam core is modelled using the crushable foam material model. To obtain input data for the analytical model and to calibrate the crushable foam model in FE analysis, the response of the foam core is experimentally characterized in uniaxial compression, up to densification, with subsequent unloading and tension until tensile fracture. Both models can predict load–displacement response of sandwich beams under static indentation and a residual dent magnitude in the face sheet after unloading along with residual strain levels in the foam core at the unloaded equilibrium state. The analytical and FE analyses are experimentally verified through static indentation tests of composite sandwich beams with two different foam cores. The load–displacement response, size of a crushed core zone and the depth of a residual dent are measured in the testing. A digital speckle photography technique is also used in the indentation tests in order to measure the strain levels in the crushed core zone. The experimental results are in good agreement with the analytical and FE analyses.  相似文献

We compared three different bibliometric evaluation approaches: two citation-based approaches and one based on manual classification of publishing channels into quality levels. Publication data for two universities was used, and we worked with two levels of analysis: article and department. For the article level, we investigated the predictive power of field normalized citation rates and field normalized journal impact with respect to journal level. The results for the article level show that evaluation of journals based on citation impact correlate rather well with manual classification of journals into quality levels. However, the prediction from field normalized citation rates to journal level was only marginally better than random guessing. At the department level, we studied three different indicators in the context of research fund allocation within universities and the extent to which the three indicators produce different distributions of research funds. It turned out that the three distributions of relative indicator values were very similar, which in turn yields that the corresponding distributions of hypothetical research funds would be very similar.  相似文献

The ice surface softening by friction is investigated considering the additive non-correlated fluctuations of the shear strain and stress, and the temperature. The premelting is construed by the Kelvin–Voigt equation for shear strain and by the relaxation equations of Landau–Khalatnikov type for shear stress and temperature. Taking into account the noises in these equations, the Langevin and Fokker–Planck equations are derived. Their analysis is based on the investigation of extrema of the distribution function, i.e., steady-state values of the shear strain using the Stratonovich interpretation. The phase diagrams are constructed, where the noises intensities and thermostat temperature determine the regions of ice, softened ice and their mixture (stick–slip rubbing). We present that domain of ice friction is bounded by relatively small background sliding block temperatures and fluctuation intensities of the stress and temperature. The ice film softens with growth of the stress noise intensity even at small thermostat temperatures. The friction force time series for all rubbing modes are calculated and compared with experimentally observed ones.  相似文献

Currently available treatments for the degenerated intervertebral disc present disadvantages, such as surgical invasiveness and inadequate load distribution results. Load-bearing, injectable materials may be interesting for future therapies, but have not been studied in depth. In this study, the existing literature was screened for studies on injectable materials for the intervertebral disc and a rationale for load-bearing, injectable materials was formulated. Requirements for such a material were discussed, partly based on the experience of materials used for similar applications. Important properties were discussed and found to include biocompatibility, bioactivity, porosity, handling, injectability, working time, setting time, radiopacity, containment and mechanical properties, where several of these properties are linked to one another. In conclusion, there is a need for consensus on the properties of new materials developed for use in minimally invasive procedures in the spine. A substantial amount of attention may need to be given to non-toxic setting reactions.  相似文献

Salp15 is one of the proteins in the saliva of the tick Ixodes scapularis. Together with other biomolecules injected into the mammalian host at the biting site, it helps the tick to sustain its blood meal for days. Salp15 interferes with the cellular immune response of the mammalian host by inhibiting the activation of CD4+ T-lymphocytes. This function is co-opted by pathogens that use the tick as a vector and invade the host when the tick bites, such as Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative agent of Lyme borreliosis. Because of the immunity-suppressing role of Salp15, it has been proposed as a candidate for therapeutic applications in disorders of the immune system. The protein is produced as a 135-residue long polypeptide and secreted without its N-terminal signal 1–21 sequence. Detailed structural studies on Salp15 are lacking because of the difficulty in producing large amounts of the folded protein. We report the production of Salp15 and its structural analysis by NMR. The protein is monomeric and contains a flexible N-terminal region followed by a folded domain with mixed α + β secondary structures. Our results are consistent with a three-dimensional structural model derived from AlphaFold, which predicts the formation of three disulfide bridges and a free C-terminal cysteine.  相似文献

The dead-pressing phenomenon or pressure desensitization in ANFO as well as in other civil explosives is well-known. However, to our knowledge, the detailed study of this phenomenon in ANFO has not been carried out or reported. Therefore, such a study was planned in a SveDeFo research program. Blasting experiments in iron pipes were performed. Mainly, the density of dead-pressing and the transmission distance of detonation in the dead-pressed ANFO were studied. The results show that the dead-pressing density of the tested ANFO, Prillit A (a trademark of Nitro Nobel AB in Sweden), in diameters 45 mm, 60 mm and 75 mm of steel pipes is respectively 1.35, 1.39 and 1.43 [g/cm3]. The dependence of the detonation transmission distance on the density of the ANFO has also been outlined.  相似文献

