Legged robots have the potential to navigate in challenging terrain, and thus to exceed the mobility of wheeled vehicles. However, their control is more difficult as legged robots need to deal with foothold computation, leg trajectories and posture control in order to achieve successful navigation. In this paper, we present a new framework for the hydraulic quadruped robot HyQ, which performs goal-oriented navigation on unknown rough terrain using inertial measurement data and stereo-vision. This work uses our previously presented reactive controller framework with balancing control and extends it with visual feedback to enable closed-loop gait adjustment. On one hand, the camera images are used to keep the robot walking towards a visual target by correcting its heading angle if the robot deviates from it. On the other hand, the stereo camera is used to estimate the size of the obstacles on the ground plane and thus the terrain roughness. The locomotion controller then adjusts the step height and the velocity according to the size of the obstacles. This results in a robust and autonomous goal-oriented navigation over difficult terrain while subject to disturbances from the ground irregularities or external forces. Indoor and outdoor experiments with our quadruped robot show the effectiveness of this framework.  相似文献

Two woven fabric laminates, one based on basalt fibres, the other on E-glass fibres, as a reinforcement for vinylester matrix, were compared in terms of their post-impact performance. With this aim, first the non-impacted specimens were subjected to interlaminar shear stress and flexural tests, then flexural tests were repeated on laminates impacted using a falling weight tower at three impact energies (7.5, 15 and 22.5J). Tests were monitored using acoustic emission analysis of signal distribution with load and with distance from the impact point. The results show that the materials have a similar damage tolerance to impact and also their post-impact residual properties after impact do not differ much, with a slight superiority for basalt fibre reinforced laminates. The principal difference is represented by the presence of a more extended delamination area on E-glass fibre reinforced laminates than on basalt fibre reinforced ones.  相似文献

Three large scale (with each a permeable area of 200 cm2) highly structured composite Pd and Pd–Au membranes were prepared and tested in an actual stream of coal derived, but desulfurized, syngas at the National Carbon Capture Center (NCCC) in Wilsonville, Al. The objective of the study was to investigate the long term membrane stability and to establish the long term effects of syngas contaminants in the coal derived syngas other than sulfur compounds on H2 permeance and selectivity. The large scale membranes had thicknesses ranging from 7 to 14 μm, H2 permeances ranging from 20 to 28 Nm3 m−2 h−1 bar−0.5, and an undetectable He leak before the actual syngas test. In the syngas atmosphere, composite Pd and Pd–Au membranes showed an outstanding H2 permeance stability at 450 °C and 12.6 bar for approximately 200 h albeit a fast initial decline upon syngas introduction. The fast permeance decline observed at the introduction of the actual syngas was attributed to possible surface and/or bulk poisoning. An exceptionally high H2 purity level of 99.89% was achieved at 450 °C and 12.6 bar during the entire period of the measurement of over 200 h in syngas atmosphere representing a breakthrough result in the field never reported before with actual syngas from a coal gasification unit.  相似文献

Two bis-trifluoromethyl pepstatin A analogues, carboxylic acid 1 and its methyl ester 2, have been synthesised in order to probe the properties and size of the trifluoromethyl (Tfm) group and compare it to the "bigger" isobutyl that is present in pepstatin A. The results demonstrate that Tfm can effectively replace the isobutyl chain as far as inhibitory activity against plasmepsin II (PM II), an aspartic proteinase from Plasmodium falciparum, is concerned. On the other hand, replacement of isobutyl by Tfm selectively affected activity against other aspartic proteinases tested. Two lines of evidence led to these conclusions. Firstly, compounds 1 and 2 retained single-digit nanomolar inhibitory activity against PM II, but were markedly less active against PM IV, cathepsin D and cathepsin E. Secondly, the X-ray crystal structures of the three complexes of PM II with 1, 2 and pepstatin A were obtained at 2.8, 2.4 and 1.7 A resolution, respectively. High overall similarity among the three complexes indicated that the central Tfm was well accommodated in the lipophilic S1 pocket of PM II, where it was involved in tight hydrophobic contacts. The interaction of PM II with Phe111 appeared to be crucial. Comparison of the crystal structures presented here, with X-ray structures or structural models of PM IV and cathepsin D, allowed an interpretation of the inhibition profiles of pepstatin A and its Tfm variants against these three enzymes. Interactions of the P1 side chain with amino acids that point into the S1 pocket appear to be critical for inhibitory activity. In summary, Tfm can be used to replace an isobutyl group and can affect the selectivity profile of a compound. These findings have implications for the design of novel bioactive molecules and synthetic mimics of natural compounds.  相似文献

