X-ray Photoelectron Spectra of La0.8 – x Ce x Sr0.2MnO3

La_{0.8 – x} Ce _x Sr_0.2MnO₃ (x= 0–0.3) mixed-conducting manganites are studied by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The effect of A-site Ce substitution on the surface composition of the samples, charge states of the constituent cations, and bonding configuration is analyzed. The binding energies of the constituent elements are determined. The spectral shapes of the O 1s, La 4d, La 3d, Sr 3d, Mn 2p, Ce 4d, and Ce 3d peaks are examined as a function of Ce content.     

Ultrasonic and eddy-current study of plastic deformation in austenitic-steel welds

The effect of plastic deformation of a 08Kh18N10T (analogue AISI321)-steel welded joint on electromagnetic and acoustic properties of the material has been studied by eddy-current and ultrasonic methods. It has been established that structural inhomogeneity in heat- affected zone leads to a nonuniform distribution of acoustic properties in the weld. The possibility for determining the plastic resource of material from ultrasonic data is demonstrated.     

Research on the fracture process of steels by the acoustic method and the pitch net method

The results of experimental investigations on the process of damage accumulation in low-carbon and medium-carbon steels subjected to static and cyclic loading are presented. The algorithm of the damage evaluation of steels under static loading and high-cycle fatigue with the use of results of acoustic measurements, the measurement of hardness, and the evaluation of the microplastic deformation by the net method is proposed.
