The high-low inversion in polycrystalline cristobalite, synthesized from quartz at 1500°C, was investigated by differential thermal analysis to 7 kbar in hydrostatic apparatus. A region of anomalous curvature ( d2T/dp2 >0) exists to ∼1 kbar; at higher pressure, the low→high and high→low transition temperatures vary linearly with pressure, with slopes of ∼51.1 and 53. 6 deg kbar−1, respectively. Extrapolated 1-bar intercepts are ∼232° and ∼209°C, respectively. It is concluded that high cristobalite is less compressible than low cristobalite near the inversion. The hysteresis between the high→low and low→high transition temperatures decreases with increasing pressure.  相似文献

Five cases of slipped femoral capital epiphysis were noted in children with prior irradiation for malignancy whose femoral head and neck had been included in the radiation portal. Three of the 5 were patients who had lymphoma. As a result of increasing survival rates for these types of patients, this previously unrecognized radiation-related growth disturbance may be more likely to be seen in the future.  相似文献

A procedure for the preparation of highly purified pig prothrombin is described. Compared to the initial clotting activity of the starting plasma, this protein was purified 776 times with a final yield of 8 per cent. The purified zymogen showed a specific activity of 1,460 NH units/mg of protein , a molecular weight of 65,000 as determined by SDS-polyacrylamide disc gel electroesis, E 1.0 mg/ml 1.0 cm, 280 nm = 1.45 at pH 7.0 and the following amino acid composition: Asx 51, Thr 38, Glx 62, Pro 23, Gly44, Ala 25, Half-Cys 30, Val 35, Met 3, Ile 30, Leu 32, Tyr 19, Phe 22, Lys 36, His 8, Arg 28, and Trp 13, which accounts for a minimum molecular weight of 59,370 (carbohydrates not computed). Alanine was found as the only N-terminal residue. Carboxypeptidases A and B failed to release any C-terminal residue. By hydrazinolysis however 0.4 mole of serine was released per mole of prothrombin. The activation of crude and chromatographed pig prothrombin was investigated.  相似文献

Platelets have been separated according to buoyant density using a colloidal silica-polyvinylpyrrolidone system and subjected to electronic sizing. All density populations were found to be heterogeneous in size, the most dense platelets ranging from less than 3 fl to greater than 21 fl in both man and rat. Light platelet fractions contained no platelets greater than 13 fl in either species. Cohort labeling with [75Se]selenomethionine showed no indication of significant change in platelet buoyant density with ageing; greater specific activity found in young, dense platelets appears to be related to increased protein synthetic activity shown in vitro and likely to occur also in their precursor megakaryocytes. It is postulated that dense, intermediate and light platelets are released synchronously by the three different ploidy classes of megakaryocyte, that varying density indicates differing structural characteristics and presumably differences in function. The present findings do not deny the possibility that platelets decrease in size with ageing but if such occurs, it is not associated with a significant change in platelet buoyant density.  相似文献
