Influence of organic modifying agent of clay on dispersion, distribution, hybrid microstructure formation, and associated performance properties of epoxidized natural rubber‐based composites was evaluated. Binary and ternary composites of carbon black (CB) and two organomodified layered silicates (i.e., nanomer I30E and Cloisite 30B) were prepared and characterized based on small angle X‐ray scattering, transmission electron microscopy, hydrodynamic swelling, tensile measurement, and dynamic mechanical analyses. Greater extent of exfoliation and “nanounit” formation was noted in ternary composites containing nanomer I30E, which was reflected in higher interfacial roughness (ds = 2.82) and lower radius of gyration (Rg = 205 Å). Morphological observations suggested higher nanomer I30E–CB interactions than that of Cloisite 30B–CB. The interplatelet distance in Cloisite 30B (d = 1.83 nm) stacks was lower than that of nanomer I30E (d = 2.26 nm). These two factors jointly contributed in higher breakdown of nanomer I30E stacks by CB than that of Cloisite 30B stacks. Greater exfoliation and nanounit formation in I30E–CB‐filled nanocomposite was also reflected in increased degree of crosslinking (n = 20 × 10?5%), tensile modulus/strength, half height width of damping peak (20.3°C), and filler effectiveness (C = 0.33). We report on the performance of a recently introduced commercial chessboard method using 12 antisera, in comparison with that of the 55-antiserum panel used in determining the serogroups and types (SGTs) of Streptococcus pneumoniae, both of which were carried out by a coagglutination technique. Of a total of 150 strains of S. pneumoniae studied, 135 (90%) belonged to the SGTs represented in the 23-valent pneumococcal vaccine; of these, 130 (96.3%) were identified as the same SGTs by both typing methods. The remaining five strains showed cross-reactivity with more than two pools by the chessboard method, but could be assigned to a single SGT by the Quellung test. The 96.3% concordance of the chessboard method suggests it can be adopted for determination of the SGTs of S. pneumoniae in laboratories.  相似文献

The present study concerns codeposition of nanocrystalline aluminide particles (NbAl3 and Cu9Al4) along with electrodeposition of Cu on a Cu substrate. It is shown that the success of codeposition primarily depends on the selection of an appropriate electrolyte. Following codeposition under an optimum deposition condition, the microstructure, phase identity and composition of the deposit layer have been studied. In addition, microhardness and electrical resistivity of the deposit have been determined. A suitable correlation of the microstructure and composition of the deposit with its properties suggests that codeposition of NbAl3 is more effective in enhancing the hardness. However, codeposition beyond a limit adversely affects the electrical conductivity. The optimum conditions for codeposition to enhance hardness without adversely affecting conductivity have been determined. Finally, it is predicted codeposition could be a suitable technique for developing a surface composite microstructure with uniform distribution of nanocrystalline aluminide particles.  相似文献

Summary The paper is concerned with the propagation of Love waves in a porous layer over an inhomogeneous half-space due to a point source. The dispersion equation for Love waves in a porous layer has been derived. The effects of porosity and inhomogeneity in the half-space have been shown graphically on the dispersion curves. L. Plantarum NCIM 2084 cells are homofermentative, essentially producing lactic acid as the main end product of glucose fermentation. Prolonged use through repeated batch fermentation with the cells of L. plantarum immobilized on chitosan treated polypropylene matrix showed a shift in the metabolic pathway from the homofermentative to heterofermentative, accompanied by morphological changes in immobilized cells from the normal rod shape to the coccoid shape. These changes appear to be related to a shift in the bacterial cell metabolism, resulting in a decrease in lactic acid yields.  相似文献

Heteroglycan and xyloglucan rich fractions were extracted from Indian samples of Enteromorpha compressa in 25% yield by sequential extractions with water and alkali. This heteroglycan is sulfated and has an apparent molecular mass of 55 kDa. Chemical structural analysis of this polysaccharide revealed a branched structure having 1,4- and 1,2,4-linked rhamnose 3-sulphate, 1,4-linked glucose, 1,3- and 1,6- linked galactose, 1,4- and terminally linked glucuronic acid and 1,4-linked xylose partially sulfated on O-2. Chemical and spectroscopic analysis showed that the 4-M KOH extracted hemicellulosic fraction contained an unusual β-(1,4)-linked linear xyloglucan. Enzyme hydrolysis and analysis of the resulting fragments by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight-mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) showed that this linear polymer contained partially sulfated Glc3Xyl2 or Glc4Xyl2 as oligomeric building subunits.  相似文献
