The heat transfer through layers of casting flux has been studied with a laboratory set-up which consists of a water-cooled heat flux probe made of copper and an electrically heated steel plate with a trough to hold the flux sample. The measured heat flux density values were converted to system conductivities ksys which contain the radiation/conduction conductivity in the flux layer and the contact resistance at the probe side. It was found that ksys is almost independent from the layer thickness. Ten commercial casting fluxes were investigated and the data for ksys are given as functions of composition and strand surface temperature.  相似文献

The heat flux densities through thin layers of casting slag have been measured with a soft cooling heat flux probe which made smooth probe/slag interfaces. Thus the contact resistance was avoided. The evaluated effective thermal conductivities were applied, together with the data on the contact resistance, to compute the “system conductivities” existing in the continuous casting “system” water cooled copper/slag/strand. The refractive index and absorption spectrum were measured and used to deduce functions for the radiative and conductive (phonon) conductivities. Although precise values could not be obtained, due to the many assumptions involved, the data indicate that the conductive conductivity does not change drastically at high temperatures and on melting.  相似文献

Several polymerizable surfactants (surfmers) have been used in the semi-continuous emulsion copolymerization of styrene, butyl acrylate, and acrylic acid. Three of the (anionic) surfmers (sodium 11-crotonoyl undecan-1-yl sulfate, sodium 11-methacryloyl undecan-1-sulfate, and sodium sulfopropyl tetradecyl maleate) were prepared in house with purities between 53 and 82%. Physicochemical properties such as the critical micelle concentration, the adsorption isotherm, and the specific adsorption area were determined. The surfmers were then used with constant addition profiles in semicontinuous reactions, and the instantaneous conversions of the main monomers determined. The particle size, amount of coagulum, surface tension, and stability against electrolyte solutions of the latices were evaluated. Radiative–conductive heat transfer in a medium bounded by two reflecting and radiating plane surfaces is considered. This process is described by a nonlinear system of two differential equations: an equation of the radiative heat transfer and an equation of the conductive heat exchange. The problem is characterized by anisotropic scattering of the medium and by specularly and diffusely reflecting boundaries. For the computation of solutions of this problem, two approaches based on iterative techniques are considered. First, a recursive algorithm based on some modification of the Monte Carlo method is proposed. Second, the diffusion approximation of the radiative transfer equation is utilized. Numerical comparisons of the approaches proposed are given in the case of isotropic scattering.  相似文献

Monitoring and improving of process reliability are prevalent issues in thermal spray technology. They are intended to accomplish specific quality characteristics by controlling the process. For this, implicit approaches are in demand to rapidly conclude on relevant coating properties, i.e., they are not directly measured, but it is assumed that the monitored variables are in fact suggestive for them. Such monitoring can be performed in situ (during the running process) instead of measuring coating characteristics explicitly (directly) and ex situ (after the process). Implicit approaches can be based on extrinsic variables (set from outside) as well as on intrinsic parameters (internal, not directly adjustable) having specific advantages and disadvantages, each. In this work, the effects of atmospheric plasma spray process variables are systemized in process schemes. On this basis, different approaches to contribute to improved process reliability are described and assessed paying particular attention to in-flight particle diagnostics. Finally, a new test applying spray bead analysis is introduced and first results are presented.  相似文献

Chronic otitis media is a common disease often accompanied by recurrent bacterial infections. These may lead to the destruction of the middle ear bones such that prostheses have to be implanted to restore sound transmission. Surface coatings with layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are evaluated here as a possibility for drug delivery systems with convenient advantages such as low cytotoxicity and easy synthesis. Male New Zealand White rabbits were implanted with Bioverit® II middle ear prostheses coated with the LDH Mg4Al2(OH)12(SO4)2·6H2O impregnated with ciprofloxacin. 12 (group 1) were directly infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa and another 12 (group 2) 1 week after the implantation. Clinical outcome, blood counts, histological analyses and microbiological examination showed an excellent antimicrobial activity for group 1, whereas this effect was attenuated in animals where infection was performed 1 week after implantation. This is the first study to demonstrate an efficient drug delivery system with an LDH coating on prostheses in the middle ear.  相似文献

A parallelized resolved method for the simulation of the dynamics of immersed bodies within fluids is presented. The algorithm uses a FDM (fictitious domain method) and combines the Lagrangian DEM (discrete element method) for tracking the bodies with a CFD (computational fluid dynamics) method for calculating the dynamics of the fluid phase. First the CFD-calculation is carried out, disregarding the solid bodies. Afterwards, the velocity information from the bodies is included and the force, the fluid imposes onto the bodies, is computed. The last step consists of a correction-operation which ensures the fulfillment of the conservation equation. Dynamic local mesh refinement is used for minimizing the number of fluid cells. The CFD-DEM coupling is realized within the Open Source framework CFDEMcoupling (www.cfdem.com), where the DEM software LIGGGHTS (www.liggghts.com) is linked against an OpenFOAM~-based CFD solver. While both LIGGGHTS and the CFD solver were already parallelized, only a recent improvement of the algorithm permits the fully parallel computation of resolved problems. This parallelization permits the treatment of large-scale problems. The enclosed validation and application examples show the dynamics of the flow around settling and rotating spheres as well as an investigation of the settling of spheres regarding the Boycott effect.  相似文献

