Background
Results of epidemiological studies have suggested that consumption of green tea could lower the risk of type 2 diabetes. Intervention studies show that green tea may decrease blood glucose levels, and also increase satiety. Radiance and temperature profiles for the first time have been measured along the mesa side of Gunn diode samples, using an infrared microscope with a spatial resolution of 2.5 mum. Bulk heat generation occurs in the transit region, but measurements have shown a small amount of additional ohmic heating in the substrate layer, which will influence the maximum temperature of the device. The presented thermal measurements have been used to improve the existing thermal finite-element model of the diode. The measurements also represent an alternative method to obtain a more accurate temperature of the diode top contact without coating the sample with a high emissivity layer. 相似文献

Orthogonal rotation-invariant moments (ORIMs), such as Zernike moments, are introduced and defined on a continuous unit disk and have been proven powerful tools in optics applications. These moments have also been digitized for applications in digital image processing. Unfortunately, digitization compromises the orthogonality of the moments and, therefore, digital ORIMs are incapable of representing subtle details in images and cannot accurately reconstruct images. Typical approaches to alleviate the digitization artifact can be divided into two categories: 1) careful selection of a set of pixels as close approximation to the unit disk and using numerical integration to determine the ORIM values, and 2) representing pixels using circular shapes such that they resemble that of the unit disk and then calculating ORIMs in polar space. These improvements still fall short of preserving the orthogonality of the ORIMs. In this paper, in contrast to the previous methods, we propose a different approach of using numerical optimization techniques to improve the orthogonality. We prove that with the improved orthogonality, image reconstruction becomes more accurate. Our simulation results also show that the optimized digital ORIMs can accurately reconstruct images and can represent subtle image details. 相似文献

The synthesis and decomposition of hexamethylene triperoxide diamine (HMTD) were studied. Mechanisms were proposed based on isotopic labeling and mass spectral interpretation of both condensed phase products and head‐space products. Formation of HMTD from hexamine appeared to proceed from dissociated hexamine as evident from scrambling of the 15N label when synthesis was carried out with equal molar labeled/unlabeled hexamine. Decomposition of HMTD was considered with additives and in the presence and absence of moisture. In addition to mass spectral interpretation, density functional theory (DFT) was used to calculate energy differences of transition states and the entropies of intermediates along different possible decomposition pathways. HMTD is destabilized by water and citric acid making purification following initial synthesis essential in order to avoid unanticipated violent reaction. 相似文献

Acid catalyzes the formation of triacetone triperoxide (TATP) from acetone and hydrogen peroxide, but acid also destroys TATP, and, under certain conditions, converts TATP to diacetone diperoxide (DADP). Addition of strong acids to TATP can cause an explosive reaction, while reaction with dilute acid reduces the decomposition rate so drastically that gentle destruction of TATP is impractical. However, combined use of dilute acid with slightly solvated TATP made gentle destruction of TATP feasible. Variables including acid type, concentration, solvent and ratios thereof have been explored, along with kinetics, in an attempt to provide a field‐safe technique for gently destroying this homemade primary explosive. The preferred method is moistening TATP with an alcoholic solution (aqueous methanol, ethanol, or iso‐propanol) followed by addition of 36 wt‐% hydrochloric acid. Preliminary experiments have shown the technique to be safe and effective for destruction of hexamethylene triperoxide diamine (HMTD), as well. 相似文献

We discuss phase retrieval and the correction of images for aberrations, in particular defocus and spherical aberration, in high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. Non-interferometric phase retrieval requires at least two intensity measurements in different planes. Vortices in the phase may occur in the image plane or the other planes involved in the phase retrieval. We discuss the performance of various methods of phase retrieval in that case. After retrieval of the phase, the aberrations can be corrected in the Fraunhofer diffraction space (the wave function in the diffraction space is related to that in the image space by a Fourier transform). The aberration-corrected image is obtained from the aberration-corrected wave function in the diffraction plane by inverse Fourier transformation. 相似文献

This study determined the rate and associated factors of red light infringement among urban commuter cyclists. A cross-sectional observational study was conducted using a covert video camera to record cyclists at 10 sites across metropolitan Melbourne, Australia from October 2008 to April 2009. In total, 4225 cyclists faced a red light and 6.9% were non-compliant. The main predictive factor for infringement was direction of travel, cyclists turning left (traffic travels on the left-side in Australia) had 28.3 times the relative odds of infringement compared to cyclists who continued straight through the intersection. Presence of other road users had a deterrent effect with the odds of infringement lower when a vehicle travelling in the same direction was present (OR = 0.39, 95% CI 0.28–0.53) or when other cyclists were present (OR = 0.26, 95% CI 0.19–0.36). Findings suggest that some cyclists do not perceive turning left against a red signal to be unsafe and the opportunity to ride through the red light during low cross traffic times influences the likelihood of infringement. 相似文献
