Integrated coal Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) is the most advanced technology for coal‐fired power generation. The two‐stage entrained flow gasification process allows for the use of a wide range of coal, as long as the gasification temperature is above the ash melting point of a used fuel. In this gasification technology, lignite, which often has a low ash melting point, can be preferably utilized. However, ash fluidity is also another importance, because the behaviour of molten slag can diminish a stable ash discharge from a gasifier. As the eligibility of coal ash properties is a considerable factor, water physically and chemically kept in lignite (30 – 60% in mass) attributes to deteriorating gasification efficiency, because it causes significant heat loss and increasing oxygen consumption. Developing a thermal evaporative lignite drying method will be a necessary attempt to apply lignite to the coal gasification process. For those preceded objectives, coal and ash properties and drying characteristics of several grades of Polish lignite, extracted from Belchatow and Turow deposits, have been experimentally investigated in a preliminary study evaluating the applicability and consideration for its utilization in state‐of‐the‐art clean coal technology, IGCC. This paper particularly discusses the eligibility of Polish lignite from the perspective of the fusibility and fluidity of ash melts and the fundamental drying kinetics of lignite in superheated steam in the light of water removal. The viscosity of ash melts is measured at high temperature up to 1700 °C. In the drying tests, the significant influence of structural issues, because of the provenance and origin of lignite on the drying characteristics, was found by applying the method of sensitivity analysis of physical propensity. This paper concludes that the investigated Polish lignite has characteristics favourable for utilization in IGCC technology, once the precautions related to its high moisture have been carefully addressed. The present study demonstrates the significant influence of ageing in the formation electrolyte on the morphology and composition of anodic films grown on zirconium in 0.35 M ammonium fluoride in glycerol. Ageing after anodizing, by immersion in the electrolyte for 1 h, is shown to promote a transition from a porous to a nanotubular morphology, due to the dissolution of the fluoride-rich intratubular material in which the nanotubes are embedded. The morphological change is accompanied by a significant loss of zirconium and fluorine from the film. In contrast, ageing in deionized water has little influence on the films. 相似文献

We investigated the precipitation processes in Cu-4 mol pct Ti alloy specimens aged at 723 K (450 °C), by means of X-ray diffraction and chemical analyses of the precipitates extracted from the parent alloy specimens. Aging-induced precipitate particles of a spinodally decomposed disorder, α′; those of a metastable order, β′-Cu4Ti; and those of a stable order, β-Cu4Ti, were continuously formed in the aged specimens. The extraction of the precipitate particles from the aged specimens by submergence in a nitric solution allowed for not only the structural analyses of the constituent precipitate phases but also the quantitative evaluation of their chemical compositions and volume fractions. Early during the aging process, the supersaturated Cu solid solution decomposes spinodally in a continuous manner, and an unstable disorder, α′, appears. Then, fine needle-shaped β′-Cu4Ti particles, which have a Ti content of approximately 37.5 mol pct, form in the Cu matrix. During prolonged aging, coarse cellular components composed of the terminal Cu solid solution and stable β-Cu4Ti particles which have a Ti content of 20.5 mol pct nucleate and grow, primarily in the grain boundaries, at the expense of the metastable β′-Cu4Ti particles. The volume fraction of the β′-Cu4Ti particles in the alloy reaches a maximum of approximately 1.7 pct after aging for 24 hours, while that of the β-Cu4Ti particles increases steadily to more than 18 pct after 480 hours. The volume fraction of the fine β′-Cu4Ti particles in the alloy specimens remained constant throughout the age-hardening, indicating that the hardening is primarily owing to the fine dispersion of the β′-Cu4Ti particles and not because of the large volume fraction of coarse β-Cu4Ti particles. 相似文献

Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are very attractive for their high energy conversion efficiency and low emissions. Generally, a supported layer of SOFCs is fabricated by tape casting, using an organic solvent. Recently, a slurry based on water instead of an organic solvent has been sought in order to avoid environmental pollution. In this study, the anode of SOFCs was fabricated by aqueous tape casting, and the electrolyte and the cathode were deposited by screen printing. The I–V characteristics of the cell thus obtained were evaluated. As a result, an 80 mm diameter-sized cell with a power density of 0.33 W/cm2 at 800 °C was successfully fabricated by controlling sintering conditions. 相似文献

Recently, a great deal of foreign investment has been entered into construction of the social infrastructure of Myanmar. Many construction projects are therefore on-going, and these are especially planned in the Yangon area. While these construction booms are increasing, existing studies on the geotechnical problems in the Yangon area such as problematic soils like soft clays are limited at present. Information on soil properties has also not been shared and has been confined to individual projects. In this paper, the boring and laboratory tests carried out in the Yangon area are selected and focused upon among the tests carried out in Myanmar. Laboratory test results for clay deposits in the Yangon area are analyzed and the differences in soil properties between different sedimentary basins and sub-areas divided by the Tertiary sediment ridge that runs from north to south at the center of Yangon are clarified together with a comparison to the clays found in other countries, which have been previously investigated. 相似文献

