A general impulse excitation technique is developed for exact two-dimensional analyses of electric faults. The exact impulse response function is derived and used to determine analytically the distribution of the fault current in the plasma core for the three specific cases: (1) short circuit of one load, (2) one load rejection, and (3) short circuit between two adjacent electrodes. The obtained fault currents are also presented in three dimensional plots for clarity. The results show that the faults hardly affect the core of the plasma, and that the perturbation currents flow in the thin boundary layers adjacent to the electrodes.  相似文献

The fabrication and high temperature performance of low thermal expansion bimetallic lattices composed of Co-base and Nb-base alloys have been investigated. A 2D sheet lattice with a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) lower than the constituent materials of construction was designed for thermal cycling to 1000 °C with the use of elastic-plastic finite element analyses. The low CTE lattice consisted of a continuous network of the Nb-base alloy C-103 with inserts of high CTE Co-base alloy Haynes 188. A new coating approach wherein submicron alumina particles were incorporated into (Nb, Cr, Fe) silicide coatings was employed for oxidation protection of the Nb-base alloy. Thermal gravimetric analysis results indicate that the addition of submicron alumina particles reduced the oxidative mass gain by a factor of four during thermal cycling, increasing lifetime. Bimetallic cells with net expansion of 6 × 10−6/°C and 1 × 10−6/°C at 1000 °C were demonstrated and their measured thermal expansion characteristics were consistent with analytical models and finite element analysis predictions.  相似文献

During the last few years, several models have been proposed for the calculation of green roof thermal behavior, but the validation studies of such models are lacking a comprehensive set of highly accurate data. In this study, an experimental laboratory setup was used to create different environmental conditions and to measure sensible heat fluxes to/from a vegetated roof assembly. This experimental setup has been successfully used for different wind velocities (0–3 m/s) to create free and forced convection conditions around green roof tested samples. Furthermore, our study proposed a “basic model” for calculations of the convective heat transfer at green roof assemblies, which is a modified version of the Newton’s cooling law, calibrated and then validated with different sets of data. For forced convection flow regimes, the proposed “basic model” resulted in RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) of 11 W/m2 and R2 value of 0.81. Similarly, the model provided RMSE of 6.6 W/m2 and R2 of 0.90 for sensible heat fluxes with free convection conditions. In the future, this model will be used in on-site experimental studies to understand its performance under wind conditions that exhibit a much wider range than the studied velocity range near the leaf canopy.  相似文献

A new chiral stationary phase for ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography (UHPLC) applications was prepared by covalent attachment of the Whelk-O1 selector to spherical, high-surface-area 1.7-μm porous silica particles. Columns of varying dimensions (lengths of 50, 75, 100, and 150 mm and internal diameters of 3.0 or 4.6 mm) were packed and characterized in terms of permeability, efficiency, retention, and enantioselectivity, using both organic and water-rich mobile phases. A conventional HPLC Whelk-O1 column based on 5.0-μm porous silica particles and packed in a 250 mm × 4.6 mm column was used as a reference. Van Deemter curves, generated with low-molecular-weight solutes on a 100 mm × 4.6 mm column packed with the 1.7-μm particles, showed H(min) (μm) and μ(opt) (mm/s) values of 4.10 and 5.22 under normal-phase and 3.74 and 4.34 under reversed-phase elution conditions. The flat C term of the van Deemter curves observed with the 1.7-μm particles allowed the use of higher-than-optimal flow rates without significant efficiency loss. Kinetic plots constructed from van Deemter data confirmed the ability of the column packed with the 1.7-μm particles to afford subminute separations with good efficiency and its superior performances in the high-speed regime, compared to the column packed with 5.0-μm particles. Resolutions in the time scale of seconds were obtained using a 50-mm-long column in the normal phase or polar organic mode. The intrinsic kinetic performances of 1.7-μm silica particles are retained in the Whelk-O1 chiral stationary phase, clearly demonstrating the potentials of enantioselective UHPLC in terms of high speed, throughput, and resolution.  相似文献