Disorder is known to have a substantial impact on light transport in optical materials. In particular, when properly tuned, disorder can unveil optical properties that common, periodically patterned materials do not possess. In this paper, a method to realize disordered dielectric materials dubbed Lévy glasses, in which light transport is superdiffusive, is presented. The degree of superdiffusion is set by engineering the spatial inhomogeneity of the scatterer density in the material. A model that relates the microscopic parameters to the macroscopic transport properties of Lévy glasses is given and the signature of superdiffusion on the transmission profile in a slab configuration is shown experimentally.  相似文献

Bounded model checking of software using SMT solvers instead of SAT solvers   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
C bounded model checking (cbmc) has proved to be a successful approach to automatic software analysis. The key idea is to (i) build a propositional formula whose models correspond to program traces (of bounded length) that violate some given property and (ii) use state-of-the-art SAT solvers to check the resulting formulae for satisfiability. In this paper, we propose a generalisation of the cbmc approach on the basis of an encoding into richer (but still decidable) theories than propositional logic. We show that our approach may lead to considerably more compact formulae than those obtained with cbmc. We have built a prototype implementation of our technique that uses a satisfiability modulo theories (SMT) solver to solve the resulting formulae. Computer experiments indicate that our approach compares favourably with—and on some significant problems outperforms—cbmc.  相似文献

Blasting in geological bodies is an industrial process acting in an environment characterized by high uncertainties (natural joints, faults, voids, abrupt structural changes), which are transposed into the process parameters (e.g. energetic transfer to rock mass, hole deviations, misfires, vibrations, fly-rock, etc.). The approach to this problem searching for the “optimum” result can be ineffective. The geological environment is marked out by too many uncertainties, to have an “optimum” suitable to different applications. Researching for “Robustness” in a blast design gives rise to much more efficiency. Robustness is the capability of the system to behave constantly under varying conditions, without leading to unexpected results. Since the geology varies from site to site, setting a robust method can grant better results in varying environments, lowering the costs and increasing benefits and safety. Complexity Analysis (C.A.) is an innovative approach to systems. C.A. allows analyzing the Complexity of the Blast System and the criticality of each variable (drilling, charging and initiation parameters). The lower is the complexity, the more robust is the system, and the lower is the possibility of unexpected results. The paper presents the results obtained thanks to the C.A. approach in an underground gypsum quarry (Italy), exploited by conventional rooms and pillars method by drilling and blasting. The application of C.A. led to a reliable solution to reduce the charge per delay, hence reducing the impact of ground vibration on the surrounding structures. The analysis of the correlation degree between the variables allowed recognizing empirical laws as well.  相似文献

While facial coverings reduce the spread of SARS-CoV-2 by viral filtration, masks capable of viral inactivation by heating can provide a complementary method to limit transmission. Inspired by reverse-flow chemical reactors, we introduce a new virucidal face mask concept driven by the oscillatory flow of human breath. The governing heat and mass transport equations are solved to evaluate virus and CO2 transport. Given limits imposed by the kinetics of SARS-CoV-2 thermal inactivation, human breath, safety, and comfort, heated masks may inactivate SARS-CoV-2 to medical-grade sterility. We detail one design, with a volume of 300 ml at 90°C that achieves a 3-log reduction in viral load with minimal impedance within the mask mesh, with partition coefficient around 2. This is the first quantitative analysis of virucidal thermal inactivation within a protective face mask, and addresses a pressing need for new approaches for personal protective equipment during a global pandemic.  相似文献

Pheochromocytoma (Pheo) is a tumor derived from chromaffin cells. It can be studied using 18F-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA)—positron emission tomography (PET) due to its overexpression of L-type amino acid transporters (LAT1 and LAT2). The oncogenic pathways involved are still poorly understood. This study examined the relationship between 18F-DOPA-PET uptake and LAT1 expression, and we explored the role of miR-375 and putative target genes. A consecutive series of 58 Pheo patients were retrospectively analyzed, performing 18F-DOPA-PET in 32/58 patients. Real-time quantitative PCR was used to assess the expression of LAT1, LAT2, phenylethanolamine N-methyltransferase (PNMT), miR-375, and the major components of the Hippo and Wingless/Integrated pathways. Principal germline mutations associated with hereditary Pheo were also studied. Pheo tissues had significantly higher LAT1, LAT2, and PNMT mRNA levels than normal adrenal tissues. MiR-375 was strongly overexpressed. Yes-associated protein 1 and tankyrase 1 were upregulated, while beta-catenin, axin2, monocarboxylate transporter 8, and Frizzled 8 were downregulated. A positive relationship was found between 18F-DOPA-PET SUV mean and LAT1 gene expression and for 24 h-urinary norepinephrine and LAT1. This is the first experimental evidence of 18F-DOPA uptake correlating with LAT1 overexpression. We also demonstrated miR-375 overexpression and downregulated (Wnt) signaling and identified the Hippo pathway as a new potentially oncogenic feature of Pheo.  相似文献
