La0.85Sr0.15Ga0.8Mg0.2O3?δ pellets obtained by the polymeric organic complex solution method, isostatic pressing and sintering at 1350 °C have been electrical and mechanically studied. Electrical measurements evidenced reasonable ionic conductivities (0.01 S cm?1 at 800 °C), which were comparable to those reported for the La1?xSrxGa1?yMgyO3?δ prepared by other synthesis methods. On the other hand, the mechanical properties (elastic modulus, E and hardness, H) have been determined at micro/nanometric scale using the instrumented indentation technique. While E did not vary significantly with the increasing indentation depth (h), H values strongly decreased with the indentation depth up to 500 nm. For h > 500 nm, both mechanical properties remained almost constant, thus obtaining E = 271 ± 6 GPa and H = 13.2 ± 0.4 GPa. Finally, the residual imprints and fracture mechanisms have been observed by atomic force microscopy (AFM).  相似文献

Graphene-supported monometallic (Pt) and bimetallic (CuPt3) cubic nanocatalysts have been investigated as new positive electrode materials for improving the VO2+/VO2+ redox process occurring in the vanadium redox flow batteries (VRB). High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) have been employed to characterize the electrodes. The presence of the CuPt3 nanocubes on graphene conferred higher electrocatalytic activity due to the much higher electroactive area compared to that obtained with the Pt nanoparticles. The electrochemical surface area of the nano-(CuPt3)-decorated graphene electrode was 105% higher compared to non-decorated graphene, being then a promising alternative for improving the VRB.  相似文献

In this work, we present the effects of salts on sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate micellization and on the interfacial performance of a sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate–heptane–brine system at optimum formulation, i.e., hydrophilic–lipophilic deviation (HLD) = 0. In order to do that, interfacial tension and dilational interfacial rheology properties of surfactant–heptane–water systems at optimum formulation are measured using an interfacial spinning drop tensiometer with an oscillating velocity, which can accurately measure interfacial rheology properties at both low and ultralow interfacial tensions. The brines used contain one of the following salts: MgCl2, CaCl2, NaCl, NH4Cl, NaNO3, CH3COONa, or Na2SO4. We performed a one-dimensional salinity scan with each of these salts to achieve an optimum formulation. In relation to the Hofmeister series, we found that, at optimum formulation, systems with chaotropic ions (NH4+, NO3) present interfaces with ultralow interfacial tensions, very low dilational modulus, and a low phase angle, whereas kosmotropic ions (Mg2+, Ca2+, SO4−2) generate high interfacial tension and high rigidity monolayers. Intermediate ions in the Hofmeister series (Na+, CH3COO, Cl) present interfaces with intermediate properties. Furthermore, according to the Hofmeister series, interfaces can be respectively ordered from higher to lower rigidity for surfactant counterions Mg2+ > Ca2+ > Na+ > NH4+ and coions SO42− > CH3COO > Cl > NO3, which correspond to a salting-out (highest rigidity) and salting-in (lowest rigidity) effect. We observed that counterions have a more significant effect on surfactant–oil–water system properties than those that act as coions.  相似文献

The current study compares the antibacterial activity of zinc oxide nanostructures (neZnO). For this purpose, two bacterial strains, Escherichia coli (ATCC 4157) and Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 29213) were challenged in room light conditions with the aforementioned materials. Colloidal and hydrothermal methods were used to obtain the quasi-round and quasi-diamond platelet-shape nanostructures. Thus, the oxygen vacancy (VO) effects on the surface of neZnO are also considered to assess its effects on antibacterial activity. The neZnO characterization was achieved by X-ray diffraction (XRD), a selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and Raman spectroscopy. The microstructural effects were monitored by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Furthermore, optical absorption ultraviolet visible spectrophotometry (UV-Vis) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses complement the physical characterization of these nanostructures; neZnO caused 50 % inhibition (IC50) at concentrations from 0.064 to 0.072 mg/mL for S. aureus and from 0.083 to 0.104 mg/mL for E. coli, indicating an increase in activity against S. aureus compared to E. coli. Consequently, quasi-diamond platelet-shaped nanostructures (average particle size of 377.6±10 nm) showed enhanced antibacterial activity compared to quasi-round agglomerated particles (average size of 442.8±12 nm), regardless of Vo presence or absence.  相似文献

