This study estimates the electricity demand function for the residential sector of South Korea with the aim of examining the effects of improved energy efficiency, structural factors and household lifestyles on electricity consumption. In the study, time series data for the period from 1973 to 2007 is used in a structural time series model to estimate the long-term price and income elasticities and annual growth of underlying energy demand trend (UEDT) at the end of the estimation period. The result shows a long-term income elasticity of 1.33 and a long-term price elasticity of −0.27% with −0.93% as the percentage growth of UEDT at the end of the estimation period. This result suggests that, in order to encourage energy efficiency in the residential sector, the government should complement the market based pricing policies with non-market policies such as minimum energy efficiency standards and public enlightenment.  相似文献

A prospective longitudinal research study of 86 prematurely born children from birth to age 18 years provided empirical evidence for continuity from infancy experience to representations of attachment at age 18 years. Young adults whose representation of attachment was dismissing had been objectively observed during infancy, 16–17 years earlier, to receive less sensitive maternal care than those infants who were later judged at early adulthood to have secure or preoccupied representations. Infancy experience alone did not differentiate young adults with secure representations from those with preoccupied representations. Rather, adverse life events through age 12, particularly parental divorce, reduced the likelihood of secure representations and increased the likelihood of preoccupied representations. The absence of adverse life events did not increase the likelihood of security for those who had not experienced early sensitive caregiving. The Earned Value technique is a crucial technique in analyzing and controlling the performance of a project which allows a more accurate measurement of both the performance and the progress of a project. This paper presents a new fuzzy-based earned value model with the advantage of developing and analyzing the earned value indices, and the time and the cost estimates at completion under uncertainty. As the uncertainty is inherent in real-life activities, the developed model is very useful in evaluating the progress of a project where uncertainty arises. The aim of this study is to investigate the viability of use of sodium phosphate (Na3PO4: SP), tetrasodium pyrophosphate (Na4P2O7: TSPP) and hydroxyethylidene-diphosphonic acid (C2H8O7P2: HEDP) as a non-toxic corrosion inhibitors of steel bars in alkaline media which simulate the electrolyte in the concrete pores. The effectiveness of these phosphate compounds as corrosion inhibitors was investigated by measuring the corrosion potentials, the polarization curves, the corrosion current densities, and the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of steel bars immersed for 30 days in saturated Ca(OH)2 solutions with and without chlorides. At the completion of the tests, the mass losses were determined in order to verify the reliability of the electrochemical results. The results showed that phosphate compounds form a protective layer on the steel surface when immersed in alkaline solution without chlorides. In the presence of chloride ions, the SP acts as an anodic inhibitor and reduces the corrosion activity on steel. The HEDP shows lower efficiency, probably due to the decrease of the pH and to the high [Cl]/[inh] ratio used. Results obtained by electrochemical and gravimetric methods are in quite reasonable agreement.  相似文献

Experiments are reported on the variations in moisture absorption properties of an epoxy resin produced by sudden changes in temperature. Where the temperature change occurred when only a little water had been absorbed, the change in moisture absorption was determined by the change in diffusivity. Where a temperature change occurred when near saturation, a reverse thermal effect was observed. An attempt has been made to understand the results in terms of thermodynamics. Results obtained for the swelling changes accompanying sudden changes in moisture content suggest that it is the more tightly bound water in the polymer which takes part in the reverse thermal effect.  相似文献

This paper presents a validation study on statistical nonsupervised brain tissue classification techniques in magnetic resonance (MR) images. Several image models assuming different hypotheses regarding the intensity distribution model, the spatial model and the number of classes are assessed. The methods are tested on simulated data for which the classification ground truth is known. Different noise and intensity nonuniformities are added to simulate real imaging conditions. No enhancement of the image quality is considered either before or during the classification process. This way, the accuracy of the methods and their robustness against image artifacts are tested. Classification is also performed on real data where a quantitative validation compares the methods' results with an estimated ground truth from manual segmentations by experts. Validity of the various classification methods in the labeling of the image as well as in the tissue volume is estimated with different local and global measures. Results demonstrate that methods relying on both intensity and spatial information are more robust to noise and field inhomogeneities. We also demonstrate that partial volume is not perfectly modeled, even though methods that account for mixture classes outperform methods that only consider pure Gaussian classes. Finally, we show that simulated data results can also be extended to real data.  相似文献

Edible coating based on Alyssum homalocarpum seed gum (AHSG) and chitosan for coating of fresh apricot was optimized using response surface methodology (RSM). The independent variables included concentrations of AHSG and chitosan in coating solution. The response variables studied were total soluble solid, weight loss, titratably acidity, pH, reducing sugar, moisture content, and firmness. Results indicated that RSM models were significantly (p < .05) qualified for all response variables, except for total soluble solid and titratable acidity. The regression models demonstrated R2 ranging from .78 to .99. AHSG concentration influenced the weight loss, pH, and firmness, while chitosan concentration had an effect on pH and moisture content. This study showed that the coating can improve apricot firmness and stability in terms of weight loss, pH, and moisture content. The study suggested that a combination of AHSG 1.02% (w/w) and chitosan 0.33% (w/w) is the best one to achieve the desirable responses.  相似文献

In this research, we propose a new method and instrument to measure load-extension curve of the fabric samples under all-directional extension. Using this method, fabric sample is loaded under extension in the warp, weft, and all other directions in between. Using this new method, we introduced a comprehensive tensile modulus which is affected by the fabric structures and densities. For this purpose different structures i.e. plain, Twill 2/2, Twill 1/3, and Twill 1/7 were produced with different densities. Then these samples were tested under the new method. Our results are then compared to those one would obtain under uniaxial tests, by performing independent uniaxial tests. It is shown that under all-directional test lowering the weft density decreases the tensile comprehensive modulus. Furthermore, a reduction in the floating yarns in the fabric structure decreases the tensile comprehensive modulus. It was found that among the samples tested here, plain fabric and Twill 1/7, respectively, possess the maximum and minimum comprehensive modulus. A similar trend was also observed through independent uniaxial extension, in warp or weft direction, test.  相似文献

The influence of organic acid and heating treatments on carotenoid degradation on a simulated cashew apple juice was assessed by high performance liquid chromatography coupled with a photodiode array and mass spectrometry detectors. A total of nineteen carotenoids were separated in unheated simulated cashew apple juice, with all-trans-β-cryptoxanthin and all-trans-β-carotene as the major ones. As a consequence of heating, five xanthophylls disappeared, whereas two new cis isomers and five epoxide or furanoid-derivatives were formed and the levels of all cis isomers increased. In addition, 12′-apo-β-carotenal was formed at 90 °C. Two oxidation compounds (12′-apo-β-carotenal and 5,6-epoxy-β-cryptoxanthin) were formed after β-cryptoxanthin heating at 90 °C in an aqueous-based system. In all systems, the amounts of total carotenoids lost were not compensated by those formed. These facts indicated that isomerisation and oxidation to both coloured and non-coloured compounds were the main reactions occurring during heating of carotenoids in aqueous-based and juice systems.  相似文献
