A tube-type solar still is found to be suitable for use in desert irrigation. The effectiveness of a heat accumulator with regard to distillate productivity is experimentally and numerically verified. The heat accumulator consists of tube bundles immersed in wax in order to utilize the latent heat of wax. The dynamic response to stepwise variation of irradiative intensity verified the contribution of wax to an increase of productivity only when the phase change of wax occurred. The effective distillate productivity was found to be 294.3 g/m2 during the cyclic stepwise change of irradiative intensity, from 200 to 600 W/m2 and back. Velocity vectors driven by natural convection and temperature contours estimated by numerical simulation verified the effectiveness of the heat accumulator especially after peak solar intensity. The latent heat of wax effectively contributed to a 15% increase in total distillate productivity per day. The still can feasibly meet irrigation water supply demands above an irrigative threshold of 17 MJ/m2 d.  相似文献

The numerical simulation of an ammonothermal process for growing GaN bulk single crystals has been performed by using the SC/Tetra computational fluid dynamics software. The autoclave is assumed to be axisymmetric. Heat transfer by natural convection is discussed in the case of flat and funnel-shaped baffles. Simulation results show that the optimum baffle angle is approximately 20°. This result is identical to that obtained in our previous study on the hydrothermal ZnO crystal growth process.  相似文献

This paper examines the effect of mediated hugs that are achieved with a huggable communication medium on the brain activities of users during conversations. We measured their brain activities with functional near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and evaluated them with two information theoretic measures: permutation entropy, an indicator of relaxation, and multiscale entropy, which captures complexity in brain activation at multiple time scales. We first verify the influence of lip movements on brain activities during conversation and then compare brain activities during tele-conversation through a huggable communication medium with a mobile phone. Our analysis of NIRS signals shows that mediated hugs decrease permutation entropy and increase multiscale entropy. These results suggest that touch interaction through a mediated hug induces a relaxed state in our brain but increases complex patterns of brain activation.  相似文献

Transformable multi-links aerial robots have great potentials in application relying on the transformable features to change its shape during the flight. Compared to traditional quadrotor robots, transformable multi-links robots are equipped with servo motor between links. To simplify the non-linear dynamic system, the previous work restricts the robot to transform in very slow speed so that the robot could be approximated as a quadrotor robot at each time point. However, tradeoff comes as the dynamic performance is given up. In this paper, we come up with a new framework combining of computationally efficient non-linear model predictive controller and motion primitive to optimize thrust force and joints trajectory of the multi-links aerial robot. Finally, we verify our framework with fast transformation motions and table tennis task which requires dynamic performance.  相似文献

We have successfully developed a quarter‐wave retardation film (QWF) for wide viewing angle 3D liquid crystal displays (3D‐LCDs) that provides high luminance, low crosstalk, low color change, and low head‐tilt‐angle dependency. It was found that the out‐of‐plane retardation (Rth) of the QWF in the LCD needs to be close to 0 nm in order to improve the 3D display properties at an off‐axis position and that the in‐plane retardation (Re) needs to be adjusted from 120 to 130 nm to achieve low color change with head tilting. We adopted a coating process for making our QWF because of its potential for retardation control. 3D‐LCDs with this QWF whose Rth was nearly zero had high performance and allowed off‐axis other than on‐axis.  相似文献

This study addresses a floor identification method for small humanoid robots that work in such daily environments as homes. The fundamental difficulty lays in a method to understand the physical properties of floors. To achieve floor identification with small humanoid robots, we used inertial sensors that can be easily installed on such robots, and dynamically selected a full-body motion that physically senses floors to achieve accurate floor identification. We collected a training data-set over 10 different kinds of common floors in home environments. We achieved 85.7% precision with our proposed method. We also demonstrate that our robot could appropriately change its locomotion behaviours depending on the floor identification results.  相似文献

We have reported that the transistors having the c‐axis‐aligned crystalline (CAAC) In‐Ga‐Zn oxide (IGZO) show good performance. Recently, In‐Sn‐Zn Oxide (ITZO) has attracted much attention because of its high electron mobility, as well as IGZO. However, it has been reported that ITZO field effect transistors (FET) tend to have positive Vth (normally‐on characteristics) and poor reliability compared with IGZO‐FETs. We have reported that high‐performance and high‐reliability OS‐FETs can be fabricated by using CAAC‐IGZO, which has high crystallinity and has no clear grain boundaries, as an active layer. Therefore, we have fabricated CAAC‐ITZO thin films to improve performance of ITZO‐FETs by using CAAC‐ITZO as an active layer. In addition, FETs employing CAAC‐ITZO have better characteristics and reliability than FETs using nano‐crystal ITZO. Furthermore, constant photocurrent method (CPM) measurement was carried out in order to estimate density of deep‐level defect states caused by oxygen vacancies in oxide semiconductors. The results show that CAAC‐ITZO has lower density of deep‐level defect states than nano‐crystal ITZO. We attribute the improvement in reliability of ITZO‐FETs to a decrease in deep‐level defect states of an ITZO active layer, as is the case with IGZO.  相似文献

We have designed and implemented a “Virtual Laboratory” on computer systems. Some of the implemented systems are Web‐based learning environments where the client–server model and Java technologies are used. The subject of electronic circuits is the most essential one in departments of electrical and electronic engineering. However, it is a subject whose basic theory, and also its technical terms and electronic circuit designs, are difficult for students to understand. The plasmodium of Physarum polycephalum is a unicellular and multinuclear giant amoeba that has an amorphous cell body. To clearly observe how the plasmodium makes decisions in its motile and exploratory behaviours, we developed a new experimental system to pseudo-discretize the motility of the organism. In our experimental space that has agar surfaces arranged in a two-dimensional lattice, the continuous and omnidirectional movement of the plasmodium was limited to the stepwise one, and the direction of the locomotion was also limited to four neighbours. In such an experimental system, a cellular automata-like system was constructed using the living cell. We further analysed the exploratory behaviours of the plasmodium by duplicating the experimental results in the simulation models of cellular automata. As a result, it was revealed that the behaviours of the plasmodium are not reproduced by only local state transition rules; and for the reproduction, a kind of historical rule setting is needed.  相似文献

We demonstrate that a tweezers tip can be directly used to manipulate single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) films and individual SWCNTs (or bundles). Specifically, we can align, bend, and even cut SWCNTs on the substrates where they are grown. With this manipulation technique, we are able to control the position, direction, and length of SWCNTs and fabricate complex patterns. Because of the large size of the tweezers tip, long SWCNTs (hundreds of micrometers in length) are found to be critical for the realization of such manipulations. This finding would contribute to the property studies on nanotubes and the fabrication of nanodevices.  相似文献
