Intensification of Tornado Turbulent Heat Exchange in Asymmetric Holes on a Plane Wall

A numerical investigation of the influence of the shape of an isolated asymmetric hole of moderate depth, located on a plane wall, on the convective heat exchange in the case of turbulent flow of an incompressible viscous fluid around it has been carried out within the framework of the multiblock approach to solution of steadystate Reynolds equations closed using Menter's zonal model of shearstress transfer and the energy equation.     

Control of the Near Wake of a Circular Cylinder in Blowing Out of Low-Head Jets

Nonstationary flow past a cylinder with organized blowing out of jets in the bottom part with the aim of reducing an alternating load on the body is investigated numerically.     

Improving solid-fuel pyrolysis and gasification for effective cogeneration

The thermal conversion of solid fuel is considered (for the example of biomass), with assessment of the yield of volatiles and coke residue. The optimal temperature range for its pyrolysis (the range corresponding to maximum heat of combustion of the gases per unit mass of the initial product) is identified. The influence of steam and air flow rates on the gasification products is studied. A system for the generation of thermal and electrical energy in the steam-gas cycle is proposed, with a biomass gasification unit. The energy loads of a population center are calculated, with engineering and economic assessment of the steam-gas cycle. Biomass-based cycles are compared, from the perspective of the energy efficiency of a cogeneration system.     

Rational technology for the deoxidation and out-of-furnace treatment of low-silicon steel

A rational technology is proposed for the deoxidation of low-silicon steel. It includes preliminary deoxidation by ferrosilicomanganese in metal tapping from a steel-melting unit and the introduction of aluminum ingots and aluminum rods during out-of-furnace treatment. As a result, the contamination of rolled roll sheets by nonmetallic inclusions decreases and the metal yield increases.