The thermal conductivity (TC) of an isotropic composite comprising of a main‐chain smectic liquid crystalline PB‐10 polyester and 50‐μm‐sized roughly spherical magnesium oxide (MgO) particles is investigated. The increase in the composite TC with higher MgO fractions is steeper than that expected by Bruggeman's theory for the TC of a polydomain PB‐10 polyester (0.52 W m?1 K?1). When the filler content is larger than 30 vol %, the composite TC approaches a value that can be explained only if the polyester functions as a matrix with 1.0 W m?1 K?1, which is five times as high as those of isotropic common polymers (0.2 W m?1 K?1). Such an unusually high TC for a polymer matrix is attributed to some polymer lamellae that lie parallel to the particle surface and are stacked toward neighboring particles, thus creating effective heat paths between the particles and a continuous thermal network in a composite. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A protocol for the analysis of the positional distribution of fatty acids (FA) in solid triacylglycerols (TAG) was developed using sn-1(3) selective alcoholysis catalyzed by immobilized Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB). One part by weight of solid fat and ten parts by weight of ethanol (99.5 %) were warmed to liquefy the fat. After adding 0.44 parts by weight of CALB, the mixture was shaken at 50 °C for 10 min then at 30 °C for 2.8 h. The recovery of 2-MAG after the 3-h transesterification reaction was ca. 85 % of the maximum theoretical yield (33 mol%), with the loss of 15 % attributable to the acyl migration from sn-2 to sn-1(3). The recovery was similar to that of the solvent-free alcoholysis of structured lipids, 1,3-dipalmitoyl, 2-oleoyl glycerol and 1,3-dioleoyl, 2-palmitoyl glycerol, conducted at 30 °C for 3 h. In contrast, the acyl migration from sn-1(3) to sn-2 was hardly observed. Because the detected acyl migration was only in the direction of sn-2 to sn-1(3), and not vice versa, it is proposed to determine the FA composition of the sn-2 position of TAG by the gas chromatographic analysis of 2-MAG fraction recovered from the enzymatic reaction mixture, and the FA composition of sn-1(3) position by a mass balance using the FA composition of TAG and of the sn-2 position as inputs. The procedure was successfully applied to palm oil and shea butter, and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)-rich single cell oil from Aurantiochytrium sp. KH105 for the first time. 相似文献

A simple sampling method to collect aerosol particles for transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis was developed by R’mili and others in 2013. The method involves passing air through a holey carbon film-coated copper mesh TEM grid (holey carbon grid) and sampling particles by filtration. In this study, we proposed a modified calculation method to represent the collection efficiencies of holey carbon grids, taking into consideration the porosity of the copper mesh. We then evaluated the particle collection efficiencies of holey carbon grids both theoretically and experimentally. We tested the collection efficiency of two types of holey carbon grids, with nominal pore sizes of 1.2 and 0.6 μm, using particles of monodispersed polystyrene latex (PSL) and potassium chloride. The overall collection efficiency of each grid (Egrid) was determined by the downstream/upstream concentration ratio measured by condensation particle counters (CPCs). In addition, for PSL particles, the collection efficiency of the holey carbon film (Efilm) was determined by the ratio of the number of particles on the film (counted on a scanning electron microscope) to the number of inflow particles (counted by a CPC). We compared model calculations against the experimental results obtained in this study and those reported by R’mili and others in 2013. These data showed that the calculated Egrid values were in reasonably good agreement with the experimental Egrid values. However, although the model calculation indicated that Efilm ≈ Egrid, there was an inconsistency between the experimental Efilm and Egrid, which requires further investigation in order to determine its cause.

Both heat and mass transfer in the gas phase and heat transfer in the liquid phase are examined experimentally for film condensation of organic binary mixtures such as ethanol-water and methanol-water. Experimental results on the average heat flux, vapor-liquid interface temperature and liquid-phase Nusselt number are compared with analytical solutions based on stagnant film theory and heat-transfer relationships for film condensation from a pure vapor. Experimental heat transfer results agree well with the analytical solutions, except that the experimental liquid-phase Nusselt numbers under conditions of low mass fraction of water are considerably higher than predicted by the analytical solutions. This high value of the liquid-phase Nusselt number is considered to be caused by dropwise condensation in the liquid phase. However, its effect on the tube bundle is not so remarkable compared with that in gravity-controlled condensation on a vertical surface.
