This work investigates the characterization and performance of polyaniline and silica modified Nafion membranes. The aniline monomers are synthesized in situ to form a polyaniline film, whilst silica is embedded into the Nafion matrix by the polycondensation of tetraethylorthosilicate. The physicochemical properties are studied by means of X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared techniques and show that the polyaniline layer is formed on the Nafion surface and improves the structural properties of Nafion in methanol solution. Nafion loses its crystallinity once exposed to water and ethanol, whilst the polyaniline modification allows crystallinity to be maintained under similar conditions. By contrast, the proton conductivities of polyaniline modified membranes are 3–5-fold lower than that of Nafion. On a positive note, methanol crossover is reduced by over two orders of magnitude, as verified by crossover limiting current analysis. The polyaniline modification allows the membrane to become less hydrophilic, which explains the lower proton conductivity. No major advantages are observed by embedding silica into the Nafion matrix. The performance of a membrane electrode assembly (MEA) using commercial catalysts and polyaniline modified membranes in a cell gives a peak power of 8 mW cm−2 at 20 °C with 2 M methanol and air feeding. This performance correlates to half that of MEAs using Nafion, though the membrane modification leads to a robust material that may allow operation at high methanol concentration.  相似文献

In a recent publication the pseudoanechoic mixing model for closely spaced microphones was proposed and a blind audio sources separation algorithm based on this model was developed. This method uses frequency-domain independent component analysis to identify the mixing parameters. These parameters are used to synthesize the separation matrices, and then a time-frequency Wiener postfilter to improve the separation is applied. In this contribution, key aspects of the separation algorithm are optimized with two novel methods. A deeper analysis of the working principles of the Wiener postfilter is presented, which gives an insight in its reverberation reduction capabilities. Also a variation of this postfilter to improve the performance using the information of previous frames is introduced. The basic method uses a fixed central frequency bin for the estimation of the mixture parameters. In this contribution an automatic selection of the central bin, based in the information of the separability of the sources, is introduced. The improvements obtained through these methods are evaluated in an automatic speech recognition task and with the PESQ objective quality measure. The results show an increased robustness and stability of the proposed method, enhancing the separation quality and improving the speech recognition rate of an automatic speech recognition system.  相似文献

The trajectory planning of redundant robots through the pseudoinverse control leads to undesirable drift in the joint space. This paper presents a new technique to solve the inverse kinematics problem of redundant manipulators, which uses a fractional differential of order α to control the joint positions. Two performance measures are defined to examine the strength and weakness of the proposed method. The positional error index measures the precision of the manipulator's end-effector at the target position. The repeatability performance index is adopted to evaluate if the joint positions are repetitive when the manipulator execute repetitive trajectories in the operational workspace. Redundant and hyper-redundant planar manipulators reveal that it is possible to choose in a large range of possible values of α in order to get repetitive trajectories in the joint space.  相似文献

Aiming for the investigation of insulating properties of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) layers, as well as the combination of this oxide with tin dioxide (SnO2) for application in transparent field effect transistors, Al thin films are deposited by resistive evaporation on top of SnO2 thin films deposited by sol–gel dip-coating process. The oxidation of Al films to Al2O3 are carried out by thermal annealing at 500 °C in room conditions or oxygen atmosphere. X-ray diffraction data indicate that tetragonal Al2O3 is indeed obtained. A simple device and electric circuit is proposed to measure the insulating properties of aluminum oxide and the transport properties of SnO2 as well. Results indicate a fair insulation when four layers or Al2O3 are grown on the tin dioxide film, concomitant with thermal annealing between each layer. The current magnitude through the insulating layer is only 0.2% of the current through the semiconductor film, even though the conductivity of the SnO2 alone is not very high (the average resistivity is 2 Ω cm), because no doping is used. The presented results are a good indication that this combination may be useful for transparent devices.  相似文献

