Near‐monodisperse, size‐controllable, poly(methyl methacrylate)‐pigment nanoparticle composites were produced using electrohydrodynamic atomization (EHDA). The geometric mean diameters of the composite particles were in the 0.91 to 1.90 µm‐diameter range with geometric standard deviations of approximately 1.05 to 1.12. Increasing the polymer volume fraction and liquid flow‐rate resulted in an increase in the diameter of the composite particles, which agreed well with droplet scaling relations for EHDA. The results here demonstrate that EHDA can be used for polymer‐nanoparticle‐composite production and as an alternative to conventional inkjet printing.

Neuronal morphological changes in the epidermis are considered to be one of causes of abnormal skin sensations in dry skin-based skin diseases. The present study aimed to develop an in vitro model optimised for human skin to test the external factors that lead to its exacerbation. Human-induced pluripotent stem cell-derived sensory neurons (hiPSC-SNs) were used as a model of human sensory neurons. The effects of chemical substances on these neurons were evaluated by observing the elongation of nerve fibers, incidence of blebs (bead-like swellings), and the expression of nicotinamide mononucleotide adenylyl transferase 2 (NMNAT2). The nerve fiber length increased upon exposure to two common cosmetic preservatives—methylparaben and phenoxyethanol—but not to benzo[a]pyrene, an air pollutant at the estimated concentrations in the epidermis. Furthermore, the incidence of blebs increased upon exposure to benzo[a]pyrene. However, there was a decrease in the expression of NMNAT2 in nerve fibers, suggesting degenerative changes. No such degeneration was found after methylparaben or phenoxyethanol at the estimated concentrations in the epidermis. These findings suggest that methylparaben and phenoxyethanol promote nerve elongation in hiPSC-SNs, whereas benzo[a]pyrene induces nerve degeneration. Such alterations may be at least partly involved in the onset and progression of sensitive skin.  相似文献

Biodiesel derived from vegetable oils has drawn considerable attention with increasing environmental consciousness. We attempted continuous methanolysis of vegetable oil by an enzymatic process. Immobilized Candida antarctica lipase was found to be the most effective for the methanolysis among lipases tested. The enzyme was inactivated by shaking in a mixture containing more than 1.5 molar equivalents of methanol against the oil. To fully convert the oil to its corresponding methyl esters, at least 3 molar equivalents of methanol are needed. Thus, the reaction was conducted by adding methanol stepwise to avoid lipase inactivation. The first step of the reaction was conducted at 30°C for 10 h in a mixture of oil/methanol (1:1, mol/mol) and 4% immobilized lipase with shaking at 130 oscillations/min. After more than 95% methanol was consumed in ester formation, a second molar equivalent of methanol was added and the reaction continued for 14 h. The third molar equivalent of methanol was finally added and the reaction continued for 24 h (total reaction time, 48 h). This three-step process converted 98.4% of the oil to its corresponding methyl esters. To investigate the stability of the lipase, the three-step methanolysis process was repeated by transferring the immobilized lipase to a fresh substrate mixture. As a result, more than 95% of the ester conversion was maintained even after 50 cycles of the reaction (100 d).  相似文献

Although histamine is a well-known itch mediator, histamine H1-receptor blockers often lack efficacy in chronic itch. Recent molecular and cellular based studies have shown that non-histaminergic mediators, such as proteases, neuropeptides and cytokines, along with their cognate receptors, are involved in evocation and modulation of itch sensation. Many of these molecules are produced and secreted by immune cells, which act on sensory nerve fibers distributed in the skin to cause itching and sensitization. This understanding of the connections between immune cell-derived mediators and sensory nerve fibers has led to the development of new treatments for itch. This review summarizes current knowledge of immune cell-derived itch mediators and neuronal response mechanisms, and discusses therapeutic agents that target these systems.  相似文献

