We report herein the rare case of a 65-year-old man found to have esophageal intramural metastasis from cancer of the gastric cardia. Endoscopic examination initially revealed an infiltrating ulcerative tumor of the gastric cardia involving the esophagogastric junction, as well as a submucosal tumor of the lower esophagus. A total thoracic esophagogastrectomy with lower mediastinal lymphadenectomy was performed, and the resected specimen demonstrated that both the cardia and esophageal tumors were adenocarcinomas with the same cellular differentiation. As lymphatic invasion and metastases to the paracardial and mediastinal lymph nodes were observed, the esophageal submucosal tumor was considered to be an intramural metastasis from the carcinoma of the gastric cardia resulting from extensive lymphatic spread. The patient died of recurrent disease 9 months after the resection. This case report serves to demonstrate that intramural metastasis may be a local indicator of the systemic spread of disease in patients with gastric carcinoma, as it is in esophageal carcinoma.  相似文献

The quantitative measurement of a crystal bending effect is performed using low-order zone-axis convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) patterns. Although the accuracy of the present method is inferior to that of the method of using split higher order Laue zone lines, this method enables us to estimate the crystal bending effect at a region very close to the interface and to easily judge whether the crystal bending effect results in a tensile bend or a compressive bend. As an application of the present method, the crystal bending effect at a region close to the SiGe/Si interface was measured. It was found that the crystal bending effect is due to a thin-foil relaxation of almost 0.3 degrees at a region that is approximately 10 nm away from the interface.  相似文献

This paper describes a transient cooling technology for electronic equipments using phase-change material (PCM). The module is made of low-cost materials, yet it is designed to achieve a reasonably high level of heat transfer performance. Paraffin is used as the PCM. In previous our report, we can estimate the cooling performance of PCM by using a thermal network method, which cannot calculate melted PCM flow. In this paper, we consider the heat transfer phenomena of PCM module more deeply by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis with an enthalpy porosity method. By using this method, we can calculate phase-change phenomena and flow phenomena of melted PCM with CFD analysis. First, we briefly explain the results of the experiment and the thermal network analysis. Then we describe the details of CFD analysis with the enthalpy porosity method. In this calculation, melted PCM flow and heat absorption of latent heat can be analyzed. Therefore, we can discuss the reason why the thermal network analysis can estimate cooling performance of PCM module without dealing with melted PCM flow. The calculation results showed that natural convective flow of melted PCM affects the cooling performance of the PCM module. In the case where the PCM module is set vertically, high temperature and low temperature locations exist on the substrate. If several devices are cooled with the PCM module, device consuming the most power must be set in the lower part of the PCM module. From these results, we can conclude that no natural convective flow occurs in our experiment due to the shape of the PCM module.  相似文献

A method for simultaneous determination of multiple pesticide residues in agricultural products was developed by using a pretreatment with ultrafiltration, followed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). The pretreatment process (extraction of pesticides from agricultural products with methanol, dilution of the extract with water, and ultrafiltration) gave recoveries in the range of 50-150% for 63 of 83 pesticides spiked at 0.25 microg/ g into 6 agricultural products. The detection limits of pesticides by LC/MS/MS were below 0.0005-0.05 micro/g. This method is useful for screening purposes and for multiresidue analysis of pesticides in agricultural products. Pesticide residues in 50 domestic crops were investigated by this method, and residues of 14 pesticides were detected in 30 crops.  相似文献

A spot-size converter integrated semiconductor optical amplifier (SSC-SOA) was developed as a gate element in an optical switch matrix for photonic switching applications. By a selective metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy technique, a bulk InGaAsP stripe, including an active region and thickness tapered SSCs, was grown. Wavelength composition of the stripe, strain on the stripe, and electrode coverage above the SSC region were optimized. As a result, gate operation for fiber-to-fiber gain of 0 dB was achieved at a low injection current of 30 mA, and the polarization dependence of the gain was eliminated as well  相似文献

In recent years, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems have been in demand to diagnose moving parts in the human body such as the heart or the blood in angiography, where images should be taken in milliseconds instead of minutes. Gradient power amplifiers, which are small but vital components for advanced MRI, require higher output power capacity as well as faster rise/fall dynamic response characteristics under a variety of specified current reference signals. This paper presents a novel switch‐mode gradient power amplifier using IGBTs which are connected in parallel to a conventional four‐switch full‐bridge power conversion circuit at their inputs/outputs in order to realize a higher power density. To satisfy the design specifications, which require minimized ripple and improved rise/fall dynamic response characteristics of the current in the gradient coil, a unique digital control scheme based on an optimal type 1 servo system is proposed and described in detail. The effectiveness of the above is discussed and evaluated through computer‐aided analysis. Warm spray (WS) process, which can control the temperature of a combustion gas jet used to propel powder, has been successfully applied to deposit WC-Co coatings. Detrimental reactions resulting from dissolution of WC into Co binder and decarburization were suppressed effectively by keeping the WC-Co particles’ temperature below the m.p. of the binder phase. In this study, three nano-structured WC-12Co powders with different particle strengths were prepared by changing the sintering conditions of spray-dried powder and were deposited by WS. The deposition efficiency and porosity of the coatings decreased with increasing the particle strength. The coating deposited from the powder with very low particle strength showed significant phase changes, while those deposited from the higher particle strengths showed almost no change. Particle Image Velocimetry revealed significant disintegration of the weakest powder, which explains the changes observed. The hardness and wear properties of the former coating, therefore, were inferior to the other two.  相似文献

We investigated the electrochemical lithium ion (Li(+)) insertion/desertion behavior on highly pure and bundled single- and double-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs and DWNTs) using an in situ Raman technique. In general, two storage sites could host Li(+) in SWNT and DWNT bundles when varying an external potential: a) the outer surface sites, and b) the interstitial spaces within the bundles. The most sensitive changes in the tangential mode (TM) of the Raman spectra upon doping with Li(+) can be divided into two regions. The first region was found from 2.8 to 1.0 V (the coverage of Li(+) on the outer surface of a bundled nanotube) and was characterized by the loss of resonant conditions via partial charge transfer, where the G(+) line of the SWNT and the TM of the outer tube of DWNTs experienced a highly depressed intensity, but remained almost constant in frequency. The appearance of a Breit-Wigner-Fano (BWF) profile provided strong evidence of metallic inner tubes within DWNTs. The second region was observed when the applied potentials ranged from 0.9 to 0 V and was characterized by Li(+) diffusion into the interstitial sites of the bundled nanotube material. This phenomenon invoked a large downshift of the G(-) band in SWNTs, and a small downshift of the TM of the inner tube of DWNTs caused by expansion of the C--C bonds due to the charge transferred to the nanotubes, and the disappearance of the BWF profile through the screening effect of the interstitial Li(+) layers.  相似文献