Hydrogenated amorphous carbon (a-C:H) films were deposited by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition from methane, argon diluted methane, and nitrogen diluted methane at 26.7 Pa with a 13.56 MHz RF power supply. In this pressure regime, multiple-scattering of carbon species within the plasma phase is expected during the transport to the substrates placed on both the driven and the earthed electrodes. These films were analyzed using UV-VIS optical transmittance, monochromatic ellipsometry, Raman spectroscopy and current-voltage measurements. From these results, the effect of the plasma conditions and the effective flux of the carbon species controlled by the input power through the negative self bias are found to be important in the deposition process. The growth conditions at the higher pressure regime are important to synthesize a-C:H films from low energetic carbon species, since it reduces the defect density and improves the quality of the films. Furthermore, the effect of nitrogen on the growth conditions of a-C:H:N films is observed.  相似文献

Coal mining is one of the most important causes of environmental pollution, as large quantities of coal dust particles are emitted. Colombia-South America has large natural coal reserves and “El Cerrejón” is the world's largest open-cast mine located in the northern department of Guajira. The aim of the present study was to evaluate genotoxic effects in a population exposed to coal residues from the open-cast mine “El Cerrejón”. 100 exposed workers and 100 non-exposed control individuals were included in this study. The exposed group was divided according to different mining area activities: (i). Transport of extracted coal, (ii). Equipment field maintenance, (iii). Coal stripping and, (iv). Coal embarking. Blood samples were taken to investigate biomarkers of genotoxicity, specifically, primary DNA damage as damage index (DI), tail length and% of tail DNA using the Comet assay (alkaline version) and chromosome damage as micronucleus (MN) frequency in lymphocytes. Both biomarkers showed statistically significantly higher values in the exposed group compared to the non-exposed control group. No difference was observed between the exposed groups executing different mining activities. These results indicate that exposure to coal mining residues may result in an increased genotoxic exposure in coal mining workers. We did not find a correlation between age, alcohol consumption and service time with the biomarkers of genotoxicity. Our results are the first data of genotoxic effects induced by coal mining exposure in Colombia, and thus, contribute to the exploration of test batteries use for monitoring of exposed populations and may stimulate designing control, hygiene and prevention strategies for occupational health risk assessment in developing countries.  相似文献

This paper describes the behaviour under cyclic shear compression of an innovative reinforced masonry system, composed of horizontally perforated units, having common steel bars or prefabricated trusses as horizontal reinforcement. At the wall edges or crossings, confining columns for vertical reinforcement are built with vertically perforated units. Experimental tests to obtain information on the in-plane cyclic behaviour of the construction system were performed on masonry panels made of horizontally perforated units and on completed reinforced masonry walls. Tests on the entire system were repeated for two wall aspect ratios and two vertical stress levels, in order to force shear type and flexural behaviour. In particular, this paper presents: (a) results of shear compression tests in terms of strength, ductility parameters, energy dissipation, viscous damping and stiffness degradation, (b) strains and the effectiveness of reinforcement, (c) the influence of various parameters such as axial load, aspect ratio, and reinforcement type on the behaviour of the reinforced masonry walls, and (d) comparison of walls built with and without vertical reinforcement.  相似文献

This work presents an admission control mechanism for multi-hop wireless mesh networks based on the IEEE 802.11 standard and the OLSR routing protocol. This mechanism, called CAC-OLSR, aims at ensuring that traffic flows with quality of service (QoS) requirements, especially voice and video, are only admitted in the mesh network if it has available resources in order to provide flow requirements. In addition, QoS requirements of previously admitted traffic flows cannot be violated. The proposal was evaluated with NS-2 and Evalvid simulations.  相似文献

The design of standard communications and security mechanisms for resource‐constrained sensing applications and devices may provide an important contribution for its integration with the Internet and consequently towards the realization of what we nowadays identify as the Internet of Things. This vision will only be realizable if appropriate security mechanisms are available, and in this context we target the design and experimental evaluation of security mechanisms for communications at the network‐layer with sensing devices (smart objects) using the standard IPv6 protocol. Our work proposes and evaluates the usage of new compressed security headers for the network layer with smart objects. We implement and evaluate what is, as far as we know, the first proposal of security at the network layer experimentally evaluated using the TinyOS operating system and its networking stack. As we verify in the course of our evaluation study, various scenarios employing network‐layer secure communications involving smart objects are feasible, particularly when security mechanisms are designed to benefit from cross‐layer interactions that allow the optimization of expensive cryptographic operations.