Early colonization by Zyginidia scutellaris leafhoppers might be a key factor in the attraction and settling of generalist predators, such as Orius spp., in maize fields. In this paper, we aimed to determine whether our observations of early season increases in field populations of Orius spp. reflect a specific attraction to Z. scutellaris-induced maize volatiles, and how the responses of Orius predators to herbivore-induced volatiles (HIPVs) might be affected by previous experiences on plants infested by herbivorous prey. Therefore, we examined the innate and learned preferences of Orius majusculus toward volatiles from maize plants attacked by three potential herbivores with different feeding strategies: the leafhopper Z. scutellaris (mesophyll feeder), the lepidopteran Spodoptera littoralis (chewer), and another leafhopper Dalbulus maidis (phloem feeder). In addition, we examined the volatile profiles emitted by maize plants infested by the three herbivores. Our results show that predators exhibit a strong innate attraction to volatiles from maize plants infested with Z. scutellaris or S. littoralis. Previous predation experience in the presence of HIPVs influences the predator’s odor preferences. The innate preference for plants with cell or tissue damage may be explained by these plants releasing far more volatiles than plants infested by the phloem-sucking D. maidis. However, a predation experience on D. maidis-infested plants increased the preference for D. maidis-induced maize volatiles. After O. majusculus experienced L3-L4 larvae (too large to serve as prey) on S. littoralis-infested plants, they showed reduced attraction toward these plants and an increased attraction toward D. maidis-infested plants. When offered young larvae of S. littoralis, which are more suitable prey, preference toward HIPVs was similar to that of naive individuals. The HIPVs from plants infested by herbivores with distinctly different feeding strategies showed distinguishable quantitative differences in (Z)-3-hexenal, (E)-2-hexenal, and methyl salicylate. These compounds might serve as reliable indicators of prey presence and identity for the predator. Our results support the idea that feeding by Z. scutellaris results in the emission of maize’s HIPVs that initially recruit Orius spp. into maize fields.  相似文献

A leading cause of death in western countries is sudden cardiac death, and can be associated with genetic disease. Next-generation sequencing has allowed thorough analysis of genes associated with this entity, including, most recently, titin. We aimed to identify potentially pathogenic genetic variants in titin. A total of 1126 samples were analyzed using a custom sequencing panel including major genes related to sudden cardiac death. Our cohort was divided into three groups: 432 cases from patients with cardiomyopathies, 130 cases from patients with channelopathies, and 564 post-mortem samples from individuals showing anatomical healthy hearts and non-conclusive causes of death after comprehensive autopsy. None of the patients included had definite pathogenic variants in the genes analyzed by our custom cardio-panel. Retrospective analysis comparing the in-house database and available public databases also was performed. We identified 554 rare variants in titin, 282 of which were novel. Seven were previously reported as pathogenic. Of these 554 variants, 493 were missense variants, 233 of which were novel. Of all variants identified, 399 were unique and 155 were identified at least twice. No definite pathogenic variants were identified in any of genes analyzed. We identified rare, mostly novel, titin variants that seem to play a potentially pathogenic role in sudden cardiac death. Additional studies should be performed to clarify the role of these variants in sudden cardiac death.  相似文献

G‐quadruplexes and i‐motifs are tetraplex structures present in telomeres and the promoter regions of oncogenes. The possibility of producing nanodevices with pH‐sensitive functions has triggered interest in modified oligonucleotides with improved structural properties. We synthesized C‐rich oligonucleotides carrying conformationally restricted (2′S)‐2′‐deoxy‐2′‐C‐methyl‐cytidine units. The effect of this modified nucleoside on the stability of intramolecular i‐motifs from the vertebrate telomere was investigated by UV, CD, and NMR spectroscopy. The replacement of selected positions of the C‐core with C‐modified residues induced the formation of stable intercalated tetraplexes at near‐neutral pH. This study demonstrates the possibility of enhancing the stability of the i‐motif by chemical modification.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This paper reviews the results obtained by studying the dual-temperature ion-exchange fractionation (DTIXF) technique. The DTIXF is based on the use of different affinity at different temperatures of ion exchangers towards ions to be separated. This technique allows to design absolutely reagentless and, as a result, wasteless fractionation technology. The review considers the temperature dependencies of selectivity of commercially available ion-exchange (LX) resins towards components of ionic mixtures of different complexity starting from binary model systems up to naturally existing nonacomponent effluents. A novel approach for predicting the temperature sensitivity of a given LX system is presented and discussed. The same approach has been shown to be applicable for the design of IX resins with temperature-dependent selectivity. The paper also reports the results obtained in the practical application of DTIXF technique for concentration of magnesium from seawater and copper from acidic mine waters. The flowsheets of DTLXF processes are proposed and discussed.  相似文献