Pressureless sintering of silicon nitride requires addition of sintering agents. The main part of this study was done in order to homogenize the distribution of sintering agents, in this case Y2O3, in a silicon nitride matrix. Colloidal 10-nm Y2O3 Particles were electrostatically adsorbed on Si3N4 particle surfaces. The adsorption was studied by X-ray fluorescence analysis and electrophoretic measurements. Addition of Y2O3 sol to a Si3N4 suspension decreased the viscosity of the suspension. The slip casting properties of Si3N4 suspensions with added Y2O3 sol were examined, and the homogeneity of Y2O3 in the green compacts was compared with conventionally prepared samples. An improved microstructural homogeneity was obtained when Y2O3 sol particles were adsorbed on the Si3N4 particle surfaces.  相似文献

Microbiological methods for detection of antibiotic residues in milk give no explanations regarding the identity of the inhibitory substance(s). Natural antibacterial substances, present at higher concentrations in mastitic milk and in colostrum, occasionally cause false positive results in antibiotic assays. In an earlier investigation, lysozyme and lactoferrin were shown to inhibit the growth of Bacillus stearothermophilus var. calidolactis spores, used as test organism in Delvotest P. To study the effect of high lysozyme and lactoferrin concentrations in milk on the Delvotest P, cows were subjected to acute experimental mastitis by infusion of Salmonella typhimurium SH 4809 endotoxin. Milk samples were collected up to 11 h postinfusion. Concentrations of lactoferrin and lysozyme, somatic cell count, and effect on Delvotest P were determined. A positive reaction in the Delvotest correlated well with an increase in lactoferrin and lysozyme concentrations. The nature of the inhibitory effect is briefly discussed.  相似文献

High quality thin films of TbMnO3 were grown by pulsed laser deposition on orthorhombicYAlO3 (1 0 0). The interface and surface roughness of a 55 nm thick film were probed by X-ray reflectometry and atomic force microscopy, yielding a roughness of 1 nm. X-ray diffraction revealed untwinned films and a small mosaic spread of 0.04° and 0.2° for out-of-plane and in-plane reflections, respectively. This high degree of epitaxy was also confirmed by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry. Using polarized neutron diffraction we could identify a magnetic structure with the propagation vector (0 0.27 0), identical to the bulk magnetic structure of TbMnO3.  相似文献

Udder cleft dermatitis (UCD) is an inflammatory skin condition affecting the anterior parts of the udder of dairy cows. The lesions may present as mild or severe skin lesions and have been associated with mastitis and digital dermatitis. The full etiology and pathogenesis are not understood and no large-scale studies have investigated prevalence and risk factors. Therefore, the main objectives of the study were to investigate the prevalence of mild and severe UCD in Swedish dairy herds and to identify risk factors associated with such lesions. We also wanted to investigate risk factors for all cases of UCD and to determine whether UCD increases the risk for mastitis and culling. A random sample of 100 freestall dairy herds were included in the study, and each herd was visited once. Cows were registered as having no, mild, or severe UCD. Additional cow and herd data were obtained via observations, interviews, and the Swedish Official Milk Recording Scheme. The data were analyzed using logistic regression models to identify risk factors for mild and severe UCD. In total, data from 3,479 cows in 99 herds were analyzed. The prevalence of mild and severe UCD was 19 and 9%, respectively. Lesions were found in 98 of 99 herds but the within-herd prevalence of mild (0–43%) and severe (0–33%) UCD varied notably between herds. Breed (Swedish Red compared with Swedish Holstein), certain udder conformation traits, and higher parity were risk factors associated with increased risk of UCD. In addition, cows with hock lesions and cows in herds with high incidence of culling due to hoof and leg diseases had a higher risk for mild UCD. More days in milk and high milk yield were cow-related risk factors associated with severe UCD. Three housing-related factors (shorter cubicles, mattress as cubicle base, and cubicles installed before 2001 compared with 2001–2005), a high incidence of veterinary-treated clinical mastitis and culling due to udder diseases, and a low incidence of culling of first-parity cows in early lactation were herd-related risk factors associated with increased risk for severe UCD. In addition, cows in herds with a high proportion of heifers older than 17 mo that were not inseminated were associated with lower risk of all UCD. Finally, UCD was not associated with the outcomes milk somatic cell count, veterinary-treated clinical mastitis, or culling in the multivariable analyses. The etiology of UCD is most likely multifactorial, involving udder conformation traits and other cow-related risk factors as well as herd-related risk factors. The high prevalence of severe UCD lesions in Swedish dairy cows emphasizes the need for preventive measures and efficient treatments.  相似文献
