The rheology of Al-30Si-5Cu and Al-30Si-5Cu-2Mg spray-formed alloys has been characterized after holding at various times and temperatures, using semisolid rapid compression to obtain load-displacement curves. Microstructures were examined after partial remelting and compression in an attempt to understand the flow behavior. The initial resistance to flow generally increased with holding time at temperature. This increase was attributed to the increased strength of a three-dimensional (3-D) solid silicon network present in these alloys in the semisolid state, with the initial resistance to flow smaller in the magnesium-containing alloys. With increased temperature, the initial resistance decreased due to increased liquid content and grain spheroidization. The viscosity vs shear rate response was studied using the approach of Laxmanan and Flemings. The materials shear thinned rapidly during the test conditions, in which the shear rate rapidly increased from approximately 2.5 to 92 s−1. The results were fitted to a power-law model, and the viscosities showed a drop of approximately two to four orders of magnitude when extrapolated to a shear rate of 1000 s−1 (a typical value in actual component manufacture). The rapid compression test, which is close to conditions present in component manufacture, was shown to have more in common with a shear rate jump experiment, rather than steady-state viscometry.  相似文献

With the wide spread utilization of biometric identification systems, establishing the authenticity of biometric data itself has emerged as an important research issue. The fact that biometric data is not replaceable and is not secret, combined with the existence of several types of attacks that are possible in a biometric system, make the issue of security/integrity of biometric data extremely critical. We introduce two applications of an amplitude modulation-based watermarking method, in which we hide a user's biometric data in a variety of images. This method has the ability to increase the security of both the hidden biometric data (e.g., eigen-face coefficients) and host images (e.g., fingerprints). Image adaptive data embedding methods used in our scheme lead to low visibility of the embedded signal. Feature analysis of host images guarantees high verification accuracy on watermarked (e.g., fingerprint) images.  相似文献

High crude oil prices and pollution problems have drawn attention to alternative vehicle technologies and fuels for the transportation sector. The question is: What are the benefits/costs of these technologies for society? To answer this question in a quantitative way, a web-based model (http://vehiclesandfuels.memebot.com) has been developed to calculate the societal life cycle costs, the consumer life cycle costs and the tax for different vehicle technologies. By comparing these costs it is possible to draw conclusions about the social benefit and the related tax structure. The model should help to guide decisions toward optimality, which refers to maximum social benefit. The model was applied to the case of Thailand. The life cycle cost of 13 different alternative vehicle technologies in Thailand have been calculated and the tax structure analyzed.  相似文献

The modelling of hydromechanical behavior of clayey sediments by homogenization theory is described. The rheological model of clays buried in depth requires a three-dimensional approach and laboratory experiments to quantify the model parameters. An iterative process which can be coupled to any homogenization method is used to model the porous media behavior. Hydromechanical compaction results from oedometric experiments are simulated with the proposed model.  相似文献

This paper presents a valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) battery reserve life estimation scheme. The scheme is adaptive in both type and frequency of involvement. The scheme is based on capacity trending with the support of a number of state-of-health (SOH) indicators. These SOH indicators include accumulated thermal stress, float voltage, and indicators acquired from the start-of-discharge (coup de fouet) region. An implementation test case is given, indicating that the scheme is capable of providing an accurate estimation of reserve life long before the end of life. Furthermore, the estimation accuracy improves as the end of battery life approaches.  相似文献

This study describes a laboratory method for the estimation of emission from preservative-treated wood in the different situations where emissions could enter the environment for use classes 3 (not in contact with ground) and 4 and 5 (in contact with the ground, fresh water or sea water) according to OECD Guidelines. Samples of scotch pine sapwood (Pinus sylvestris L.) were treated with CCA (1% and 2%), ACQ-1900 (3% and 7%), ACQ-2200 (2%), Tanalith E 3491 (2% and 2.8%), and Wolmanit CX-8 (2%).  相似文献

The densification behavior and grain growth of Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9 ceramics were investigated with the strontium gallate concentration ranging from 0 to 5 mol%. Both the sintered density and grain size were found to increase rapidly up to 0.5 mol% Sr2Ga2O5, and then to decrease with further addition. Dense Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9 ceramics with 97% of the theoretical density could be obtained for 0.5 mol% Sr2Ga2O5-added specimen sintered at 1250C for 5 h, whereas pure Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9 ceramics needed to be sintered at 1550C in order to obtain an equivalent theoretical density. The addition of Sr2Ga2O5 was found to promote the sintering properties of Gd2O3-doped CeO2.  相似文献

Variation exists in all processes. Significant work has been done to identify and remove sources of variation in manufacturing processes resulting in large returns for companies. However, business process optimization is an area that has a large potential return for a company. Business processes can be difficult to optimize due to the nature of the output variables associated with them. Business processes tend to have output variables that are binary, nominal or ordinal. Examples of these types of output include whether a particular event occurred, a customer's color preference for a new product and survey questions that assess the extent of the survey respondent's agreement with a particular statement. Output variables that are binary, nominal or ordinal cannot be modeled using ordinary least‐squares regression. Logistic regression is a method used to model data where the output is binary, nominal or ordinal. Epitaxial lamellar gallium selenide (GaSe) semiconductors have been grown on trench-patterned silicon (Si) substrates by molecular beam epitaxy. An intriguing star-like patterned morphology was identified by atomic force microscopy on these epilayers. This non-trivial feature can be correlated with the accumulation of stacking faults of two concurrent epitaxial domains around self-oriented triangular pits developed earlier on the Si(111) surface by the chemical etching. This brief presents a new circuit architecture for linear-in-decibel, constant-bandwidth variable gain amplifier (VGA). To obtain high linearity under low-voltage operation, this VGA is a closed-loop structure. In loop amplifier design, two techniques are applied: first, the loop amplifier is given finite input impedance. This arrangement keeps the VGA bandwidth constant under different gain setting. Second, a current-buffered compensation is applied for loop stability. Compared to the Miller compensation, this method achieves wider bandwidth. The prototype chip using 0.18-mum CMOS technology demonstrates that -10- to 20-dB gain and 0.5- to 30-MHz bandwidth can be programmed independently. The group delay difference within 30-dB gain control range is smaller than 1%. The total circuit dissipates 1.35 mA from a 1.8-V supply  相似文献