In this paper, a new method is proposed for the decolorization of a yellow-hued suspension of rutile TiO2 nanoparticles in an organic solvent (diethylene glycol dimethylether). The presence of color has always been undesirable in a suspension of nanoparticles filler used for industrial needs, particularly for optical applications.A colorless suspension was achieved by irradiating well-dispersed TiO2 nanoparticles in an organic solvent with UV-light (λ = 254 nm) for 5 h. TiO2 nanoparticles of 1 and 5 wt.% were dispersed using a beads mill method. Trimethoxytrifluor(propyl) silane was used as a dispersant to achieve stability. The effect of the UV-light irradiation on the TiO2 nanosuspension was investigated by means of a Fourier transform nuclear magnetic resonance analyzer (FT-NMR). The dispersant was partially desorbed due to the interaction of UV light and the TiO2/dispersant complex. Thus, an enhanced transparency and the absence of color were obtained for well-dispersed TiO2 nanoparticles in an organic solvent.  相似文献

A new electrospray system has been successfully developed by employing a proportional–integral–derivative control action to maintain an electric current at a certain value. A polymer precursor solution containing polyethylene glycol was used to examine the performance of this system. The result showed that cone-jet geometry could be controlled easily by adjusting the electric current. The length of the cone-jet decreased as the electric current was increased, in a correlation that followed power law. We also found that the cone-jet observed during electrospraying was stable and robust with no disturbance during long periods of use (up to 4000 s). The present study is very useful for further development of high precision aerosol generators and particle synthesis.  相似文献

Estimation of dynamic tensile strength of sandstone   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
A series of dynamic tests on Kimachi sandstone for measuring dynamic tensile strength are carried out using underwater shock waves. An emulsion explosive is used as the source of dynamic loading, and a pipe filled with water was arranged between the explosive and a cylindrical specimen. The length of the pipe is varied to produce different strengths of the incidence shock wave into the specimen. The velocity at the free end of the specimen and the position of a crack are observed using a laser vibration meter and a high-speed camera, respectively. A simple method of estimating dynamic tensile strength is proposed based on experimental results. The complete velocity profile at the free end without fracture information is completely constructed under a simple assumption. The point at which the crack may be markedly activated has been defined by the velocity profile at the free end as “the averaged fracture point”. Instead of the distance from the free end to the fracture position, the distance from the free end to the averaged fracture point is employed in estimating dynamic tensile strength. The dynamic tensile strength of Kimachi sandstone was obtained by an improved method within strain rates of 10–40 s−1. This study has indicated that the dynamic tensile strength varies with strain rate to the 1/3 power.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to fabricate the planar type patch clamp ion-channel biosensor, which is suitable for the high throughput screening, using silicon-on-insulator (SOI) substrate. The micropore with 1.2 μm diameter is formed through the top Si layer and the SiO2 box layer of the SOI substrate by focused ion beam (FIB). Then the substrate is assembled into the microfluidic circuit. The human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK-293) cell transfected with transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1 (TRPV1) is positioned on the micropore and the whole-cell configuration is formed by the suction. Capsaicin is added to the extracellular solution as a ligand molecule, and the channel current showing the desensitization unique to TRPV1 is measured successfully.  相似文献

N-Acylhomoserine lactones (AHLs) are used as quorum-sensing signal molecules by many gram-negative bacteria. We have reported that Solibacillus silvestris, which was isolated from the potato leaf, has AHL-degrading activity. To identify the AHL-degrading gene, whole genome sequencing of S. silvestris StLB046 was performed by using pyrosequencing technology. As the result of the BLAST search, one predicted ORF (ahlS) showed slight similarity to AiiA-like AHL lactonase from Bacillus cereus group. Escherichia coli harboring the ahlS-expressing plasmid showed high AHL-degrading activity. The ahlS-cording region was also amplified by PCR from the other potato leaf-associated and AHL-degrading S. silvestris strains. Purified AhlS as a maltose binding fusion protein showed high AHL-degrading activity and catalyzes AHL ring opening by hydrolyzing lactones. In addition, expression of ahlS in plant pathogen Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum attenuated maceration of the potato slices. Our results suggest that AHL-degrading activity of ahlS might perform useful functions such as useful biocontrol agents.  相似文献
