The present study delineates the effect of stearic acid on the properties of stearyl alcohol oleogel. Herein, a series of oleogels were prepared by mixing different proportions of fatty alcohol (Stearyl alcohol; gelator) and fatty acid (stearic acid; co‐gelator). The characterization of the oleogels was done by thermal, macro‐scale stress relaxation, drug release, and antimicrobial studies. The oleogels were formed by the self‐assembly of stearyl alcohol/stearic acid. Thermal studies indicated that the stearic acid alters the crystal morphology, polymorphic transition and rate of crystallization of stearyl alcohol. The firmness of the oleogels with higher stearic proportion was better, which was due to the formation of a rigid network structure of stearyl alcohol in the presence of stearic acid. The release of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride, model drug, from the oleogels was better from the oleogels with higher stearic acid content. The release of the drug from the oleogels was Fickian diffusion‐mediated; except the oleogel with the highest stearic acid proportion. The antimicrobial study showed that the drug loaded oleogels were able to resist the growth of Escherichia coli, model microbe.  相似文献

Due to their lightweight and excellent toughness, carbon fiber (CF) and its reinforced thermoplastic composites are suitable for high-performance applications such as aerospace, aviation, automotive and sport equipments. In this study, comprehensive detail is provided on the production of carbon fiber, its various forms and geometry and their corresponding effects on the mechanical properties of CF and its reinforced polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) composites. Here we discuss extensively various methods reported in literature on improving the interfacial fiber-matrix adhesion and dispersion in order to achieve better mechanical properties for such composites.  相似文献

In this work the moisture absorption capability, compressive properties, collapse modes of various types of composite sandwich structures are reported. The tested sandwich structures were constructed with varieties of hybridized skin materials and different compositions of the core materials. The moisture absorption, Flatwise compression and Edgewise compression tests are conducted for core as well as sandwich structures. Comparisons of results have been between the hybridized and non-hybridized sandwich structures. Two modes of collapse were noticed in the Edgewise compressive test, one of which being progressive end-crushing of the sandwich structure featured by significant crash energy absorption. This feature was highly desired for the parts of transportation vehicles. Microscopic analysis has been carried out to know the nature of failure under compressive loads. It has been observed that with increasing the debonding strength of the core–face interface, the failure mode changes from unstable collapse mode stable progressive crushing.  相似文献

Amino acid derivatives, namely, 2-(2-oxo-2-phenothiazin-10-yl)ethylamino)-3-mercaptopropanoic acid (OPEM) and 2-(2-oxo-2-phenothiazin-10-yl)ethylamino)acetic acid (OPEA) were synthesized and investigated as inhibitors for mild steel corrosion in 15% HCl solution using the weight loss, polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The inhibition efficiency of both the inhibitors increased with increasing the temperature and concentration of inhibitor. The inhibitors OPEM and OPEA show corrosion inhibition efficiency of 97.5 and 95.8%, respectively, in 200?ppm concentration, at 333?K. Polarization studies showed that both studied inhibitors were of mixed type in nature. The adsorption of inhibitors on the mild steel surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm and the surface of inhibited and uninhibited specimens were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The semiempirical AM1 method was employed for theoretical calculations and the obtained results were found to be consistent with the experimental findings.  相似文献

The preparation of high‐dielectric poly(styrene‐b‐(ethylene‐co‐butylene)‐b‐styrene) (SEBS) composites containing functionalized single‐walled carbon nanotubes (f‐SWCNTs) noncovalently appended with dibutyltindilaurate are reported herein. Transmission electron microscopy and X‐ray photoelectron and Raman spectroscopy confirmed the noncovalent functionalization of the SWCNTs. The SEBS‐f‐SWCNT composites exhibited enhanced mechanical properties as well as a stable and high dielectric constant of approximately 1000 at 1 Hz with rather low dielectric loss at 2 wt% filler content. The significantly enhanced dielectric property originates from the noncovalent functionalization of the SWCNTs that ensures good dispersion of the f‐SWCNTs in the polymer matrix. The f‐SWCNTs also acted as a reinforcing filler, thereby enhancing the mechanical properties of the composites. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci., 2013  相似文献

Recently long-lasting luminescence (LL) has been reported in YAG doped with Pr3+ or Ce3+ processed in reducing atmosphere. However, YAG:Ce emission is yellow which is not attractive for long lasting applications. On the other hand, Ga substituted garnets give green emission at shorter wavelengths. We explored Ga substituted garnets prepared by combustion synthesis for LL. These phosphors do exhibit green LL, although the intensities are lower compared to that of YAG:Ce.  相似文献