Epothilones are macrocyclic bacterial natural products with potent microtubule-stabilizing and antiproliferative activity. They have served as successful lead structures for the development of several clinical candidates for anticancer therapy. However, the structural diversity of this group of clinical compounds is rather limited, as their structures show little divergence from the original natural product leads. Our own research has explored the question of whether epothilones can serve as a basis for the development of new structural scaffolds, or chemotypes, for microtubule stabilization that might serve as a basis for the discovery of new generations of anticancer drugs. We have elaborated a series of epothilone-derived macrolactones whose overall structural features significantly deviate from those of the natural epothilone scaffold and thus define new structural families of microtubule-stabilizing agents. Key elements of our hypermodification strategy are the change of the natural epoxide geometry from cis to trans, the incorporation of a conformationally constrained side chain, the removal of the C3-hydroxyl group, and the replacement of C12 with nitrogen. So far, this approach has yielded analogs 30 and 40 that are the most advanced, the most rigorously modified, structures, both of which are potent antiproliferative agents with low nanomolar activity against several human cancer cell lines in vitro. The synthesis was achieved through a macrolactone-based strategy or a high-yielding RCM reaction. The 12-aza-epothilone ("azathilone" 40) may be considered a "non-natural" natural product that still retains most of the overall structural characteristics of a true natural product but is structurally unique, because it lies outside of the general scope of Nature's biosynthetic machinery for polyketide synthesis. Like natural epothilones, both 30 and 40 promote tubulin polymerization in vitro and at the cellular level induce cell cycle arrest in mitosis. These facts indicate that cancer cell growth inhibition by these compounds is based on the same mechanistic underpinnings as those for natural epothilones. Interestingly, the 9,10-dehydro analog of 40 is significantly less active than the saturated parent compound, which is contrary to observations for natural epothilones B or D. This may point to differences in the bioactive conformations of N-acyl-12-aza-epothilones like 40 and natural epothilones. In light of their distinct structural features, combined with an epothilone-like (and taxol-like) in vitro biological profile, 30 and 40 can be considered as representative examples of new chemotypes for microtubule stabilization. As such, they may offer the same potential for pharmacological differentiation from the original epothilone leads as various newly discovered microtubule-stabilizing natural products with macrolactone structures, such as laulimalide, peloruside, or dictyostatin.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Das Schaumbildungsvermögen und die Schaumstabilität erleidet in Trockeneiklar-Handelsprodukten keine Beeinträchtigung. Das Schaumbildungsvermögen zeigte sich gegenüber Bezugsproben sogar verbessert. Analog den Befunden bei Schaleneiern nach unterschiedlicher Vorbehandlung zur Salmonellenabtötung kann man auch bei Trockeneiprodukten die quantitativen Veränderungen im Gehalt an freien Aminosäuren als Indiz für solche Vorbehandlung (z. B. Hitzepasteurisierung) ansehen. Auch bei Trockeneiklar ergab sich eine Zunahme der freien Aminosäuren gegenüber den Bezugsproben, die teilweise im Größenbereich der Werte von pasteurisiertem Flüssigeiklar bei ähnlichen Pasteurisierungsbedingungen lagen. In anderen Fällen wurden einerseits niedrigere, andererseits wesentlich höhere Werte als in Flüssigei gefunden. Bei diesen Handelsprodukten waren die Bedingungen des Trocknungsverfahrens nicht bekannt. Auch im Trockeneigelb zeigten sich divergierende Tendenzen: einerseits Zunahmen der neutralen und sauren, bzw. Abnahmen der basischen Aminosäuren, andererseits Abnahme sämtlicher Aminosäuren gegenüber den Bezugswerten. Eine thermische Belastung (37°C) von Eiklar vor der Gefriertrocknung führt zu geringfügigem Anstieg der freien Aminosäuren. Unterschiede im Gehalt an freien SH-Gruppen traten in den untersuchten Proben untereinander und gegenüber den Bezugsproben nicht auf.[/p]
Comparative studies on dry egg productsI. Influence of pasteurisation and manufacturing methods on the content of free amino acids and SIT groups
Summary The quantitative changes of free amino acids in dry egg products may be considered as an evidence for different methods of preliminary treatment (e. g. heat pasteurisation) for the elimination of salmonella analogous to the findings in shell eggs after such treatment. Increase of free amino acids could be observed also in dry egg white compared to freeze dried egg white (reference sample). The increase lies partly on a level with the values of liquid egg white at similar pasteurisation conditions. In other cases both lower values and much higher values were found than in liquid egg. The conditions of drying were unknown at the most commercial products. Also in the dry egg yolk diverging tendencies were observed: on the one side an increase of the neutral and acid amino acids and a decrease of the basic amino acids, on the other side a decrease of all amino acids in relation to the freeze dried egg yolk (reference sample). A thermic influence (37°C) on egg white before freeze drying leads to a small increase of free amino acids. Differences in the free SH groups of commercial dry egg white were found neither between the investigated samples nor with regard to the freeze dried egg white. Foam power and foam stability of dry egg products were found in similar level with the freeze dried egg white. Foam power was even improved.

In multiple-list learning, retrieval during learning has been suggested to improve recall of the single lists by enhancing list discrimination and, at test, reducing interference. Using electrophysiological, oscillatory measures of brain activity, we examined to what extent retrieval during learning facilitates list encoding. Subjects studied 5 lists of items in anticipation of a final cumulative recall test and did either a retrieval or a no-retrieval task between study of the lists. Retrieval was from episodic memory (recall of the previous list), semantic memory (generation of exemplars from an unrelated category), or short-term memory (2-back task). Behaviorally, all 3 forms of retrieval enhanced recall of both previously and subsequently studied lists. Physiologically, the results showed an increase of alpha power (8–14 Hz) from List 1 to List 5 encoding when no retrieval activities were interpolated but no such increase when any of the 3 retrieval activities occurred. Brain–behavior correlations showed that alpha-power dynamics from List 1 to List 5 encoding predicted subsequent recall performance. The results suggest that, without intermittent retrieval, encoding becomes ineffective across lists. In contrast, with intermittent retrieval, there is a reset of the encoding process for each single list that makes encoding of later lists as effective as encoding of early lists.