ZrO2, Y2O3, and rare earth oxides with related structures are attractive candidates for dispersion strengthening of copper alloys but pose significant processing challenges owing to the low solubility of the oxide-forming elements in Cu. It is shown that the problems may be circumvented by a synthesis approach coupling rapid solidification and internal oxidation, followed by standard powder metallurgy consolidation. Cu-Zr and Cu-Y alloys were melt spun into ribbons ∼-50-to 150-Μm thick and internally oxidized at 1023 to 1223 K to yield ∼1 vol pct of ZrO2 or Y2O3 particles ranging in size from 5 nm up to ∼3150 nm. The coarser oxides result from direct oxidation of the intermetallic segregate, whereas the finer ones are generated by a dissolution-reprecipitation process. The relative proportions of fine and coarse oxides and the homogeneity of the distribution are related to segregation scale in the melt-spun ribbon and the relative permeabilities of oxygen and the oxidizable element in the alloy, which depend on the internal oxidation temperature. The oxide dispersoids were mostly cubic zirconia or cubic yttria and exhibited predominantly cube-on-cube orientation relationships with the matrix. Analysis of particle shapes revealed that the dominant interfaces are of the type {001}OX ∥ {001}Cu and {1ˉ11}OX ∥ {1ˉ11}Cu and could be explained by image charge interaction concepts. Extrusion produced an elongated grain structure but no significant changes in the oxide distribution. MICHAEL S. Induction of mucosal tolerance by inhalation of soluble peptides with defined T cell epitopes is receiving much attention as a means of specifically down-regulating pathogenic T cell reactivities in autoimmune and allergic disorders. Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) induced in the Lewis rat by immunization with myelin basic protein (MBP) and Freund's adjuvant (CFA) is mediated by CD4+ T cells specific for the MBP amino acid sequences 68-86 and 87-99. To further define the principles of nasal tolerance induction, we generated three different MBP peptides (MBP 68-86, 87-99 and the non-encephalitogenic peptide 110-128), and evaluated whether their nasal administration on day -11, -10, -9, -8 and -7 prior to immunization with guinea pig MBP (gp-MBP) + CFA confers protection to Lewis rat EAE. Protection was achieved with the encephalitogenic peptides MBP 68-86 and 87-99, MBP 68-86 being more potent, but not with MBP 110-128. Neither MBP 68-86 nor 87-99 at doses used conferred complete protection to gp-MBP-induced EAE. In contrast, nasal administration of a mixture of MBP 68-86 and 87-99 completely blocked gp-MBP-induced EAE even at lower dosage compared to that being used for individual peptides. Rats tolerized with MBP 68-86 + 87-99 nasally showed decreased T cell responses to MBP reflected by lymphocyte proliferation and IFN-gamma ELISPOT assays. Rats tolerized with MBP 68-86 + 87-99 also had abrogated MBP-reactive IFN-gamma and tumor necrosis factor-alpha mRNA expression in lymph node cells compared to rats receiving MBP 110-128 nasally, while similar low levels of MBP-reactive transforming growth factor-beta and IL-4 mRNA expressing cells were observed in the two groups. Nasal administration of MBP 68-86 + 87-99 only slightly inhibited guinea pig spinal cord homogenate-induced EAE, and passive transfer of spleen mononuclear cells from MBP 68-86 + 87-99-tolerized rats did not protect na?ve rats from EAE. Finally, we show that nasal administration of MBP 68-86 + 87-99 can reverse ongoing EAE induced with gp-MBP, although higher doses are required compared to the dosage needed for prevention. In conclusion, nasal administration of encephalitogenic MBP peptides can induce antigen-specific T cell tolerance and confer incomplete protection to gp-MBP-induced EAE, and MBP 68-86 and 87-99 have synergistic effects. Non-regulatory mechanisms are proposed to be responsible for tolerance development after nasal peptide administration.  相似文献

In the pharmaceutical industry, the main components in determining physician-detailing plans are strategic physician-population segmentation, data driven sales-response functions of physician prescribing behavior, and an optimization algorithm for sales call allocation. Using data mining technology in neural networks coupled with non-linear programming, this paper proposes an expert system to effectively allocate sales-force resources for single-product physician-detailing planning. The result shows that this adaptive and easy-to-implement system helps decision makers to outperform the standard industry practice1 by 10% in profit gain.  相似文献

The effect of microstructure on creep resistance of the low carbon chromium steel X20CrMoV121 after 100‐hours of static‐load test at a temperature of 580 °C and constant stress of 170 MPa was investigated. The specimens for the experiments were extracted from steam pipes of a steam power plant and heat treated. The effect of isothermal annealing on the microstructure and hardness as well as the kinetics of the precipitation of the carbide particles were determined.  相似文献
