Surgical treatment of portal hypertension with ascites using ileovesicopexy under experimental conditions

Experiments conducted with albino rats have evidenced that under the effect of an atherogenic ration the level of lipids and cholesterol in the blood plasma and hepatic tissue and of sillac acids in the blood plasma increased. In the aortic intima the content of acid mucopolysaccharides was rising, this being attended by a concurrent swelling of the main interstitial substance and of the collagen fibers in the subendothelial layer. An addition of apple pectin or of cellulose to the atherogenic ration deferred the development of the mentioned changes.     

Experimental determination of the radiation quality factor near high-energy accelerators

Experimental data characterizing the effective quality factor QF of multicomponent pulse radiation in various parts of a 10-GeV synchrophasotron are presented. The measurements were made by the recombination method. The value of QF varied from 3 to 11. The results of the measurements are compared with values determined for other high-energy accelerators. Values of QF obtained in experiments on particle beams in a 680-MeV synchrocyclotron are also given.Translated from Atomnaya Énergiya, Vol. 20, No. 5, pp. 392–396, May, 1966.     

Responses in the superior thoracic white rami communicantes to stimulation of the dorsolateral funiculi of the spinal cord

In anesthetized cats, the responses in T3 white rami to stimulation of the spinal dorsolateral funiculi at C5 level displayed three typical waves. The short latency first wave is the result of stimulation of descending fibres with conduction velocity over 20 m/sec, which activate some sympathetic preganglionic neurons monosynaptically. These neurons are, probably, outside of the lateral horns and have axons with conduction velocities over 10 m/sec. The second wave is associated with the discharges of lateral horn's sympathetic preganglionic neurons disynaptically activated by descending fibres with conduction velocity about 6 m/sec.     

Producing dinas without milk of lime

Conclusions Laboratory studies were made with the production of dinas without milk of lime, and we established the possibility of producing it with this technology.In industrial conditions the Pervourals Dinas Factory produced an experimental batch of dinas bonded with Portland cement, and also an experimental batch of specimens of dinas with lime-iron bond without preparing the milk of lime.The resulting dinas in quality is not inferior to the best dinas products made for building open-hearth furnaces and other heating units.The dinas green brick bonded with Portland cement has a high strength, and therefore apparently it will be possible subsequently to eliminate its drying during the production of dinas.Translated from Ogneupory, No. 1, pp. 12–17, January, 1973.
