Active targeting using biological ligands has emerged as a novel strategy for the targeted delivery of diagnostic agents to tumor cells. Conjugating functional targeting moieties with diagnostic probes can increase their accumulation in tumor cells and tissues, enhancing signal detection and, thus, the sensitivity of diagnosis. Due to their small size, ease of chemical synthesis and site-specific modification, high tissue penetration, low immunogenicity, rapid blood clearance, low cost, and biosafety, peptides offer several advantages over antibodies and proteins in diagnostic applications. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is one of the most promising cancer biomarkers for actively targeting diagnostic and therapeutic agents to tumor cells due to its active involvement and overexpression in various cancers. Several peptides for EGFR-targeting have been identified in the last decades, which have been obtained by multiple means including derivation from natural proteins, phage display screening, positional scanning synthetic combinatorial library, and in silico screening. Many studies have used these peptides as a targeting moiety for diagnosing different cancers in vitro, in vivo, and in clinical trials. This review summarizes the progress of EGFR-targeting peptide-based assays in the molecular diagnosis of cancer.  相似文献

Agricultural wastes as lignocellulosic biomasses are known as the major resources of bioenergy. These valuable resources can be converted into useful environmental friendly fuels and chemicals. Wheat straw, walnut shell and almond shell are the main agricultural wastes in Kurdistan province, Iran. This study investigates the hydrogen-rich gas production via gasification of these biomasses in supercritical water media. Experiments were performed first, in the base case condition using a stainless steel batch micro reactor system. Then, the effect of reaction time on the total gas yield and yield of hydrogen, were investigated. It was seen that the total gas yields and gasification efficiencies increased by increasing the reaction time to 30 min and then the total gas yield was approximately remained constant. Among three used feed stocks, wheat straw with higher amount of cellulose and lower amount of lignin had the highest total gas and hydrogen yields in shorter reaction times. The maximum hydrogen yields of 7.25, 4.1 and 4.63 mmol per gram of wheat straw, almond shell and walnut shell occurred at 10, 15 and 20 min of reaction time, respectively.  相似文献

Ceramic lead magnesium niobate–lead titanate ((1-x)PMN-xPT) of different compositions has been prepared by the columbite precursor method. This study discusses compositions ranging from 0.94PMN–0.06PT to 0.60PM–N0.40PT, focusing on two areas of the (1-x)PMNxPT system: compositions that exhibit electrostrictive behavior, and those that show piezoelectric behavior. In electrostrictive compositions where x is in the range of 0.06–0.20, the dielectric constant and electromechanical coupling factor dependencies on the bias field are evaluated. The optimal electromechanical properties are obtained with the composition 0.82PMN–0.18PT, measured at temperature T = Tm (the temperature of maximum dielectric constant) = 80°C and with a dc bias of 5 kV/cm. X–ray diffractometry is used to show that the (1-x)PMN-xPT system has a compositionally wide two–phase region and that 0.655PMN–0.345PT is the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) composition. Electromechanical property evaluation shows that the optimal piezoelectric properties (piezoelectric charge coefficient ( d33 ) value of 720 pC/N, dielectric constant ( K ) value of 5400, and electromechanical planar and thickness coupling coefficient ( kp and kt , respectively) values of 62% and 46%, respectively) are obtained at the MPB composition.  相似文献

Piezoelectric ceramic/polymer composites were made by a fused deposition (FD) technique, which is a solid-freeform fabrication (or layered manufacturing) technique where three-dimensional (3-D) objects are built layer by layer from a computer-aided design (CAD) file on a computer-controlled fixtureless platform. Indirect and direct FD methods were used to fabricate lead zirconate titanate (PZT)/polymer composites. For the indirect method, a CAD file for the negative image of the final part was created. A polymer mold was made via FD using a thermoplastic filament, and composite formation was completed via a lost mold technique. In the direct FD method, a thermoplastic polymeric filament that was filled with 50–55 vol% of PZT powder was used to form a positive image of the desired structure. Three-dimensional honeycomb ("3-D honeycomb") composites and "ladder" composites with 3-3 connectivity, which were formed via the FD technique, showed excellent electromechanical properties for transducer applications. In addition, the FD technique showed the ability to form composites with controlled phase periodicity, various volume fractions, and a variety of microstructures and macrostructures that are not possible with traditional composite-forming techniques.  相似文献

Thermally induced torsional and tensile actuators based on twisted polymeric fibers have opened new opportunities for the application of artificial muscles. These newly developed actuators show significant torsional deformations when subjected to temperature changes, and this torsional actuation is the defining mechanism for tensile actuation of twisted and coiled fibers. To date it has been found that these actuators require multiple heat/cool cycles (referred to as “training” cycles) prior to obtaining a fully reversible actuation response. Herein, the effect of annealing conditions applied to twisted nylon 6 monofilament is investigated and it is shown that annealing at 200 °C eliminates the need for the training cycles. Furthermore, the effect of an applied external torque on the torsional actuation is also investigated and torsional creep is shown to be affected by the temperature and load. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Coelectrospinning/netting or fabrication of well‐controlled nanofibers/net (NFN) within core–shell hexadecane (HD)–polyurethane (PU) nanofiber membranes is an effective strategy to improve nanostructure morphology, mechanical properties, and performance characteristics. Three types of surfactants were separately added to PU solutions in order to make controlled NFN layers within membrane structures. The experimental results indicated that the NFN layers composed of core–shell nanowires with a diameter of 20–40 nm increased significantly when a cationic surfactant was added. Also, the results confirmed that the NFN structure caused a significant increase in strength and a noticeable decrease in elongation of the membranes. The performance characteristics of the membranes, such as water vapor transmission rate and hydrostatic pressure, were not affected significantly by the addition of the cationic surfactant. The results confirmed that the mechanical properties and morphology of the core–shell HD‐PU nanofiber membranes could be controlled and tuned by the amount and type of surfactant. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A one-dimensional non-isothermal steady state model was developed to simulate the performance of three-reactor configurations for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane (ODHE) to ethylene. These configurations consist of side feeding reactor (SFR), conventional fixed bed reactor (CFBR) and membrane reactor (MR). The performance of these reactors was compared in the terms of C2H6 conversion, C2H4 and CO2 selectivity and temperature profiles. The use of sectional air injections on the wall of SFR with a limited number of injection points showed that the performance of reactor significantly improves and optimum pattern of oxygen consumption is also obtained. Moreover, our SFR with a liquid coolant medium operates in an effectively controlled temperature profile that is comparable with that of the MR, which is cooled by a coolant stream of air. Hence, an enhancement in the level of selectivity is obtained for the SFR configuration. Consequently, the side feeding procedure can decrease the high operating temperature problem and low ethylene selectivity in the ODHE process. According to obtained results, the SFR would be a proper alternative for both the MR and CFBR.  相似文献

The effect of air temperature (AT) and slice thickness (ST) on the quality and drying kinetics of tomato slices were studied. The drying period of tomato slices to reach the moisture content of 15% (wb) ranged from 2.6 to 18.7 h. The water diffusivity, activation energy, and resistance to diffusion ranged from 1.4 × 10?10 to 2.8 × 10?9 m2/s, 21.25 to 23.4 kJ/mol, and from 939 to 4590 m2 s/kg, respectively. Drying had a significant effect on ascorbic acid, soluble solid, acidity, and pH (P = 0.01). The ascorbic acid degradation was greatly influenced by ST. The results show that time-temperature superposition technique (TTST) was very efficient in the modeling of the drying process. The proposed TTST provides a novel alternative in curve-fitting exercise of drying data. Neural networks also showed favorable performance in estimating the drying functions.  相似文献
