Electronics that are capable of destroying themselves, on demand and in a harmless way, might provide the ultimate form of data security. This paper presents materials and device architectures for triggered destruction of conventional microelectronic systems by means of microfluidic chemical etching of the constituent materials, including silicon, silicon dioxide, and metals (e.g., aluminum). Demonstrations in an array of home‐built metal‐oxide‐semiconductor field‐effect transistors that exploit ultrathin sheets of monocrystalline silicon and in radio‐frequency identification devices illustrate the utility of the approaches.  相似文献

A class of thin, lightweight, flexible, near‐field communication (NFC) devices with ultraminiaturized format is introduced, and systematic investigations of the mechanics, radio frequency characteristics, and materials aspects associated with their optimized construction are presented. These systems allow advantages in mechanical strength, placement versatility, and minimized interfacial stresses compared to other NFC technologies and wearable electronics. Detailed experimental studies and theoretical modeling of the mechanical and electromagnetic properties of these systems establish understanding of the key design considerations. These concepts can apply to many other types of wireless communication systems including biosensors and electronic implants.  相似文献

Oxygen vacancies (OVs) dominate the physical and chemical properties of metal oxides, which play crucial roles in the various fields of applications. Density functional theory calculations show the introduction of OVs in TiO2(B) gives rise to better electrical conductivity and lower energy barrier of sodiation. Here, OVs evoked blue TiO2(B) (termed as B‐TiO2(B)) nanobelts are successfully designed upon the basis of electronically coupled conductive polymers to TiO2, which is confirmed by electron paramagnetic resonance and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The superiorities of OVs with the aid of carbon encapsulation lead to higher capacity (210.5 mAh g?1 (B‐TiO2(B)) vs 102.7 mAh g?1 (W‐TiO2(B)) at 0.5 C) and remarkable long‐term cyclability (the retention of 94.4% at a high rate of 10 C after 5000 times). In situ X‐ray diffractometer analysis spectra also confirm that an enlarged interlayer spacing stimulated by OVs is beneficial to accommodate insertion and removal of sodium ions to accelerate storage kinetics and preserve its original crystal structure. The work highlights that injecting OVs into metal oxides along with carbon coating is an effective strategy for improving capacity and cyclability performances in other metal oxide based electrochemical energy systems.  相似文献

Infective endocarditis in heroin addicts has been reported to have a mortality as high as 85% and reports have varied widely regarding predominant valvular involvement and infecting microorganisms. A retrspective study was done and 61 cases of heroin-associated infective endocarditis were identified at Freedmen's Hospital and the District of Columbia General Hospital, Washington, DC between January 1969 and January 1973. Our results indicate that staphylococcal infection of the tricuspid valve has a much higher incidence in this population than has generally been believed and that it is the predominant presentation of infective endocarditis in these patients. The outcome of patients in our series compares favorably with previous reports and suggests that early diagnosis and prompt institution of appropriate antimicrobial therapy are important and may lead to improved survival in addicts with tricuspid endocarditis.  相似文献

Chlorisondamine is a charged molecule that acts as long-acting nicotinic antagonist in many species, including pigeon. Evidence indicates that, despite the charged nature of chlorisondamine, it blocks some central effects of nicotine. The present study examined the time course of chlorisondamine's blockade of nicotine-induced c-fos expression in the pigeon brain. Chlorisondamine's central blockade was examined from 1 hr to 28 days prior to nicotine administration. Nicotine stimulated increases in c-fos mRNA in the hippocampus, hyperstriatum accessorium, hyperstriatum ventrale, nucleus accumbens, bulbus olfactorius, paleostriatum augmentatum, and stratum griseum et fibrosum superficiale. Nicotinic receptors labeled by [(125)I]-epibatidine were not always found in the same regions as nicotine-induced increases in c-fos expression. Acute chlorisondamine increased the level of c-fos mRNA in the cerebellum, hippocampus, hyperstriatum accessorium, locus parolfactorius, nucleus accumbens, tectum opticum, paleostriatum augmentatum, and stratum griseum et fibrosum superficiale but had no effect on its own 24 hr after administration. Chlorisondamine blocked nicotine-induced increases in c-fos RNA for 4 days in the nucleus accumbens, a week in the bulbus olfactorius, and 2 weeks in the stratum griseum et fibrosum superficiale. The time course of chlorisondamine's blockade of nicotine-induced c-fos expression is consistent with the time course of the ability of chlorisondamine to block behavioral and physiological responses to nicotine.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: Arrowtooth flounder soluble protein powder (AFSP) and arrowtooth flounder insoluble protein powder (AFISP) were evaluated for their functional, nutritional, and rheological properties. AFSP and AFISP contained 80% and 79% protein and 5.9% and 14.9% fat, respectively. Yield of AFSP (8.6%) was less than AFISP (13.1%). AFSP and AFISP had desirable essential amino acid and mineral contents. Emulsion stability of AFSP was greater than AFISP. Fat and water absorptions (mL/g protein) were 5.2 and 1.8 for AFSP, respectively, and 3.3 and 4.2 for AFISP Mayonnaises made from AFSP had greater emulsion stability than mayonnaise made from AFISP. Mayonnaises from both AFSP and AFISP possessed pseudoplastic and viscoelastic characteristics.  相似文献

Michael additions of the secondary diamines N,N′-dimethyl-1,6-hexanediamine ( 14 ) or piperazine to the electrophilic carbon–carbon double bonds of N,N′-bismaleimido-4,4′-diphenylmethane ( 2 ) or N,N′-bismaleimido-1,8-octane ( 4 ) afford four unusual, high-molecular-weight (ηinh = 0.49–2.16 dL/g) polyimides ( 10 – 13 ). The most interesting of these, polymer 12 (the product of 4 and 14 ), is a tough elastomeric resin with a glass transition temperature (Tg) near 0°C; in contrast, 10, 11, and 13 exhibit Tg >86°C. Freshly prepared 12 is soluble and thermoplastic ( 12 is readily compression molded at 110°C), but the bulk polymer crosslinks slowly under ambient laboratory conditions and eventually (48 days) becomes insoluble, while 10, 11, and 13 remain soluble indefinitely. Along with further comparisons of the properties of 10 – 13 , details of the synthesis and characterization of these new polyimides are described. Also discussed are reactions of bismaleimide 2 with 1,6-diaminohexane, which unlike the formation of linear 10 – 13 , generate crosslinked, insoluble products.  相似文献

In two experiments, dairy heifers were offered a basal diet of ground dried grass cubes and flaked maize. In Experiment 1, the diet contained equal amounts of these components whereas, in Experiment 2, the proportions were varied from all-grass to equal amounts of grass and flaked maize. Before and after the main part of each experiment, the animals were offered a diet containing hay, molassed sugar beet pulp and barleybased concentrates. Compared to this diet, the grass cubes-flaked maize diet reduced the fat content of the milk and increased the crude protein content. The proportions of all the milk fatty acids up to 18:0 were reduced and those of 18:1, 18:2 and 18:3 were increased. In Experiment 1, the basal diet of grass cubes and flaked maize was supplemented with 180 and 360 g day?1 soya bean oil given as crushed, unextracted soya beans or with 180 g day?1 soya bean oil given as a formaldehyde-treated caseinoil preparation but none of these supplements had any effect on the composition of the milk. In Experiment 2, the crude protein content of the milk increased as the proportion of flaked maize in the diet was increased. Otherwise, there were no differences between the different diets.  相似文献
