The effects of Lactobacillus plantarum alone or in combination with chitosan were evaluated on quality and color retention in rambutan fruits (Nephelium lappaceum) stored at 25 °C and 10 °C with 75 ± 2.5% of relative humidity for 10 and 15 days, respectively. The development of the microorganisms was evidenced by viability analyses and lactic acid production. The application of L. plantarum significantly improved color retention (a* and L*), and reduced weight losses. The lactobacilli, alone or in combination with chitosan, preserved fruit quality characteristics such as firmness, total soluble solids and titratable acidity. The lactobacilli application on rambutan pericarp produced acidification of pericarp and avoided the browning; thereby desiccation was prevented due to biofilm formation. 相似文献
Optically active alcohol is an important building block as a versatile chiral synthon for the asymmetric synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. We purified and characterized glycerol dehydrogenase from Hansenula ofunaensis and prepared optically active 1,2-octanediol using a recombinant Escherichia coli harboring the glycerol dehydrogenase gene. The deduced amino acid sequence was investigated for identities with those of other alcohol dehydrogenases in the NCBI databank. The identification of the unknown product of a resting-cell reaction was performed by GC-MS. In the deduced amino acid sequence composed of 376 residues, the NAD(H) binding pattern and cysteine residues that correspond to the cysteine ligands at the zinc atom were conserved as they are in alcohol dehydrogenases from other origins. Glycerol dehydrogenase from Hansenula polymorpha DL-1 (Pichia angusta, DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank accession no. BAD32688) had the highest identity to our enzyme, showing 73% identity. Our glycerol dehydrogenase catalyzed the NAD(+)-dependent oxidation of long-chain secondary alcohols such as 1,2-pentanediol, 1,2-hexanediol, 1,2-heptanediol, and 1,2-octanediol. Activities toward 2,4-pentanediol and 2,5-hexanediol were hardly detected. From these results, it was confirmed that our enzyme requires two hydroxyl groups on adjacent carbon atoms for oxidation. 2,3-Pentanedione, 2,3-hexanedione, and 3,4-hexanedione were significantly reduced. The transformants oxidized only (R)-1,2-octanediol in 50 mM racemate (R:S=52:48), and produced (S)-1,2-octanediol (24 mM, <99.9% e.e.) after 24 h of incubation. The reaction product was suggested to be 1-hydroxy-2-octanone by GC-MS, which showed secondary hydroxyl groups oxidized. Glycerol dehydrogenase from H. ofunaensis could be useful for the production of long-chain optically active secondary alcohols. 相似文献
Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-reinforced copper (Cu) nanocomposite coatings were successfully deposited on aluminum (Al) substrate by a cold spraying process at a low pressure. The microstructure and the Raman spectrum of the low-pressure-cold-sprayed MWCNT–Cu nanocomposite coating showed that the MWCNTs maintained their tube structure in the Cu matrix, even though structural damage to the MWCNTs increased slightly. MWCNT–Cu nanocomposite-coated Al exhibits higher thermal diffusivity than pure-Cu-coated Al with a comparable hardness. The higher thermal diffusivity of the MWCNT–Cu coating could be explained by the dispersion of MWCNTs within the clean and closed CNT/Cu interfaces, which were achieved with the aid of compressive stress during the cold spraying. 相似文献
To understand the early stage of explosive decompression failure of rubber materials after high-pressure hydrogen exposure, the hydrogen elimination process of hydrogen-saturated peroxide-vulcanized acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) was investigated by small-angle X-ray scattering. The results were analyzed by the Debye–Bueche equation. Hydrogen-containing NBR samples exhibit a two-phase system with a clear interface, and the low-density phase of NBR samples is considered to be submicron-scale voids. The dimension of the voids in NBR becomes larger with decreasing cross-link density. The inflation of the voids in terms of the penetrated hydrogen contributes to the bulk-volume inflation after decompression. Estimated number densities of voids in the exposed NBR samples were almost constant. Judging from this, the voids in rubber samples after decompression are generated from precursors originally existing in the matrix, which are considered to be the low-density phase, which is attributed to the inhomogeneity of the cross-link density. 相似文献
Flavylium dye, a model compound of natural anthocyanin, has a defect that its color stability is very poor. We have complexed the flavylium dye with protonated zeolites and succeeded to enhance both the thermal and chemical stability of the dye. The aqueous dispersion of the flavylium/zeolite complex maintains its color even at 353 K or at pH 9, under which conditions the aqueous solution of the flavylium loses its color immediately. The stability is enhanced when the dye is incorporated into the pore of the zeolites, and a large stabilization effect is obtained by a tight adsorption with a narrow pore, as long as the dye is incorporated into the pore. Because of its enhanced color stability, the flavylium dye incorporated in the zeolite pore can be a candidate for an environmentally friendly coloring material. 相似文献
A new technique to provide melt elasticity using flexible fine fibers prepared from a polymer with high melting point is demonstrated. A polymer composite of poly(propylene) with a small amount of fine fibers of poly(butylene terephthalate) shows marked strain‐hardening behavior in elongational viscosity, i.e., a rapid increase in the transient elongational viscosity with time or strain. The blend also shows prominent normal stress difference at steady shear. These elastic properties have not been observed for polymer composites with rigid fibers and can be applicable to the modification of rheological properties and thus the improvement of processability.
