Lightweight material capture methods require a material prior, defining the subspace of plausible textures within the large space of unconstrained texel grids. Previous work has either used deep neural networks (trained on large synthetic material datasets) or procedural node graphs (constructed by expert artists) as such priors. In this paper, we propose a semi-procedural differentiable material prior that represents materials as a set of (typically procedural) grayscale noises and patterns that are processed by a sequence of lightweight learnable convolutional filter operations. We demonstrate that the restricted structure of this architecture acts as an inductive bias on the space of material appearances, allowing us to optimize the weights of the convolutions per-material, with no need for pre-training on a large dataset. Combined with a differentiable rendering step and a perceptual loss, we enable single-image tileable material capture comparable with state of the art. Our approach does not target the pixel-perfect recovery of the material, but rather uses noises and patterns as input to match the target appearance. To achieve this, it does not require complex procedural graphs, and has a much lower complexity, computational cost and storage cost. We also enable control over the results, through changing the provided patterns and using guide maps to push the material properties towards a user-driven objective.  相似文献

Combustion of cattle biomass (CB) as a supplementary fuel has been proposed for reducing emissions of NOx, Hg, SO2, and nonrenewable CO2 in large coal‐fired power plants; however, its high ash content resulted in fouling and slagging problems when the CB was co‐fired with coals during small‐ and pilot‐scale tests. Ash depositions during combustion of the CB as a reburn fuel were investigated using a 30 kWt (100 000 Btu h?1) boiler burner facility with water‐cooled heat exchangers (HEXs) under unsteady transition conditions and short‐term operations. Two parameters were used to characterize the effects of the ash deposition: (1) Overall heat transfer coefficient (U) and (2) Burnt fraction (BF). A methodology was presented and empirically demonstrated for the effects of ash deposition on heat transfer under unsteady transition conditions. Experiments involving ash deposition during reburning the CB with coals were compared with experiments involving only ash‐less natural gas. It was found that the growth of the ash layer during reburning the CB and coals lowered the heat transfer rate to water in the HEXs. In low‐temperature regions, the thin layer of the ash deposition promoted radiation effects, while the thick layer of the ash deposition promoted the thermal resistance of the ash layer. A chemical analysis of the heavy ash indicated that the BF increased when a larger fraction of the CB was used in the reburn fuels, indicating better performance compared with coal combustion alone. However, the results of ash fusion temperature indicated the ash deposited during combustion of the CB and coals was more difficult to remove than the ash deposited during coal combustion alone. Investigation on asymmetric cyclic‐plastic or ratcheting behaviour of non‐ferrous materials has received relatively little attention compared with ferrous materials. Ratcheting behaviour of materials is generally simulated using isotropic‐kinematic hardening models; however, for materials showing cyclically stable response, isotropic hardening is often not accounted for the constitutive modelling. A methodology based on Chaboche's isotropic‐kinematic hardening (CIKH) model with the consideration of genetic algorithm for optimization of initial estimates of the CIKH parameters is used in this study. The investigated plastic responses incorporate both symmetric strain‐controlled hysteresis loops and ratcheting behaviour. The suggested approach satisfactorily predicts the reported plastic response of cyclically stable non‐ferrous alloys based on aluminum, zirconium, and titanium.  相似文献

The algorithmic and implementation principles are explored in gainfully exploiting GPU accelerators in conjunction with multicore processors on high-end systems with large numbers of compute nodes, and evaluated in an implementation of a scalable block tridiagonal solver. The accelerator of each compute node is exploited in combination with multicore processors of that node in performing block-level linear algebra operations in the overall, distributed solver algorithm. Optimizations incorporated include: (1) an efficient memory mapping and synchronization interface to minimize data movement, (2) multi-process sharing of the accelerator within a node to obtain balanced load with multicore processors, and (3) an automatic memory management system to efficiently utilize accelerator memory when sub-matrices spill over the limits of device memory. Results are reported from our novel implementation that uses MAGMA and CUBLAS accelerator software systems simultaneously with ACML (2013)  [2] for multithreaded execution on processors. Overall, using 940 nVidia Tesla X2090 accelerators and 15,040 cores, the best heterogeneous execution delivers a 10.9-fold reduction in run time relative to an already efficient parallel multicore-only baseline implementation that is highly optimized with intra-node and inter-node concurrency and computation–communication overlap. Detailed quantitative results are presented to explain all critical runtime components contributing to hybrid performance.  相似文献

The properties of virtually all real-world materials change with time, causing their bidirectional reflectance distribution functions (BRDFs) to be time varying. However, none of the existing BRDF models and databases take time variation into consideration; they represent the appearance of a material at a single time instance. In this paper, we address the acquisition, analysis, modeling, and rendering of a wide range of time-varying BRDFs (TVBRDFs). We have developed an acquisition system that is capable of sampling a material's BRDF at multiple time instances, with each time sample acquired within 36 sec. We have used this acquisition system to measure the BRDFs of a wide range of time-varying phenomena, which include the drying of various types of paints (watercolor, spray, and oil), the drying of wet rough surfaces (cement, plaster, and fabrics), the accumulation of dusts (household and joint compound) on surfaces, and the melting of materials (chocolate). Analytic BRDF functions are fit to these measurements and the model parameters' variations with time are analyzed. Each category exhibits interesting and sometimes nonintuitive parameter trends. These parameter trends are then used to develop analytic TVBRDF models. The analytic TVBRDF models enable us to apply effects such as paint drying and dust accumulation to arbitrary surfaces and novel materials.  相似文献

The manufacturing, delivery and support of service contracts in defence aerospace industry require a high financial investment. It is essential that the customer has the financial ability to procure and support the contract from the conceptual and manufacturing phase to the end of the project given the budget constraints. The aim of this paper is to identify the factors that affect customer affordability of defence contracts and develop a customer affordability assessment framework which is implemented as a software prototype system. Two major quantitative factors and twelve qualitative factors were identified, out which seven factors (identified as the major factors) were included within the customer affordability system. Following the identification of factors and development of measures for each, suggested actions to improve customer affordability were also proposed. The research methodology combined both case study and literature review approach with industrial collaboration in the customer affordability system development. The customer affordability system was validated through collaboration with industrial partners and a case study from defence sector and the results showed that the customer affordability system was capable of providing a good assessment of customer affordability.  相似文献

We propose a pitch synchronous approach to design the voice conversion system taking into account the correlation between the excitation signal and vocal tract system characteristics of speech production mechanism. The glottal closure instants (GCIs) also known as epochs are used as anchor points for analysis and synthesis of the speech signal. The Gaussian mixture model (GMM) is considered to be the state-of-art method for vocal tract modification in a voice conversion framework. However, the GMM based models generate overly-smooth utterances and need to be tuned according to the amount of available training data. In this paper, we propose the support vector machine multi-regressor (M-SVR) based model that requires less tuning parameters to capture a mapping function between the vocal tract characteristics of the source and the target speaker. The prosodic features are modified using epoch based method and compared with the baseline pitch synchronous overlap and add (PSOLA) based method for pitch and time scale modification. The linear prediction residual (LP residual) signal corresponding to each frame of the converted vocal tract transfer function is selected from the target residual codebook using a modified cost function. The cost function is calculated based on mapped vocal tract transfer function and its dynamics along with minimum residual phase, pitch period and energy differences with the codebook entries. The LP residual signal corresponding to the target speaker is generated by concatenating the selected frame and its previous frame so as to retain the maximum information around the GCIs. The proposed system is also tested using GMM based model for vocal tract modification. The average mean opinion score (MOS) and ABX test results are 3.95 and 85 for GMM based system and 3.98 and 86 for the M-SVR based system respectively. The subjective and objective evaluation results suggest that the proposed M-SVR based model for vocal tract modification combined with modified residual selection and epoch based model for prosody modification can provide a good quality synthesized target output. The results also suggest that the proposed integrated system performs slightly better than the GMM based baseline system designed using either epoch based or PSOLA based model for prosody modification.  相似文献
